  • I needed some storage. I needed it now. I built it now. Now was a good time. But now that I think about it, I'd change a few things now.

I use those same red casters for almost all of my builds in my home shop. I'll bolt them sometimes, but I usually weld them to save time. Splatter definitely gets in the bearing, but you can blow out all of the splatter with a needle nose air nozzle hooked up to your air compressor. It'll blast out all the little slag balls from the bearing then they spin just fine. I'll spray a little lithium grease in there once they're clean just to get it a good lube. Cool idea for a storage rack though! I'm probably going to build this as well!!

Welcome! And did you see the doggy nose and paw sticking out behind the sheet metal at 8:10 in the video?

Scrap builds are great, a fun challenge to see what one can make! That cow-chute is dog-approved!

Looking forward to the chute video loved the last one

Thanks! This loading chute was built mostly out of new material, instead of a scrap and oil field pipe like the last one. And it was a real eye opener how much faster a project goes when using new material. A lot less time spent with the hand grinders!

Getting a shop organized always gets postponed, and should be the first thing done to help the main project done.
Nice simple way to store big sheets and have them available.
Guess Farming and Summer don't leave you much time for videos... ;)

Yep, it does always save time to spend time organizing. And no, not much time for making videos or watching them lately. Thanks for stopping by Pierre!

Thanks for dropping by Mr. P.G! It was fun to do some work for myself. Seems like I don't get time to do that anymore.

Nice work. I would have toiled on the 'best' way to stack those sheets for days. Sometimes you just gotta try and adjust as you go. Say, as lame as it sounds I wouldnt mind seeing you picking up all that steel from the distributor. Ive never bought new since its so expensive.

I wish I could show you the distributor, but I've never set foot in the building. I don't go get the steel. It comes from a warehouse 118 miles away and I order enough steel at a time that they deliver it to me. I call them and say "hey, bring me this" and they drive an 18 wheeler right to my shop! I actually have a clip of the 18 wheeler coming down my road in the next (hopefully) video about that cattle chute build.

When are we going the see The Everlasting Gobstopper project, you know, the wood chipper?

I keep trying to work on it. My life has been crazy the last couple years. I regret doing it as a "live" project instead of building it all before uploading the videos. The crazy Summer rush is winding down for the farmers around here, so hopefully I can get some time on it soon!
