Hi Teo, its a good series you are making, I am watching to the end of the build to see you enjoy sailing the goose, I really like watching your GIS sailing vids
Your glass looks great! It looks so close now, but I remember how long sanding took me. If you are going to paint you might not need to be so particular. I don’t miss the dust!
@@TheBoatRambler my clear finish didn’t hide much at all! But I can’t be too precious, it was made to be used, which inevitably means bumps and scratches anyway!
You can construct a sharp edge for the transom out of thickened epoxy on the outside of the glass (use really thick epoxy with a putty knife, then sand it to a knife edge when fully cured).
Hi Daniel, I have actually done that already!! Now that you mention it I realized I forgot to edit that clip into this video! 😅 No worries, I'll show it next week!
Great job! I can't wait to see it on the water and learning your final thoughts on the build, lessons learned etc. How close did this boat meet your criteria on weight and performance. We are all benefitting from your videos. Thank you very much.
Looks realy nice😃. Now I dont remember if the bottom already had epoxy, and was then sanded down (dont think so) ?.. In other videos I have seen some recommend soaking the plywood in epoxy 3 times before placing the glasfiber.. Reason being, that "dry" ply will soak the epoxy out of the glas before it cures..But it seems not to be the case here. It looks perfect. Thanks for sharing..
Hi, the bottom was not coated first, that's why it soaked 900g of epoxy on the first coat! But as long has you wait till it gets tacky it will give it time to absorb all the epoxy needed. After all it's only 1mm plywood layer before it reaches the first glue in the plywood. After that, the second coat will fill the weave nicely.
You should! Epoxy is a gamechanger in boat building. You mix, apply, wait 6 hours and the joint is stronger than wood itself. Glass I don't like much but it is really useful too.
When you use it you leave the tape on and cut it off after it has started to cure. Stops all that nasty fraying that never lays out anyway. Does that make sense?
Teo hasn't seemed so chipper with this build. almost as if to say " you know you guys are making me do another technical skiff build video series, when I want to spend more time with my young lady friend " I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
@@TheBoatRambler I am sure the Oz Goose will be more appreciable, for those who knocked it, from the first hand sailing view. because it will be fun to sail.

Hi Trevor. Thanks for your support buddy. I had to pay to bring my car when I returned from the UK too, it's the law. And back then UK was actually part of the EU. But, I would kindly ask you to keep comments within the boating universe. 😉 Cheers, Teo
Enjoying watching your build Teo. It’s coming along nicely.
Thank you! 😉

Hey Nathan,
I can't wait to get it ready to go on the roof-rack and take her sailing other waterways! 😁
Excellent job Teo
Thanks Mike!
here we are.. getting advice from a portuguese speaker..wonderful if you have that ability.
Welcome to Planet Earth. We have no official language here.
Top Tip on glass vs. Ply. I’ve already forgotten it, but it’s not your fault I’m a goldfish. Thanks anyway!
no worries, I have my goldfish moments too, and more frequently too! 😅
Ah glasswork, the endless sanding. Be strong :D
It's mostly done, only fillets left... And I managed not to sand the glass itself and didn't get any stinging on my hands and harns! 😅
Your glass looks great! It looks so close now, but I remember how long sanding took me. If you are going to paint you might not need to be so particular. I don’t miss the dust!
Hi Rob.
Actually, if you varnish it, the wood grain will "hide" imperfections better than a glossy paint.
@@TheBoatRambler my clear finish didn’t hide much at all! But I can’t be too precious, it was made to be used, which inevitably means bumps and scratches anyway!
A good saying I have tried to live by. "How you do one thing is how you do everything." Keep up the good work.
Well said! 😉
"With" the water (?) Great work Teo. gary in japan.
😁 Thanks Gary

There are no mistakes in the construction of a boat, one is simply building character into the vessels involved with the process...
👣🕊👽
...and just like pp some will have more character than others! 😅
Nice job , looks great!
Thanks Nathan
Great work again - you are such a perfectionist... No one will see the bottom, unless you are planning to capsize 😀
I intend to capsize it at least half a dozen times!! 😁

Hi Jim,
on paper the boat got top marks on almost all requirements, let's see in real life how it fulfils my needs.
Excellent video, I've learnt more watching this build than with any other series...
I'm really happy it's useful for others!
Beautifully filmed and explained as usual Teo. Looking great!
Thanks for watching Paul!
Thanks for explaining the process and also the advice on material thickness. The boat is looking good
Thanks Paul!

I have never worked with glass or epoxy!!

Hey Teo, Tuhinga here. I put a length of masking tape along any pieces of cloth before I cut it to stop fraying. Works a treat. 😉
That's a good tip! Wont it pull the threads when you want to remove it?
When you use it you leave the tape on and cut it off after it has started to cure. Stops all that nasty fraying that never lays out anyway. Does that make sense?

@@TheBoatRambler true... it always gets more fun toward the end of a build though, how do you explain that?
@@TheBoatRambler but I do agree, there is something with any hands on bringing of something into reality.

Hi Ben,
being optimistic...first week of April! 😁😅
