Great sparring!Good job on the body with translation on the head!
MadHooker as an sports enthusiast who wants to start boxing I want to know during sparing what is the probability of breaking your nose or going blind? I have heard terrific stories of people going blind after getting hit in the head or breaking their nose on the FIRST day. Does the headgear protect you from broken nose or eye damage? What tips would you provide to avoid such damage?
Yes you can get eye and nose damage from boxing. The human head is not designed to get punched. With that said, that usually happens if you spar too hard too soon. The goal is to find a good gym and a good coach who would take your boxing journey step by step and gradually build you up to harder work.
I've been doing martial arts and boxing for over 30 years and I can't tell you one time that I've seen anybody go blind from boxing. I have sustained an eye injury or have seen eye injuries but they're very minor. If anything bad happens is from going too hard too soon
Great video btw! I noticed that you don't really transfer your weight for your punches which can lead to punches that are generated by the arms which make the punches less powerful. If you transfer your weight for each punch, the punches will hurt since your whole body is implicated in the punch's force.
Thanks for the comment. I’m always looking to improve my technique. That’s one of the good things of filming yourself as you can see all the mistakes that you make.
Can you make steps for a short person to fight a tall person?
It's coming
