I like Hobonichi & the Weeks because I end up spending less money over the course of the year because I don’t need to buy as many accessories like with the Travelers’ journals or rings or any system like that.
Woah! I really got wrapped up in planner chaos, too this year. It must be in the air. I went from the bullet journal system that I used for over 5 years to a Cousin. Which I loved until I got a Weeks. That one took me by complete surprise as I didn't think I would like it the way that I do. But wow. I have gotten to the point that I am not loving carting my Cousin around with me everywhere. The weekly section feels like complete overkill. I don't need it for memory keeping, I desperately need functionality since I work full time, I am a mom, and a wife, I go to school full time, and I am trying to get a handle on my health and fitness. I don't need overcomplicated, I just need seamless and easy. I purchased a Cousin for 2023 but think I am going to go with a Weeks Mega (which I also purchased) and use that for my main planner. I have loved rewatching your videos on how you used your Weeks as a bullet journal. It really hits all of the boxes for me. For now, I am using a pocket bullet journal to take with me everywhere. Not sure about the Cousin at the moment. I feel bad for abandoning it, but at the same time, I am kind of done with it. Gimme easy! Thank you for sharing your content and your realness. BTW I am super excited to see your Weeks make an appearance on your video!
The Leuchtturm1917 pocket dot grid book has become an obsession of mine as well, lol. I love how the paper feels and works. The size is so portable and feels good in hand. Wish it was cheaper, but can't complain because the product is so good.
I think your style looks absolutely beautiful no matter which planner you are using! Using so many planners and journal would drive me crazy 😅 but I love seeing how your planning and journaling looks in all of the different systems. I wished I could make my pages look this neat and beautiful 😍
I also bounced in and out of what felt like ALL the planners this year! I've been most consistent with my Cousin, but I'm switching to the Sterling Ink planner for 2023. I keep trying to find an excuse to use the Weeks and the LT1917 Pocket because I love both so much!
I have been gifted at least four of the LT1917 A6 notebooks (low spend if I use what I already have!) and I agree the lay flat would be ideal. I also love how your weekly spread gets interlaced (although you have to draw it out) versus having to flip to the preprinted spreads in a hobonichi weeks. I am getting lots of great ideas from your channel for my 2023 setup - thanks!
Thanks for watching! I love the kind of organic feel you get when things happen chronologically with weeklies, dailies. But sometimes it’s so nice to have the spreads all ready to go
As someone who is still figuring out my ideal planning set-up I really really appreciate these videos and you talking through it all! For now I'm sticking to a A6 bullet journal for 2023 because I still had that lying around, which is new because I used to do B5. For 2024 I am slowly getting convinced to go over to hobonichi. You and thecoffeemonsterzco are convincing me because it looks pretty and functional without too much effort (like my bullet journal) on my wrist in terms of setting things up! (My bujo is basically just a selfmade hobonichi without the daily pages and I'm missing the daily pages in my notebook so I use notion but I am not loving it. For now I'm finishing my bullet journal B5 unfortunately!
I had left over weeks paper I never used. I took it out of the weeks planner and sewed a mini notebook with it. 38 total pages and skinny as can be, and I put it into the back of a planner I am starting my 2023 with. It is my collections notebook, bc the planner I got doesn't have any extra pages in the back.
I agree with ALL of your logic here. I’m having the same issues with having to repeat the yearly info when I have outgrown my notebook. Decisions, decisions in looking for a happy medium. Thank you for sharing!
Laying flat is really important to me too! 🙌🏻 I love Traveler’s Notebooks but it not laying flat drives me crazy. I’m going to try a cut down A5 Stalogy and see how that works. Tokyo Pen Shop now offers a cut down service!
The Stalogy lays flat beautifully! It's also fairly easy to cut down imo, so I highly recommend it as an alternative. It's also more bang for your buck it seems.
