- It's not shocking that one of my favorite reactions so far has been Rammstein's Till Lindeman performing "Mein Herz Brennt" to the accompanying piano. In fact, the few times that I have listened to Rammstein, the production, Till's vocals and total composition has been breathtaking. And yet I've never seen a live performance. Cue "Engel" with what I hear include legendary angel wings. . .
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Rammstein for the first time live, performing "Engel”.

Please, if you do another Rammstein song, let it be “Sonne”. The chorus melody is so beautiful, one of the most moving songs from them for me personally.
Or buckstabu.
Ohne Dich is probably the most emotional for me personally, but I absolutely love Sonne.
@@keldaris8625 I feel that, it’s definitely pretty and somber. They honestly have so many songs that make me feel something deep.
YES YES YES!
+1 on Sonne. And I would also like you to react to Benzin. Not just for the vocals but for the pyrotechnics too😁
"His wings are on fire." It *is* Rammstein after all. If it CAN spew fire, it probably will at some point.
Flame throwers, glitter and foam - Sonisphere... 2010 maybe? 🤔 (I've been to a few festivals so the years have all blurred, but their set will always be engraved on my mind).
It‘s Rammstein; they don’t have a show with pyrotechnics in it, they have pyrotechnics with a show in it.
i heard an interview about a hungarian pyrotechnic who has done the pyro stuff for really high production movies and has won tons of awards, and she said that the top of her job is being able to do rammsteins live pyrotechnics, she said that everyones dream in that field is to work with those guys because they take on anything and they can get as creative and crazy as they want
Up to and including Till himself. Back in the day, he sang the first song of the evening engulfed in flames. ruclips.net/video/UdIgXCQ-oLI/видео.html
@@kakikutya7912 Wow! Here 3 little snippets from my "knowledge":
1. According to Flake they just stumbled into that pyrotechnics thingy because they wanted to get some real attention in a kind of rehearsal. (And I cannot easily find that interview :/)
2. Till has a license as pyrotechnician. Would not be allowed to do such things on stage otherwise.
3. In 2012 Rammstein bought 1/3 of the annual production of China of Lycopodium powder for their shows. (These are just spores of the plant genus "lycopodium" - oh, called "clubmoss" in English - and produce a great effect)
The keyborad player has a treadmill under him and "walks" 90% of the show. Lots of energy!
Because he'd pace and wander into other bandmates otherwise. Not something you want to happen when intricate pyrotechnics are involved.
I think in a recent interview it was said he walks about 25 miles in one show
@@karkajouautomaton4882 yeah. Ask James Hetfield about that.
@@davidvilchez2209 Maybe 2.5 miles? Normal walking speed is about 5km/h
@@rubenandersen1773 Yes. But one show is more than one hour. And the way he is pacing: that's not normal walking speed.
The fun fact about this song is the album it's from, Sensucht. The keyboardist, Flake, often jokes in interviews that it is his favourite album, because its when Till started singing, rather than just speaking the lyrics.
Lol Herzeleid has entered the chat
@@jasjfl Agreed, I would strongly disagree considering Seemann is on herzeleid
@@MysteriousFigure lol I mean Herzeleid the song more than anything
I wonder if Till is somehow taking revenge for that, because Flake is also the one they usually set on fire at some point during the show?
(I was a show during 2023 and at one point two of them basically got out what looked to be flame throwers and pointed it at one of the three stations Flake was moving between during the concert.)
One interesting tidbit of Till Lindeman's accent or pronunciation is that it isn't a local dialect, but an old fashioned theatre dialect designed to be carried across distances in theatres and still be clearly understood. The fact that Till makes it work so wel with his Bass/Bariton vocal range is a very central component to Rammstein's sound and trademark. And this is just a very small part of what Rammstein has to offer in terms of style and range.
And he uses it in every language. When I read a review of Rammstein's work where the critic complains about that pronunciation, I know the critic is about as familiar with Rammstein as I am with 16th-century embroidering techniques.
@@NavaSDMB Maybe that is something you should look into improving about yourself. A deep knowledge of 16th century embroidery can do nothing but improve your life and all around value as a contributor to society
@@TroublesomeOwl 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve always wondered myself how come so strong and far from hoch deutsch but that explains lot. Thanks
Btw… I think it was 2001 I found them and Mutter war die alle erste Lied… einfach so unglaublich
@@NavaSDMB yes his english lindemann stuff goes also in that direction. the 1st album was in english the 2nd was german
The fact that a number of their official music videos are actually legitimate live performances and not just live footage with the studio recording over it is a testament for just how great these guys are.
we aren't discussing top 40 artists who mime
I hate to correct you but this isn't an actual "official music video". Just a official live recording put out by the band. There's an a actual music video for Engel on RUclips as well
Erm, their official music videos all have studio versions over them
Then again, their live performances are largely pre-recorded... I love Rammstein and given all the show elements it makes sense, but they're just about the last band I'd use to make this point, lol.
@@VanillaLibrarian true
Don't forget: Till is a professional pyrotechnician!!! For real. He knows what he is doing. This why Rammstein uses so much fire and effects. That's why their performance's are so cool. If you listen too the lyrics; it is a complaint to God. It's a dark song.
All of Rammstein are qualified.
Kiss rocks, Rammstein burns!!!
Cool pyrotechnics.
Didn't he get his certifications after something went wrong with a performance, and he wanted to make sure it didn'thappen again? Then, the rest of the band followed suit.
@@Hair8Metal8Karen Yes that is the story. Part of their staging that was on fire fell into the crowd during an early show. You can find videos of it and of Till going into the crowd to assist while the rest of the band played to keep people from panicking. Allegedly after learning that fans were more seriously injured because the people who responded didn't know how to stop the fire/safely move the fallen element the band decided they wanted control over their special effects going forward.
Till studied with an opera singer in Berlin to prepare for this tour. He had to hold a chair over his head and sing to develop the core strength to wear the wings and sing. He also said he hated it because it was such a long drive into the city every week.
Thanks for this very interesting info!!!
Him being able to sing with those heavy wings at all is so impressive. Til is such a unit of a man.
Not to take away from their shows but they do use tracks when performing at times, it isnt a secret. It doesnt matter though as Rammstein is more than just the vocals, its an entire performance.
@@iamaduckquack Yeah but for Rammstein it is usually only for specific parts live. In this song the only tracks you hear from the vocals are the female vocals and the whistle. So it is still very impressive.
@@NHR_Music Very true, I should have been more specific. Thanks

