    Could you also do ambient sound test so we see self noise level that this mic has.

    what cable to TRS would you advice when running directly via the battery to a DSLR?

      @Touchtechnologyreview  3 года назад +1

      An XLR(female) to 3.5mm TRS - Balanced Microphone Cable would do the trick. Brands to consider include Sennheiser, Connex or Hosa.

    Hello watching your great videos carefully, it would be possible to evaluate differences between Boya by-PVM3000 and ZOOM SSH-6, Rode NTG 4, or Rode NTG8, or Rode NTG-3? The microphones are huge lots, everyone recommends something else and if you don't try it before buying, then I buy something that only writes on paper.Jsem violinist, the problem is metallic strings and horsehair on a loop-is heard the murmur and the microphones helped me too much ZOOM brands. Also, it is an important environment, in Ktrém Sound, as well as the microphone away from the source itself, but this is significantly important to determine usability in ordinary home conditions. E.g. Rode's praised microphones did not meet my expectations and unfortunately I relied on recommendations. I have at home bought 3 types and basically use the camcorder single. Zoom microphones have significantly more filled my expectations. You have great videos, I stay your fan. Wishing lots of health.

      Thanks for watching I am not sure i'll be able to get my hands on all of these. Now I do have a Rode NTG 2 which is the closest one to these Boya mics. I mostly use for voice so not expert on violin. I have heard that the Rode NT5's are supposed to be pretty good for this type of thing but haven't tested. Thanks for watching the video sorry I couldn't be more helpful with regards to your specific question....

    sir...if i use zoom h6 phantom power...does it require me to place a battery in either 3000S or M?

    • @Touchtechnologyreview
      @Touchtechnologyreview  3 года назад

      The AA battery is for when you do not have phantom power available. So if using the zoom and have activated Phantom power then no battery needed on either the 3000S or 3000M.

    How is the handling noise of these new models? I bought a Boya shotgun (but it was a long time ago so I'm sure it was an old model) and I returned it. I mounted it on a shock mount on a boom pole and I heard handling noises at the slightest movement of my hands. It was impossible to use unless you fix it on a c-stand.

      Come to think of it I didn't really test that extensively. Not any noticeable handling noise when i moved it around in the studio but will have to give it a further test soon doing hand held testing. Will let you know.

      @@Touchtechnologyreview Thanks! Would also be interested on the gain setting of your H6 when using the microphone. Right now, I'm using the Rode NTG2 and I have to push the H5/H6's gain knobs to at least 6 to get decent levels. If I go higher than that, the hiss becomes very audible.

      I usually set the zoom to about 4-5 at max but can’t remember exact number on Boya and Rode that I used so will set up soon and let u know.

      @@braveclyde OK just tested again. I mounted the PVM300 onto a boom pole with the included shock mount and moved around the house. Overall great handling no noise at all with smooth movement. As expected any tapping or really abrupt movement can result in some handling noise. As for input level i set it to 6 which gives me -12 and there is very little line noise at 6. If I set it to 5 it pretty much eliminates all noticeable line noise but it records at around -18. So in summary you can take it up to 6 get a great signal and not have much noise to deal with at all. Anything above 6 is just too noisy. The NTG 2 can only go to 4-5 before you hear too much line noise. The self noise on it seems to be much higher.

    Great video mate - sounds great. I upload Guitar Lesson/Gear videos here (at ruclips.net/user/simonmorelguitar) and while I'm pretty happy with the vocal audio, but I'm thinking of adding a shotgun. I've been using a lav mic for the last little while (prior to which I used a pair of condensers), but thought I could add a shotgun to have 2 mic line ins for a bit more control. I'm thinking the 3000M (or L) looks good. I was considering a Rode ntg3 (obvs more expensive), is this an apples and apples comparison? I'd be plugging it into my audio interface (which will provide the phantom power). I see from another comment below you have a NTG2. How would you rate the boya versus that? They look about the same price? If you would be able to let me know that would be ace! Thanks mate, all the best Simon
