Can we ever drop the "cento" part for numbers between 110 and 999? For example, when speaking in English, we can change "three-hundred-fiftythree" to just "three-fiftythree" and will still be perfectly understood.
No, that's not possible in Italian, people wouldn't understand you. What you can do, if you need to e.g. for clarity sake. is "spelling" the number figure by figure, eg. "tre cinque tre"
It's very simple to explain: Google translate is often wrong! Not kidding, many times my students come to me with weird or completely wrong translations. It's a typo in the slide. The pronunciation is correct (4 is always pronounced as "quattro")