@@NHR_Music the whistle is live, not on backing track
God I'd love to see Till Lindemann sing opera, because that dude has such an operatic presence on stage. Dude would make such a fantastic operatic villain.
Closest thing to it might be from his solo stuff, Lubimiy Gorod:

" Alle Tage ist kein Sonntag" is classical singing.

Till is a beast, those wings weigh 50 kilograms.
Edit: The reason he looks so focussed is because Till has terrible stage fright. He copes with this by playing the character we see on stage.
Till is also moving like Frankenstein's monster in the 1931 movie starring Boris Karloff. They used weighted boots for that effect. The boots also allowed him to lean forward as Till does in this video. Super cool and so referential
I didn't know that! I have to wonder if that also helps him not fall backwards with the weight of the wings, but the Frankenstein creature effect when he walks is an added bonus. Thank you for sharing this bit of information!
Not only was Christian Lorenz (keyboards) dancing a bit during the instrumental break, but he's walking on a treadmill the entire show.
And walks to the beat. If that isn't hard-core flexing your talent I don't know what is
The treadmill is linked to a generator and he's powering the whole arena with it 😜
@@ironmuzz 🤣
He talks in his biography (have no clue if there is a english translation for that book out there), that he simply loves walking. he has loved it throughout his whole live. he was even walking around a lot throughout his whole childhood. He explored the GDR (german democratic republic) on foot. he even got into trouble for it once. And now with rammstein he goes for long walks at every city they travel to. completely alone. sometimes for hours. He just loves to do that. this is his life.
If you are able to speak german you should listen to his two audio books, because he is reading it by himself with his berlin dialect. He's such a likeable guy. Even his name Flake is cool. This comes from a German children book/animated TV show about a little viking boy, called wickie und die starken männer. Flake is the name of the village they live in.
He never skips leglife.
Their concerts are like going to the Metal-Opera. From the vocals, pyrotechnics, to the staging, everything makes up a meaning.
I will never forget the first time I saw them live, it was just amazing.
Guys look at the upper msg, this is not the Official The Charismatic Voice, its just a scam. Please report it, lets stop that scam/spam on RUclips.

