Awesome video! I think that bails could be made where they have more protection like if a fish just tries to run away with your rod and slams your real into something. I really think that there is a way to protect your bail, drag knob and other parts of the real without cutting out performance
Hi Guys .. I have a question ... Looking for a new Reel .. Friends are suggesting the Shimano TwinPower XD 5000.. I am note quite sure about that reel.. would you recommend any Daiwa model .... I only fish on shore..target GT/Spanish Mac..
Another fantastic thing is the 8000/10000/14000 spools interchangeable on purpose. I own an 8000 and a 14000 spool literally two reels in one. The 18000 and 20000 same deal.
@@kiriathherrera26 The spool is similar in size the gearbox same just different gearing I chose 8000 but you could buy a 14000 to get the XG and down size to 8000 spool
im confused with the salitiga..i know they start off at size 8k up but are these suppose to be half the number size...like 8k is actually a 4k size or the 8k is really an 8k...daiwa sizing is always subject to change every model. i wish they were more transparent with their sizing. @@kamadowoah4584 You wish they can cast further they wind on load easier and they are more durable and that’s the facts just check comparing test from Japan and you will see the truth they know much better than everyone over there.
Have they fixed the shit paint from the 2015 saltiga? I have an old stradic fj that has fared better than my 2015 saltiga with regards to the paint peeling from the foot of the reel. I was disgusted at spending 1k for a reel to have the paint peel off it.
Tackle West Thanks for that. I contacted Daiwa about a warranty claim for the paint and they couldn't give me an answer via email and want me to send in the reel to make a determination, which is interesting considering they have specifically addressed the paint issue. Thanks for the response, appreciate the info.
Has there been no other metal drag knob in the history of spinnng reels. Now Daiwa has put on a metal drag knob and banging on about heat dispersion knob. Its a metal knob...wow! thats all. These big companies marketing depts are amazing! Monocoque body... is not really , it has a side plate AND a back plate that both screw in, so thats an oxymoron right there! And again Van Staal been doing that forever. Dont get me wrong, it is a lovely reel with amazing technology and a great drag. but the marketing nonsense from these companies just gets too much
EXPEDITION 5500(also radiation knob) versus SALTIGA 14000!!?........now daiwa copy to shimano!: 6.2 ratio xg, colours, sizes... now it has a larger gear(more torque) and lighter (because it is made of aluminum, not bronze)......less gear noise? should be seen after 500h of fishing
Like any manufacturer the flagship reels carry less profit margin compared to low-mid range reels. The materials used in these high end reels cost money. As the saying goes, "buy cheap buy twice". These reels are made to last for many yrs. You can argue that you can buy 3 saragosa reels that can also last for years, but once you own a high end product, it's hard to look backwards. Smoothness, durability, reliability are important aspects for those who chase big fish on the regular. If you want value buy the Catalina. Great reel with Saltiga gears and will also deliver greats results.
@@slyarsenal CATALINA is perhaps one of a kind at entry level in the expensive range (you can put for topwater the torque or makaira).... However in the middle range there are SERIOUS REELS, like CABO/SPHEROS for jigging, SARAGOSA (they are missing in big sizes+5.7ratio!!), SLAMMER....also bigger BG, AZORES, LETHAL100 can do the job!
@@caranx89 Ive had most of the reels you mentioned bar the Slammer and Azores. I still have the 20k gosa. The more high end reels do come in 5.7:1 ratio such as the Catalina 6500, Expedition reels and other Saltiga reels. Im more a power or low gear guy, even when it comes to throwing out poppers and stickbaits. Comparing the Cabo, Azores, saragosa etc to the Catalina is like comparing apples to oranges. As i said Ive owned most of the reels you mentioned. I gave them away for a reason. You get what you pay for.
@@slyarsenal shimano could have released the spheros&gosa 20-25k fast ratio 5.3 (like bg or slammer hs) to 5.7, 17-23% to faster.....When I talk about 5.7/fast ratio it is a reference, because in reality the important thing is the RETRIEVE (ratio x spool diameter: old dogfight 6500 6.2ratio=144cm= the 8000 with 5.7). First Catalina 6500 came backwards!, in low ratio, curious.....And nobody can compare a saragosa with catalina!!. It would be ridiculous, because different prices are in range x2.

They look 🔥 nice review!! I got the old model and I agree with the the drag knob is a bit small. 🤙

Does that new Saltiga back top cover come off from a screw like Daiwa's other spinning reels or are they perminittly part of the body.
Hi mate that part comes off
Ouch! That's the only change I hope they make. Thanks for your videos!
Thanks for the video on the saltiga 2020
Which Daiwa rod would pair well with the 8000-H reel? Thanks
