Amity in LMP: "You can't risk falling off your throne" Amity in the show: *yeets self off her throne at mach 2 and breaks her leg but it's okay bc wOw SpOrTs* Though I am interested to see how Amity's behavior changes if we start to see more of her parents, even having them interact with Luz and co. She might feel influenced to regress back into being Little Miss Perfect, but she knows in her heart these people have made a positive change in her life and that, even if she only acts "proper" around her parents, it hurts to do since it's not who she really is. It could make for some compelling internal and external conflict.
Amity's confirmed not adopted but I'm willing to overlook that. I think Dana or someone from the team said Amity dyes her hair to look like Mrs. Blight because she likes to have her children look a certain way. I think that's a good first piece of knowledge to know how awful the Blight parents are before we formally meet them. Also, Amity is lesbian and Luz is bisexual
Honestly I kind of interpreted it a different way where Amity overhears her mother make an off hand comment about her hair color and she decides to dye but she dyes it to be a similar shade to Azura’s hair color so she can have a sense of control over her decision.

It dawned on me as I watched this reaction that your choice in color with green Amity telling purple Amity that her crush can't work out really fits with the recent Q&A. The idea that Mrs. Blight has Amity's hair dyed because she likes her children to match makes that color signify that pressure to be perfect that her parents have instilled into her. Just thought it was a neat coincidence :)
This whole adoption by the fandom thing is so much cooler when you realize that the original creator of the song has also done the same, basically accepting that it's Amity's song now, and in response created Ordinary, a sequel to the song written for Luz. Just thought I'd mention this.
Ohh When I first listened to this song my mind went to Regina singing about Janis from Mean Girls (mostly the musical, because its the musical fandom that ship them more) so in my head, the friend was back when the two girls were friends, then the pretty girl being Janis in junior year Then a parallel to this would be Amity's friend being Willow back when they were friends and Amity kissed her then played it off as nothing, with the pretty girl being Luz later in Well, in both of those I imagine the first kiss to be just before they stopped being friends, just to confuse Janis/Willow even more This was a really long explanation just to say I agree with you 😹

Really great reaction aside, I love how much research you'd put in the song itself before watching the animatic! Because I really feel this song and it's meaning are so much more than just a cute shipping song. But I agree, I love how the owl house fandom basically claimed this song and how well it fits Amity as a character. Still, the fact so many people of TOH fandom adore this song so much is likely not only for that reason, but because it's relatable to a lot of people (not everyone probably, but definitely a part of the fandom) which is great and both heartwarming and tearjerking at the same time. Seriously, when I first listened to the song, I didn't expect to get that emotional, and the animatic on top of all that, feels man! But like I said, great reaction!