I wish opera had as many pyro technics as an average Rammstein concert
Obviously you have never been to an Opera to make such a silly comment
I can proudly say I was in that audience in NYC and I kid you not those flames when they go you can feel the scorching heat dozens of metres away. I can only wonder how Richard and Paul have felt throughout the song and rest of the concert. Given MSG is indoor, the heat stays and it did despite ventilation throughout the entire concert
I went to the IZOD show a few months after the MSG one. The person we got the tickets from double booked them & got us seats a whole section closer to the stage. I could see Richard's face without my glasses. The heat from those flames thoughout that show was insane! It's like Richard & Paul were without a care in the world. The smiles plastered on their faces for that show said it all. It's like they ignored the heat & focused solely on the music & their fans. It was perfection.
I saw them in 2001, big day out. The heat from the flame throwers was insane
I went to the one in San Antonio this year and since it was closed off let me tell you the heat was felt. You sweat instantly and your body just feels warm off the first flame they release. Ventilation does its job but they use it so often it can't keep up for a while but you feel safe enough.
Fkn Awesome 🤘

"When the clouds go to sleep, you can see us in the sky. We are afraid and alone. God knows I don't want to be an angel!" Such a dark song with such a beautiful melody! Rammstein are timeless!
I had to stop for a minute after reading your posted lyrics, the existential angst those lyrics made arise were almost overwhelming, what a terrifying existence of angel they describe.
Fantastic. Thank you.
@@emptyemptiness8372 broken english but:
they live behind the sunshine

The fiery wings are even more impressive in person. Rammstein is ALL about the pyrotechnics and yeah, the heat is intense.
Absolutely. Felt the heat from 30 meters away!
The first iteration of the wings actually dug into tills back and went so deep, that they almost severed his spine. But he didn't stop the song.
@@joshuapilger8430 I've read somewhere that the Wings weights around 40kg (around 88 pounds).
I thought it was a bit closer to 100 lbs. Not sure the exact amount. But they are full metal. I believe the wings are aluminum and the structure is steel. But still, the size is massive.
Yeah man, fire is weird. I once drove like 10 meters away from a burning car and it felt like there was a campfire right next to me
I think something you're missing is that those wings are super heavy because they're made of steel; which would account for a lot of the distrotion in his voice. I'm honestly surprised that he can keep a consistent sound with all that tension he needs to keep in his core.
There's a video somewhere of him backstage before he comes out onstage with these wings, and he's yelling at the band to hurry up and start because the wings are so heavy.
Lindeman is beyond committed to the theatrics of his video performances.. like drilling a hole in his cheek to get the mouth light effect in “Ich tu der Weh”
And his posture too :-)
Interesting point
I think they once said the suit alone weighs like 50k, which is mental.

Hands down the best band I have ever seen live. I saw them 17 years ago at the Volkerball tour in Newcastle England and I was lucky enough to be photographed with my pregnant partner at the time which ended up on the DVD. Yes my now 17 year old Daughter's first gig was Rammstein ;)
Me too, I’ve seen and been to more concerts I can count, and Rammstein are EASILY, the best band I’ve seen live.
that's so sick to hear!! Best parents!
I’m going to see them in July in Berlin. Also 4 months pregnant right now.
I don’t know when they started doing it, but now live during the last chorus Till gets lifted into the air by his wings… fire and all 😌 if you ever have the opportunity to see them live, they are worth every. Single. Penny. It’s more than just seeing an amazing band live. It’s an entire experience that you never forget.
Edit: sounds like they're not doing this anymore, this was back in 2017. I should have clarified!
Saw them in Chicago this year. That was 3 months ago, and I’m still in the afterglow. It was a bucket list event for me, and it blew every expectation I had out of the water. If you’re remotely interested in them, it’s worth it.
I think that might be new. At the concert I visited in July, they did the acoustic version of Engel. Looking forward to the 2023 shows in Munich :)
@@crayx48 this was back in 2017, I think, when I saw them and they lifted Till during Engel, but it makes sense that they would switch things up with tours!
Wait... He's doing the wings again!?
I agree wholeheartedly
When they played the UK, Kerrang magazine rated the show as 6 out of 5 Kerrangs and stated that every gig following this was destroyed. Rammstein are a true force of nature in scope and vision musically and storytelling. Every video is a masterpiece of cinematic glory, every show is mind-blowing. There is no other band like them.

