The last time I flew into Wellington was in 2007, returning from a visit to Oz with the outlaws. We arrived in the small hours of the morning, the weather wasn't great (rain), and the terminal was undergoing some kind of renovations. My thought was something along the lines of, what a dump!
Flying in a PC-12, Cessna Caravan, Q300 and lessor extent an ATR72-600 across Cook Strait can be a white knuckle experience in a good Northerly breeze.
one time I had a camera and I was just taking photos of an all black q-300 in nelson and nothing happened, that's a bit weird! Also, welcome to windy wellington, I've never seen a smooth landing there, I go planespotting there and its crazy
Cheers - but what I have seen in other clips, I wouldn't have any hesitation flying Sounds Air across Cook Strait, but my fingernails would be shot to pieces !
Nice report! I don't get the paranoia of ground staff about taking video/photos. At many airports in NZ you see plane watchers standing next to fences taking photos of planes departing or arriving & even when the planes are loading food carts & fuel. And no-one seems to care at all.
THe fact I was in Nelson less then a month ago that literally was the same origin air flight that was there when I left they also gave and the most freaking disrespectful side eye when I was taking pictures on my Nikon
Another awesome review Luke
Cheers!
Great video. Looks like the experience in the air was a lot better than on the ground.
💯
Nice one, been looking forward to your review of this particular flight for a while
Great video, great airline 😊
Thank you!

You know it's going to be a good vid when Luke says "Sh*t Show" 2 minutes into it!
You know me!

Nelson is an unfriendly place at the best of times.
You don’t say…
I'm never keen on a single aisle aircraft but I definitely draw the line at single engine ones. lol xx

Can you fly on dash-8
I haven’t flown on a dash 8 in a while… guess I have to now!
Interesting way of pronouncing Pilatus 😅 Pi lah tus 😊 I know what you mean though great video
Sounds Air have ditched the Wellington to Taupo route. The route will be picked up by Origin Air
Might have to give it a go at some point
