- Illustrator - Outline Word & not Letters - Editable Type Effect
Learn to outline an entire word rather than individual letters in Illustrator. This approach uses the Appearance panel to help you move the stroke behind the fill so the outline appears outside the entire word and not around individual letters. Once you have watched this video you should be able to create this fully editable effect very quickly and easily.

A short class, however of the highest relevance. Although it is a study for Ilustrator, these same mistakes naturally appear in the PS. I know because when I work with fonts in that use effects in several layers that happens and we have to correct - and these mistakes should always be avoided and corrected. Congratulations. Thanks! i followed the instructions twice and this didn't work for me unfortunately. the stroke just becomes thinner when moving the fill on top.
Make sure the stroke is on the outside - there are three options for stroke placement - inside, center & outside. The setting is in the Stroke panel.
Sooo, let's say you have a neon style outline and you wish to have no fill....what do you do then?