Why I have tickets for both show this year in Denmark, they are so awesome live.
I remember hearing Engel in high school and was immediately drawn by the whistle. Still one of their best songs.

Same here. Jeez feels so long ago.. Anyway this and Seemann their bests imho.
Same here. However, I don't like that they fake the whistle live.
@@vhaarr Because it's not the whistle itself, it's the keyboard sound to emitate the whistle! LOL They were never "singing" it to begin with as it was never intended, the whole "whistling" thing is nothing but an act to go along with it to make it look like they are whistling! If people weren't bunch of idiots and knew a thing or two about keyoboards they would have realized this long time ago!...

I finally got to see them live this year, probably the coolest/wildest live show ive been to! Their keyboard guy walking on the treadmill the entire show while playing was honestly impressive lmao.
Seen them 3 times now and would always choose to see them again if I can afford to. This particular tour is probably my number 2 concert I have ever seen. Number 1 was a video game concert (Distant Worlds) with the composer.
Same here. Saw them twice. It is a proper SPECTACLE.
It's been quite a few years since I was able to see them, and it is still probably the best 'performance' I have ever been to. I would say the stage setup was better for us than what is here, they had a large secondary stage in the middle of the pit with a bridge between the two, and they made full use of both. On top of that, it was like a 3 hour performance, with just a brief 10 minute intermission half way through. The stamina required for doing shows like that is incredible and very few modern acts take live performance so seriously. It's extremely impressive.
When I first saw the treadmill I thought it fit perfectly
@@sneaky_tiki When I saw them they had that same bridge!
Till Lindeman and the group of Rammstein are the truest definition of "musical artists". Not only talented musicians, they are capable of stringing together and painting wonderous stories with the lyrical choices but also the visual performances of the group are second to none. They deserve the red carpet wherever they tour
I highly recommend trying their song "Ohne Dich " it really shows Till's range well.
I was going to suggest this too.

My favorite song. I don't understand the lyrics, but it's as if it hits me different emotionally. I get emotional as if I catch some message and it really touches me
@@andremarco2413 I think when you watch the music video you don't really have to understand the lyrics
@@Adidas_der_schwanger_war yes, it's self explanatory. But even when I had only heard the song
My god, I’ve never watched this live performance before. 16 years ago I was going through a divorce and listened to the studio version of this song over and over. The line “Wir haben angst und sind allein” really resonated with how lonely and depressed I felt. Watching Till’s face fall and then the angel turning and slowly walking away just brought back for a moment the sensation of being in the darkness of mid to late 2006 of my life. What an unbelievable performance. I loved it, but I don’t know if I can ever handle watching that again.
Ride the wave of the guitars, good man. You're not rocking this alone.
The pyrotechnics are Till's design. He is a qualified pyrotechnic technician (not sure of the term.) Just another thing to be in awe about Till's abilities. He always reaches out of his comfort zone to these performances. He's the bee's knees. I f*ckin adore his voice.
All six members of the band are certified pyrotechnicians now. But at the time of this concert, I am not sure if that was the case. Their US tour this year was phenomenal!
And probably the only reason they are legally allowed to do those crazy things on Stage. 😂
And probably the only reason they get insurance for their shows 😂
I think it's just called pyrotechnician. And it isn't just Till anymore, all band members had to get some pyrotechnician qualifications over the years, although you are correct that it started with Till because he used to handle most of the pyrotechnics in the early years.
Yes! Till became a pyro tech due to an incident at one of their shows early on, where a support beam holding a pyro effect fell and caused a few injuries. Most notable, however, was how he handled the incident - the band kept playing and he personally moved the fallen piece, regardless of the risk to himself. That’s not acting, that’s being an awesome human. After this incident he was inspired to ensure nothing like that would ever happen again, and took it upon himself to become licensed in pyro. From the looks of their current stage… that effort has more than paid off.
You can find the video I’m referring to on RUclips, and also some interviews about the incident around the web. Fascinating stuff.
@ 27:50 Till doesn't look alone... he looks dead inside... like an angel in heaven... for ETERNITY... as cold and full of sorrow as a stone statue of an angel.

