- For the past fifty years, Ms. Alberta has been living without indoor plumbing. She depends on her nephew and others to bring her water. She is not the owner of the home. She has no children to take care of her. She is turning ninety years old next month.
We take so much for granted until you watch a video like this. It's so sad that we treat each other so badly that we don't help each other in these situations
Ive lived in Mississippi for almost a year and i drive by homes that look like that all the time it's just sad that some people have to live like this.
@@joshuataubel4086 Yes, it much more common than we think. I too live in a poor southern state and when you venture deeper into the more rural areas, you see homes that would appear unlivable but yet people do indeed occupy them.
You are being blessed by being a voice for the poor people who are invisible to the rest of the society. Many people may care but not many take action and help like you are doing. Keep up the good work.

There are Mega churches through out the South where Pastors rack in millions and live in million dollar homes.
See the different between the older generation and this generation! Her yard is clean and her outhouse is clean...that old lady is clean and proud

She has better survival skills than most "educated" people. And when the Shit hits the fan, ya'll better learn from her and other's like her. There's a movement amongst young yuppies to get off-grid. They would happily sit at her feet and learn how she "made it over." It's good to look out after our elderly whether they are rich or poor. Ms. Harrell, I think you are doing a wonderful thing for Ms. Alberta and others like her. God is going to bless you! But I want to know - where are Ms. Alberta's children? Who would let their own mother live in conditions like that? I understand the abject poverty that Ms. Alberta finds herself in, but I can't understand how someone could let their mother live without the basic necessities of life!
That having been said, I do feel that it is incumbent upon the rest of us to help. God bless!

We all going to be looking for outhouses here in a few years.
The utilities in that area need to see this. The infrastructure needs to be routed out there.
I been going to Africa since 1983 and this is laugh able 80% of people in west central Africa would come to AMERICA and live in this happily .. there places in Africa were there no outhouse. If blacks here in AMERICA dont help them selfs why sould the govoment help this a community problem that's blacks need to tackle..

We must first honor our elderly parents. If she is still alive her family should step upand take care of her. Prayerfully if she has children or grandchildren they would step up to help her.

In South Carolina alot of ppl had outhouses well past the year 2000
And if you will, make sure, if you will...we don't have that fly on the left side on the passenger side 'cause that--we don't have that in frame, but make sure we don't have any flies here. And we don't have any flies.

She is too old to fix up her own house and I know even I at 35 could not make significant repairs myself. I have lived in a small studio apartment and in a poorer area of Gladstone,Mo but I lived 10 times better than this. There needs to be better quality affordable housing!
you make it sound as though people useing an outhouse as beaing , completly horrible and almost criminel , hell come up here to alaska go out to some of the rural small towns and the home steads , places where there is no electricity or sewer system you will find out house`s every place some fancy some not so fancy , its just normal up here, a way of life , infact go out to alot of homesteads and you will find some really fancy cheery and yes lovely out house that have been built and being used.

It doesnt look all so bad. She somehow looks comfortable. She is a true survivor.
If it is not her home that she owns, you need to move her to the city and place her in housing, on ssi and food stamps. The government will take better care of her.
Why any of you, who visits her, do not cover that water for her? Put a screen on it to keep the mosquitoes out. How does she live there if she does not own it? Does she pay rent? Who keeps her grass so good like that?
The state GOVT is 2 look into that.

These problems have gone on for quite some time in Mississippi. I will be voting against Obama this election, but if you want the God honest truth, I don't believe we've had a decent president while I have been alive, and I also think that it has little to do with who is the best candidate as to who ends up on the ticket. That has to do with the dollar signs. Whoever has established the most power and money, regardless of their capabilities will be on the ticket.

You're silly being rich has nothing to do with money,haveing a outhouse does not mean poverty. Useing what you have is what counts. Binging up you're children kind, with manners . Is what counts most of all .It's what you leave behind not what you have ...after you're dead and gone nobodys going to care if you had a outhouse or five bathrooms in your mansion. Your children are you gift to the world or you're broken legacy. And I would bet money this old lady had many kids and has grandkids where are they.......
