Couldn't agree more with Johnny about Harchibald and Paul Carberry, just a joy to watch. I lost a packet on him at Cheltenham but I got 7/1 on the day after he traded at 3/1 jt fav through the winter, and for most of rhe race it looked like I was stealing money, but ... alas poor Yorick. Everyone knew he mightn't get up the hill and he didn't. One of the great races though.

I heard that kris Kin was taken out of the Derby before he won the Dante and was supplementary for the Derby which he went on to win, but I can't even see the logic of why anyone would take a horse out of the Derby and then let him run in a notable Derby trial?

Harchibald was very classy and loved jumping. Just 2m and remember extra 87yrds in uphill finish at cheltenham stretched his stamina. if champ hrdl run over 12f or 14f would easily have won 2 or 3 champion hurdle. Remember he is flat bred and had many flat runs in france as a 3 y old. Wasnt a monkey just at high level stamina ran out.