They gain to be understood, though. The lyrics are a big part of their art, and add quite a bit
I like to read up on the song's meaning and lyrics because usually its cool to see the deeper meaning. Its all intentional from Till. Also its actually a nice way of learning German since you slowly recognise words over time in new songs

Flake has a major part in creating the ambience of the songs with his electronic effects and instruments. He creates an entire tapestry of sounds that you just realize how masterful is, after the 10th listening.
He is a real goat in the background
I think this is the best representation of the "Angel" concept I've ever heard or seen. They have no free will, they are simply the tools of a greater being. Mechanical isn't far off. Obviously, it's Till so it's dialed up to 11.
The guitar parts make so much of the music but Flake is *always* there, making sure there aren't any gaps. It's not a common thing for him to step forward that much but it's always wonderful to see and hear :)
I saw them in the UK in the summer, they did an acoustic version of Engel, with the lyrics projected to sing. along. Total goosebumps
An interesting thing about Till is that he is a certified Pyrotechnic. He also designs and operates every flame spectacul on stage.
The reason why Rammstein is my favorite band is simple: they are unique. It's not only about their music, all their productions, in all aspects, are masterpieces. Their concerts are a whole experience and the last one in Mexico City, from the Stadium World Tour, just blew my mind. 🤘🖤🔥
The whistle has always been there!😎 Not just apart of the show 🔥
If you ever get the chance, definitely see them live. I saw them this past September in San Antonio and it was absolutely incredible. Whistle by itself is the start of the song, not just added in for this performance - it's amazing!
I think she meant the "Ameica" whisper/singing underneath. If I hear correct it is a sample from another Rammstein song. They often use outro/intro's during liveshows
Honestly, your genuine passion and enthusiasm is contagious

It´s impressive how calm Till is. Carrying 50kgs on the back. Such a beast...Till and the wings:)
Rammstein live is just unmatched. By far the greatest show I have ever attended to on the metal spectrum.
Yes, they are in a league of their own when it comes to a spectacle during a live show. Even people who are not into that genre of music usually love the show.
So many great Rammstein songs. I recommend Ich tu dir weh (I hurt you). For the music video Till had a hole cut into his mouth/cheek so a wire could be fed into it to illuminate a bulb in his mouth, creating a really stunning visual effect.

Now that you’ve dived into Rammstein live, I cannot recommend highly enough Ohne Dich from Live In Paris - Till’s performance is deeply moving, and the song itself is a beautiful love song about being away from the ones you love.

