They’re one of the few dev groups that care about their community and haven’t sold out to a big corporation, they’re in this game for the long run like 6+ years and this is the first week of release let’s all just calm down.
Virgin extrinsic motivator: BUT I DIDN'T SEE NUMBER GO UP! Chad Intrinsic Motivator: The gameplay itself is fun. Everything else is a bonus. Also you didn't get 0 XP, you got progression on your weapon challenges, which leads to XP. Just play the game for fun. You don't need to be max level.
Servers are running alot better here in the West Coast United States. Games super fun i love the updated stealth aspect. Not a fan of the leveling system, its a damn grind to get them 21 skill points just to make a decent build. Hopefully thingsll be different later.

Yeah yeah. Starbreezes new motto, "time gate our game as much as possible so microtransactions will be inevitable in the near future." I stealth mostly, have a solid tank edge grit last man standing Shotgun loud build I'm playing with, can wreck a dozer quick and up close on overkill. Pretty fun.
The leveling and loot system are very unsatifying. During the heist, there's very little indication that a bag was secured, no onscreen value, no cool sound effect, it just disappears and Shade says something. And after the heist, I get no xp and unless I do very restrictive, very specific challenges. Progression is a nightmare. The guns feel so weak. Half a mag or multiple headshots headshots to kill one dude. On Normal. The hud is miniscule and bland, the UI sucks. I want to love this game so badly but it's very unsatisfying in every way.
I think there does need to be a loot secured popup when securing loot/picking up instant loot, but the progression system is fine. You get cash every mission which at minimum can be turned into C Stacks and you are always progressing the weapon/heist completion challenges so even if it doesn't show XP gain you are still progressing towards it. I don't think guns are weak, you're probably thinking of the Heavy SWATs in later waves that have armoured helmets and thus should take more damage. I think this makes the cops more of a threat than in PD2 and emphasises the importance of managing resources and efficient heist completion as you'll lose more ammo over time once the heavy units arrive.
While i largely age: there are some heists that call out a bag is secured like Gold and Shark and Road rage "Thats one bag, thats two bags.... THATS ALL OF THEM LETS GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE"
I don’t know if this has been talked about yet. I play on ps5 and whenever I try to watch a story cutscene, all my sound turns off. I can’t watch the cutscenes with sound no matter what I do.
new interaction animations are highly in need, so i’m happy to hear you guys got plans to change that. Also could you please add more separate loot, like small piles of diamonds stones so that you can insistingly “F-Key” them to collect. It’s rather meager, collecting the stones and just waiting till the interaction circle is charged.
Most companies would go on really bad damage control and try to close down any criticism, but Overkill let's it come to them and work their way with it.

Like the basic game that costs 30€ will cost about/moe then 250€ when all ingame transactions will be bought by a player (new maps, new guns, new cosmetics etc)… Just look at Payday 2, the basic game costs 20€ but with all ingame transactions it costs more then 250€. Still need proof?
Fatshark's Darktide had radio silence and did not bother doing any fixes until next year. OVERKILL is giving us a bit of news and transparency about what they are doing, so there is a bit of hope. But actions speaks louder than words, we will have to see where they go with all this.

Random thing i tested: if any of you care the Steam deck handle the game pretty good. If you want to play on the go but without a pause feature its not the best experience.
Give the game like a base amount of XP, and like, killing a guard gives you a certain amount of XP in stealth and lowers if it goes loud. And if you finish a heist without killing a guard, you gain more XP than killing 2-4 guards on normal or OVERKILL.
add a skill: when hit in the head with a sniper rifle, enemies within a radius of 5 meters receive 90% of the damage dealt, this is very important, since at the moment sniper rifles are useless!
I’m really hoping melee weapons _don’t_ return ^^ Just boost the stagger and damage of melee attacks as they are, I suppose. You get cracked in the face with the butt of a weapon, it’s gonna hurt! It felt like melee weapons were rather underpowered in 2, so I’m hoping the basic panic slap becomes viable, and no needless tools get thrown in to complicate things further.
By the time you make an informed decision about what is hands down the worst way to progress (challenges) the game will already be dead and your reputation will be destroyed nevermind the $ it costs a company already struggling. Be careful with stats on challenges. Im guessing theres alot like me who are doing them to lvl,but hate how the lvling is. The fact that its faster lvling to do minium loot over spending 5mins to get 10+bags is stupid. both weapon exp and lvls are better to do main mission for 1500xp over 10 more lootbags for 1750 and no extra lvl xp
Honestly I don't care about the launch and I have waited for payday 3 for 10 years also I don't really mind that the game is always online because I have an eternal cable but seriously I need there to be some type of way to gain XP just off of playing the jobs alone because I have nearly three days and I am still level 25. Payday 2 I would have been like infamy ll or lll by now.
I think a good stealth challenge could be "Time spent without the alarm going off", which would encourage attempting stealth and the patient mindset it encourages.

Nope. Keep it. Forces you to make tradeoffs and choices and players to specialise across a crew. Giving out more skill points because people wanted more is how PD2's power creep started and must be avoided to prevent repeating past mistakes. If you need more skill points, remove the points from skills that are less valuable than the one you want.

At launch they had 69k people playing at once, not including console players. Of course the servers would get overloaded because they never thought this many people would suddenly jump on the game.
Ok so: 1. They confirmed in the previous stream that the server problems were caused by 2 problems introduced by their 3rd party server partner. As far as the devs knew, they were ready for the server load at launch. 2. They have said they literally are focusing almost all the dev team on fixing the server issues before content. You really think they need more than a couple of people to make a new skill tree? 3. There is XP. The gratification is just delayed until you beat challenges, of which most are for weapons and heist completion which are what you'd be grinding if it was a more traditional XP system anyway.

health doesn't change between difficulties thats why the health needs to have some sort of middle ground, with edge you can kill pretty fast
