Medina has already won at Pipe, in Tahiti and Fiji, he is a specialist in big waves and barrels. Margaret was missing, but not anymore. A goofy footer dominates one of the most insane rights in the world. Congratulations Gabe Medina 3x world champion you are a monster, one of the best of all time, the most talented of this generation.

Medina is on another level. He might be the only surfer with top level technical talent and top level power. He absolutely destroys the lip when he goes vertical. Just amazing!
He looked good but the judges throw him high numbers all the time.
I can’t believe this ! This was insane! A goofy winning this competition and it had to be Medina ! Now we can say that he is a completed world champion with a 100% sureness that he is the best competitor on the planet ! Winning almost every stop on the world tour ! I don’t know if I have written makes sense but I guess you get what I mean ! Definitely making the goofy surfers proud 🔥🔥 so stoked and happy for Medina !

Gabby once said, " I'm here to win, that's why I surf". Maybe his belief system is responsible for his success. Maybe That's why he is the way he is.
I'm glad they didn't steal this from Gabe, yes his performance much more powerful, crisp, reminds me of jjf surfing both sirfers i love to watch. The scoring was much better a little faster on this heart.. But John's heat was terribly obvious on the over score for Colapinto & underscore for John, just too bad. Congratulations Medina !!!!!! From Hawaii really enjoy your surfing!!!!

Much as I don’t like Medina’s demeanor, unequivocal great surfing by him. Unlike the Bell’s final, a decent surf to push our contestants to their limit. A pleasure to watch.
Agree. His personality pretty much puts me off watching any comp with him in it, he’s such a dirty surfer. But by Christ he’s often flawless on a wave.
@@bigjmal he's done some shady things in contests in the past for sure. And the claims are often lame. But please point me to some recent examples where his personality rubbed you wrong. By all insider accounts he is a solid bloke. But hey people love to jump on the hate bandwagon.

C'mon, really... This episode just showed his competitive drive, his will to win. And besides, at that time, it was a move WITHIN the rules. He never played 'dirty' to the point of being disqualified of a heat/comp. Never. Always played "by the rules". People just can't use things like these to justify judging him as a bad person. Nobody here knows him on a personal level, to all of a sudden use his competitive fire as a tool to label him "a bad person". People on his close circle, brasilians or not, always speak great things about him as a person.
Kelly is very well-known about using taunts and tactics in heats to get in his opponents heads, but it's Kelly so it's not dirty. It's being a master of competition... talk about double standards, uh.
The surfing fans/community need to stop this fake nonsense about him being dirty or a bad person, or the 'bad boy' or 'black cat' of surfing. It's been a decade of this crap. It's old. Time to grow up and see things for what they are.
Medina's first wave was better than Pinto's first, Medina's second was better than both and he won an 8... man, Brazilians have to do a miracle to be champion.

The worst thing about these contests are the people describing what is going on. Most people watching are probably surfers, so they don't need to hear this over embellished description as some kind of superman stuff when you pretty much would see the same sort of surfing going on with decent amateur surfers at any break when the waves are good. Not taking anything away from how good these pros can surf, but the announcing gets really tiresome. Unless you live in Idaho or some place like that where there is no ocean and all the excitement gets you interested, turn off the sound, I guess.
Medina no fear. Com ele Todos tem que arriscar mais, dar o melhor em todas as ondas. Porque ele faz isso. E o surf fica mais competitivo e bonito.

He barley made it back in the wave after his last turn and the finish he fell but quickly stood up in the whitewash. 7.5 would have been more appropriate.