I prefer Ohne Dich at Nimes for the audience meltdown.
Live in Paris and MSG are some of the best live performances captured. only thing better is seeing it live
The Keyboardist for Rammstein was originally a classically trained Pianist, whose career path basically disappeared when East Germany ceased to exist. So he became the Keyboardist for Rammstein, which is why Rammstein has always had a very classical sound in their synth.
Flake ist ein spannender Typ, aber ein klassischer Pianist war er nicht
Flake played in Feeling B. The classical element comes from the Dresden Symphony Orchestra
Reacting RUclipsr: The wings are on fire!
Till: They could be more on fire!
I got to see them perform live at Jones Town beach a few years ago and the whistling is the intro to the song, but there is an extra loop of whistling with some more audio mixed in as an intro. The actual performance starts at about 48s and it's just as amazing live when after all the lights and pyrotechnics the whole place goes dark and then there's just this single haunting whistle filling the amphitheater. Love seeing you react to one of my favorite bands!
Edit: The wings are even cooler when they hook him up to a harness and he's singing while suspended above the stage with flaming wings and smoke pouring off them from the flash charges.
First off: thank you for the vocal analysis of the song and their techniques. This goes so far beyond my minimal understanding and it broadens my acknowldgement of their skills and talents even more. Thank you so much for that.
The intro to the Maddison Square Garden videos always includes the whistle as part of the "Amerika Tour" intro. The whistle is part of the song "Engel".
It is also one of their iconic trademarks most easily recognizable as a Rammstein song.
I am not certain if the whistle is actually performed live on stage, or if it is playback. As whistling on tone on demand is such an incredibly difficult feat. Often whistles start off-key by a tiny bit until the exact pitch is hit by the whistler. Whistles change pitch quite a lot with so many different sets of affecting factors, such as air humidity, air pressure, humidity of the lips of the whistler, exhaustion, smoke, etc.
But that doesn't detract from the performance in either case for me. Should they actually whistle live on stage then even more respect for them. That would be awesome beyond all belief, especially if Richard Z Kruspe and Paul Landers whistle in duet.
The wings Till carries for that performance weigh around 50 kgs, so roughly 110 lbs, showing off what a beast Till is, even at his current age of 59 (in 2022). Now imagine carrying that, belted to your chest and belly with a harness cutting off full, deep breathing, and having to try to sing with it while remaining upright after nearly two hours of show.
Hehe, that you picked up on the posture as a characterization of the angel is funny. It probably has less to do with Till's characterization of the angel, but rather the insane weight dragging his whole body backwards from the shoulders. He probably has to lean forward quite a bit to retain his equilibrium vs the insane leverage those wings apply to his whole body. So looking down, and pulling the microphone to him was probably a necessity and not really intentional as depicting the angel. 😁😁
But then again, this is Rammstein we are talking about. It could have been completely intentional, and I am spouting total bollocks here. We'll probably never know for certain.
When it comes to the Rammstein lyrics nearly all their songs that aren't predominantly fun contain very deep, problematic, philosophical aspects. Their tendency to twist them into multiple meanings by using the German language is exemplary. Homophones and double meanings are stacked in such a way that neither interpretation is off the table, often until the very end of a stanza.
Even then the potential double meanings (not necessarily double entendres as is meant in the English language) still allow for multiple interpretations.
That's what is so amazing about Rammstein. You can most often discuss their songs and interpretations for hours without coming to a final true result. None, a few, or even all interpretations could be true at the same time. Fascinating talent there.
Even Rammstein themself rarely if ever comment on the meaning of their songs. They smile and remain mute about it, increasing the mystery even more.
The front line band members are often covered in a flame- and heat-retardant fluid or gel so they can survive all the flaming shenanigans on stage without major burns.
If you haven't seen it yet, you might want to check out "Asche zu Asche" or "Feuer Frei!" for some of their insane pyrotechnical effects they themselves perform.
All of the band members are registered owners of a minor pyrotechnics license, Till even has a major pyrotechnics license under the German law.
"Engel", in comparison, is still fairly tame when it comes to their pyro effects.
Not that those angel wings aren't spectacular, not in the least, but they pale in comparison to the sea of flames that is the stage for some songs.
The whistle is indeed done live. You can see it done by the guitarist after the first chorus. If you listen closely, you can even hear him almost overblow once or twice as he puts out a little too much air, but immediately catches it
Many people dont like Rammstein because they are shocked by the first looks and sounds, but everybody who digs only a little bit deeper into this dark rabbit hole just loves 'em!
the deeper i dive in i realize i never gonna spend money for this. but thats the great thing about music tastes😋
@@jiM.I.O your music taste is weird then hehe. Maybe you would like the studio versions more
@@De-M-oN First i already saw them at Highfield festival and the sound was total shit and you know i just couldnt care less for the show
I love a good concert and there are so many other artists who create better music in my opinion and they only want half of the price 🤷♂
@@jiM.I.O I can imagine that they sound better on their own shows. Festival is not always the best choice tbh.
