Im right there with ya when you were talking about the gun range. When you go often, it's a walk in the park~ When you haven't gone in a few weeks or even a few months, you get a bit nervous.
so the first weapon system I got was when I was 9. It was a 1941 bolt action .22LR rifle made by Winchester, still serialed with a walnut polished wood stock. It belonged to my grandfather and he left it specifically in his will to go to me when he had passed the year prior, along with his .38 revolver. I still have it to this day and it is still my #1 favorite weapon in my collection.

So I looked into it and one possible reasonw the British sniper was getting assistance manning the bolt is because it allows him to remain in the shooting position and on target which is a lot harder to do when aiming for a moving target while you yourself are in a moving aircraft.
First pellet rifle at 7, .308 at 11, shotgun at 12. I started deer hunting alone at 10 with a Ruger deerstalker .44 mag, but needed an upgrade...lol. Oddly, I didn't get a .22 until I was 16.
