1:28. Semi driver looks pretty distraught. He probably had to look at that right after it happened. I think he needs a couple days off sitting in a dark room just to come to grips with what he witnessed. Hope he knows it wasn't his fault.
Sitting in a dark room isn't going to help...
Years of therapy 😢
He kept driving. He had no clue he was hit.
Alcohol.
After being released he'll have to go do drug and alcohol tests, logbook for that day and the previous 6 months will be looked at and if it's off by one minute they will try to charge him with something.
Several years ago a driver was trying to make it to where he could park and on the way had a reck with an idiot who passed him while driving with the cruise Control on and her legs in a lotus position. She lost control due to a tire blow. End result he was charged and got to be a ward of The People's Republic of California for 5 years.
Many people drive very close to other cars, many times they kiss your butt, harass you on the freeway, keep your distance from other cars, don't be such idiots.

It took a lot of force to shove the tundra so far up the trailers ass.
Exactly! I cannot stand tail riders! You can’t get them to back off for anything! 😡
I drive in the "slow" lane now and put on my hazards whenever people tail me. When they pass me, I basically gesture to them that there's someone in front of me and just hope they feel stupid.
The closer you are to the car in front of you the less inertia you have if they slam on the breaks.

The Tundra driver had to be going pretty fast by the way it’s wedged in there well into the middle of the bed. The entire cab compartment is gone, flattened and peeled back. I don’t know how the person did not see the back of the semi but my best guess is that they were going too fast.
It looks as if the truck had to be stopped, or that Tundra was FLYING!

Looks like the tundra collided with the semi while they were both in motion by how the semi parked on the shoulder. That means the tundra was being dragged and speed was definitely a factor.

Since the truck driver had to be stopped after the collision, it is obvious that the driver of the pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed, over and above the speed limit. My dad's semi was struck by a vehicle as he passed a sideroad and the vehicle's impact wasn't felt (dad was hauling lumber) and dad only realized something was wrong when the semi began slowing and he saw sparks coming out from under this trailer. Why do they extract on the scene in the US? Here we wrap the vehicle and put it on a special truck to extract the body in a special garage. We also put up screens so people/drivers don't see what is going on behind it because it's not a pretty sight not even for the firefighters and they see a lot of these. Special help wil be there to take care off the truckdriver and also for the firefighters. Do you have that in the US as well? Or you always do everyrhing on the spot? Just curious, im from the Netherlands by the way.
Everything on the spot because they gotta do analysis and stuff for insurance blah blah blah and when they’re known to be deceased they just keep them there until the coroner and photos etc have been taken & done their job. There’s not even sight of the body yet because it’s not a body anymore. Usually they throw up tar or sheet up if the body can be seen but you can’t even see it in this. Oh the counseling that’s going to be needed Can’t even see the body. You can imagine though and I’m sure there’s ‘stuff ‘ on the pavement. What we can imagine is bad enough what they’re gonna see is so much worse. Plus, they can’t even get that on a flatbed, and they would never get that on a flatbed and haul it off. It has to be dissected like they’re doing… they’re not even gonna get to the ‘body’ till the end probably. Probably take all night, but they gotta get the freeway back open and that’s a busy freeway here in California.
1:24 - that poor guy. :(
Uugghh! Enough to give truck driver nightmares, especially as he was originally unaware. Shudders! 😢
They were both driving down the highway, the severity of how far the truck was crushed so far back... that pickup driver was HAULIN' really fast at the time of impact. A very heavy commercial semi does normally experience bumps, jolts & similar from road conditions, so the trucker mightve not paid much attention & likely couldn't see it.... but it's not a light fender bender... that impact was harsh... the trucker had to have felt it... but simply couldn't see anything in his mirrors... at least it was an instant passing...
As a truck driver who has been rear ended before, he very much felt that one hit. I got rear ended by a Hyundai SantaFe on the skyway. It was a 15mph difference in speed and I felt the hit, so no way this didn't snap his head back from the violence of that impact. Feel so sorry for that poor driver of the semi.

The semi driver would hear the impact and the noise afterwards and know what happened. These guys probably recognize any unusual sound from the truck right away. They drive them for hundreds of thousands of miles.
@@NickKautzthen why did a witness have to flag him down?
It was because the truck was towing a truck trailer behind the truck he was driving. So the trailer absorbed the impact and the cab was a large distance away too which accounts for noise absorption.

That’s a Toyota Tundra not a Tacoma. RIP to the driver.
People are too cavalier about driving. Pop quiz: How long are the dashes in lane markings? And how far apart are they spaced? I've asked a lot of friends and family this question and the typical guess is 2-3 feet long spaced 10 feet apart. The correct answer is 10 feet long spaced 30 feet apart. They definitely don't look that long when you're driving. But take a look at them from the side the next time you're standing next to a road. They're as long as the cars on them. When you're sitting a few feet off the ground looking a quarter mile toward the horizon, your roadway perspective is very skewed and you don't get a sense of how fast you're actually going. Studies have suggested that the average time someone takes their eyes off the road to send a text on their phone is 4.6 seconds. At 70mph, that's almost the length of 7 semi trucks. A lot can happen in that distance and time span.
I was a chaplain in SF who did next of kin death notifications for SF Crisis Care and we had to be present at the death scene. Even with many months of training in preparation, there is nothing that can really prepare you for this. People are terrible drivers out there. Be careful.