I never saw Rammstein live though, because getting a ticket for them is as difficult as playing lotto xD
@@De-M-oN Thats the thing as a good band you should always be able to sound good in my opinion
and i dont take the risk pay for their own shows
especially when the music isnt giving me as much as other Bands do
For you as a fan thats sad of course. i hope you can manage to attend a show in the future
I'm so amazed to hear that you loved "mein hertz brennt" it's one of my favourites and you should definetly do more from rammstein. They're musical geniuses and should be treated as such
Wow, thank you for this! This was an experience and very educational ❤️
Now that’s a costume for parties. A great song, fantastic decor, awesome performance.
but not indoors :D
Yeah but will have huge problems to get through any doors.😁
And not for so long. Its about 50 kiligramms or round about 110 pounds. :D
@@LJHacki even 1 minute at a party with this costume will make a lasting impression on anyone present. It’s near unimaginable this is only a song on their playlist, they play so many songs each concert each with the same intensity and dedication. Applaud them is all I can do .
Rammstein = Powerful Art ❤️
If you get a chance to see them live, DO IT!!!
You’ll never, ever regret it! 😱🥰
Agreed. I have always known who they were, recently saw them in San Antonio and now I’m hooked.
I saw them back in '99. I was not ready 😂 I was front and center and got thoroughly soaked during buck dich. But I've been to every tour since!!
Saw them live in Berlin. Great show. They really do pack a lot of symbolism in the costumes and messages.
Incredible performance! Thank you for the commentary! Wow.
I saw Rammstein live in Chicago back in September. It was truly a life altering experience for me. When they did Engel, they took a break for a few minutes to go to the B stage in the middle of the audience. They did a piano version of Engel. After they finished singing, they boarded inflatable boats and had the crowd move the boats to the main stage.
We were there too, and agree it was life altering
Saw them in Foxborough and I agree. Absolutely incredible and life-altering.
We were at that show and by far the best live performance I’ve been to.
I was there too. AWESOME show.
Did the same thing in Minneapolis.
Instant like because Engel is up to this date my most beloved song of Rammstein.
This is my favorite Rammstein song. Possibly my favorite song by any band. It was a joy to watch you analyze and appreciate it.
Over the years I have been to well over 700 concerts from Alice Cooper to Jazz to Philharmonic Orchestras to ZZ Top to Zakk Wylde and this is one my top performances, arrangement-choreography-musical (+Vocal) talent. Gives me goosebumps ... 💪
Rammstein & Nightwish are the two best live shows I've been to. They're the two bands I go out of my way to see every time they're playing within driving distance.
Manowar is incredible live too (but you really need to be live there. On video its not the same, especially with manowar)
I think you would really be amazed and also have even much more to talk about if you watch "Ich tu dir weh" from the same show. Rammstein is unique band, for their performances, music, lyrics... I guess, they are unique in every aspect. And I really think that Till will surprise you more and more, if you continue to explore their music.
Love your reactions and can't wait for more Rammstein. 🖤
I know that the live performance is very effectiv, but if reacting to "Ich tu dir weh", I would recommend the music video for better understanding due to the fact that Rammstein allways plays with the lyrics and often a word or phrase has double or even tripple meanning.
@@ileana8360 Elizabeth always has the lyrics in front of her, no matter if the video has them. So I still suggest the live version, because, seeing how much she liked "Engel" performance, I am sure that she would like this one even more. Music video is not that much entertaning.
@@jovana_r I am aware that she always checks the lyrics and that the live performace is more entertaining. I was reffering to the moment in the music video where he is looking in the mirror. You will not get this twist easily by just reading the words. Or what do you think?
Hi Jovana, once I saw that Elizabeth was doing Rammstein I though of you and hoped you would see it. 😀
@@ileana8360 I agree, but I think that the whole experience will be much more effective if she reacts to the live version. She is aware of twists and double meanings of Rammstein songs. And even if she misses it on first listening, people will tell her.
But that's just my opinion.
Love this song and the incredible performance by Rammstein. The angel/burning wings can also be found in the ‘Deutschland’ MV
I love react to your reactions, it´s so natural, great analysis by the way !!
I just saw Rammstein live at the Philadelphia Eagles stadium and it was the most epic show I've ever seen😭😭giant crowd, pyromancy, and Rammstein music blasting. It was hypnotizing.
I was there too! Such a great show!
I was at the Met-Life show on the same tour back in September. Easily in my top 3 favorite shows, if not at the very top. Weather was shit so crowd was kind of thin but holy hell they played their asses off.
I was there as well! Absolutely amazing show!!!
The feuerzone in Philadelphia was the best! I was even underneath two of three of the boats! Having one of the fire spouts directly in front of you sucks the air right out of your lungs
@@the_zugaroth We were a little further back, about 50' from the stage in the center, just a bit in front of the towers. Got a great view of Engel, though! It was crazy when those towers went off, I damn near got a sunburn!
He is a certified pyrotechnic. I saw them live in Philly this year. So many flames! I was in the pit. Hands down best concert I’ve been to.
WOW You are just amazing! Thank you for your most elaborate discussing. You are a great person. Thank you.
Thank you for teaching me how to listen to this performance, and what to look for in a performance in the future, your insight is incredible. Cheers from Hungary!
if you ever get a chance to see them, do not hesitate. The best live performance I've ever seen.
you can't afford to hesitate for even a second, because it doesn't take much longer for them to even sell out big stadium shows. Rammstein are in their own way bigger than most of germany's music scene combined.
It's so amazing to see how at 20:27 how far he's leaning forward, and knowing with the wings expanded any leaning left or right will throw him immediately off in that direction, with the line of the wings above his head, to maintain normal balance and then singing on top of that core pressure.
Not to mention that he'll barbecue his guitarists if he leans too far to one side.
I enjoy your deep- analysis of the wide variety of songs to which you react. When I first watched your videos, I was afraid you would have a condescending attitude towards metal/hard rock. I was happy to discover your open-mindedness, apparent enjoyment and appreciation for music that may be outside your comfort zone. Thank you so much for not being dismissive of music that speaks to a lot of people's souls. Keep up the good work!
I was waiting for your reaction to the flamed up wings. Definitely my favorite of all the pyro they do. Theres a close second where he has all these flamed jets that come off him over and over that are timed with the lyrics.
Rammstein is really one of the best matches for you. Till's voice offers so much for your deep professional analysis, their stage acting pleases your roleplay soul and the little 13 year Elizabeth loves fireworks and giggles.
So much fun to view. 😊
This performance of Till is quite breathy and I have always believed that it's because he really is out of breath because of the pressure from the wings. Works well anyway. When I saw this live for the first time it was just mindblowing. Such a good song and that show is just amazing.
The Live aus Berlin version of this song is simply fantastic, other worldly. The energy the crowd had was insane.
I just love your analysis! I would love to see more of their live reactions done by you
Till Lindemann has an incredible range of skills. I think he would be a good actor too. If you would like to hear how he sounds in French chanson, I would like to recommend the song "Le jardin des larmes" that he recorded in a duet with the French singer ZAZ.
Greetings from Germany, der Badener
Absolutely. This would be another incredible side of Tills ability to portray duality by acting and singing
I thought I've read about Till playing 'the bad guy' in some German kids-movies.
I got to see them years ago, managed to get on barricade for the show. The flames and heat were so intense my forehead was literally peeling the next day. I've been to hundreds of shows and Rammstein is top 3, hands down. However, if you are interested in seeing just how intense their pyro can get, I would recommend a live version of Feuer Frei. That song has, without a doubt, the most impressive pyro moment in the history of pyro. Plus the song itself is just good fun, Til's vocals are much more animated then in others.
I remember seeing them in 1999 and the flames were so hot, you could feel them at the center of the GA floor. I can only imagine how hot it was in front.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Rammstein. The most incredible live band of the world. ❤️ I have seen them last july, it was the best concert of my life. And seen them in june 2024 here in Europe! I can't wait!
Oh i really like this reaction what you are told me blew my mind and this is probably the 50th reaction of that song i watched. Thanks for that awesome musician or singing/vocalist advise!
I flew down to LA from Seattle for their show back in September of this year, and I gotta say, they're legitimately the most intense performers I've ever seen. And there was even more fire than there was during this performance.
wish i could have made it down to TX for that show....
Till is amazing, guys almost 60 now, and still killing it. I first saw them over 20 years ago, one of the craziest and most memorable shows I've ever seen, and looks like they've pushed it even higher. Hopefully they tour in my part of the world again and I can catch another show.
I saw them several years ago at Big Day Out in Auckland New Zealand headlining with Tool. I've seen Tool times and am a huge fan, but these guys stole the show, hands down best thing I've ever seen.
I personally think that Rammstein ballads are underrated yet the most beautiful part of their repertoire, just hauntingly beautiful, every single one of them. Seemann (note, Apocalyptica did a stunning cover of Seemann with Nina Hagen), Nebel, Ohne Dich, Ein Lied, Frühling in Paris and etc. Till is brilliant in them. I love their powerful, angry and funny stuff too but I think they really showcase the beauty their music has in their slow pieces the most. My top recs would be Seemann and Frühling in Paris (Till sings French in it). 🥰
I think maybe the most opera sounding song, for Lindeman at least, may be "Seemann". He goes really soft, but then also really full and powerful. Also recommend "Zeit". I just love the melody of it. Something about it just flows so beautifully.
Saw them earlier this year in LA and it was easily one of best shows I’ve ever seen. The sheer spectacle was awe inspiring and the performance was masterful
Been listening to Rammstein ever since Sehnsucht was released, still one of my favorite albums! That whole album is amazing, and I have been a huge fan ever since! Engel is still on many of my playlists!
I've seen several live performances of this song and the MSG performance is hands down, one of the best. If you get a chance, watch that entire concert, nothing short of amazing! We were going to try and see them, but they never came close enough to us to be able to make it happen.
Glad you were finally introduced to and started analyzing their music!
Love the channel!
Great Reaction an Analysis. I am looking forward to more of it :)
Engel always gives me goosebumps. LOVE LOVE LOVE this song
Their return to America and Madison Square Garden being the first venue was an incredible concert that I will never forget being there for.