Leuchtturm pocket is the first notebook I ever finished fully. It's surprisingly really nice to use. I wasn't expecting it because it's pocket size, but it's really inviting for some reason. I also made the cover cute by drawing a really simple logo/picture that goes with the cover color on the blank sticker they give you so it looked pretty nice.
Look for a prespaced planner with your weekly to the left where you can put in the dates and a dot grid on the right page, then you'll have the best of both worlds
I understand exactly where you are coming from. I am hoping to stay with the Common Planner from Sterling Ink and the undated Hobonichi A6. I find that the A6 has been the best size for me so far. I use the passport right now for taking notes for my studies right now. I find the inserts are great for individual things I need to know for each part of my research.
I picked up the new Sweet Freckle weekly diary - same as the weeks but white TRP with 365 blank pages in the back. So unsure though! Partly considering a pocket ring’s reference planner and a LT1917 bujo for the every day. Also super torn so you’re not alone!
I have a field notes sized notebook that mostly fits in the passport TN (peeks out a little!) Also smaller than the A6, but I can change between the two very easily. But, yeah, with the Passport, so cute!
I see stardew valley calendar when you flip your pocket bullet journal 😎 I also put some game infographic on my bullet journal so i don't have to browse the net everytime i need to look up something.
I am going back and forth between the A6 LT1917 and the weeks. I love the passport but the not laying flat is an issue. I like that I can get everything in a weeks, but it’s something at the A6 LT1917 that makes me happy. I just hate I can’t do a full year.
My brain craves that full year in one place once I learned it was possible in hobonichi! Otherwise I think I’d learn to make the a6 work bc it is so portable
I'll be keeping my Hobonichi Cousin for journaling like I did this year, but you convinced me to try the TN Passport. I've fallen down that rabbit hole hard. I might even use to to keep track of the K9s in the house because we just added two more to the pack who are probably going to be foster failures. lol. I too wasn't feeling the Weeks this year. I started one for health and fitness tracking, but I'm looking at an A6 for that for 2023. However, I've decided that 2023 is going to be the year of travel soooooo I have an insert I'm going to use exclusively for that in the passport. I did order a weeks for 2023 just in case LOL
I have been going back and forth with my Hobo Weeks and A5 Take A Note planner. I love the Take a Note Planner but it sometimes it just to big to bring around especially to work. Plus, I did find my planner peace with my Hobo weeks. So I am torn between the two. Hopefully, when I get my A6 Take a Note planner I can finally decide.
Have you considered putting the pocket bujo (leuchturm) into the pocket TN? Just combining the two? You might need a different leather cover to be able to put it in, but you could still use all other TN accessories? Food for though 🙂 I want to combine everything all the time but often that is just not practical... Planner struggles here too
Lindsey love my tn passport. Trying to get my wife a one per page daily calendar that’ll fit into the TM passport cover. Any suggestions any insight on what one day per page calendar may fit
I’ve not used felt pens before I’m still in the search for a great pen that doesn’t bleed through. I’ve seen a few of your videos and seen the black that you always have attached to your planners. Can you share a bit more of your favorite pens please. Thank you.
Here’s a link to my most recent pen favorites video. I pretty much use the pilot vanishing point in extra fine - it’s a fountain pen with de art amentis archive ink. My back up pen is a uni jet stream in 0.5 What's In My Pen Case | 2021 | LindseyScribbles ruclips.net/video/zx-bCcbROPw/видео.html

The cover appears to be a clear cover for the Weeks; you can pick up both accessories from the Hobonichi store or most retailers like Jetpens, etc. You can also find plastic covers on Etsy if you prefer the design selection, etc. Good luck!
How do you get so many inserts and things into a passport. I have 3 small inserts (a 2023 monthly and 2 80 page TR inserts) with a clear zipper and it hangs out so badly. I’m looking at yours and it seems even in the outside edge if that makes sense.
I love your videos but I really miss the functional side that you used to have in the past, when you took the time to explain your goals and how you would divide them into different quarters. Also the PowerSheets video is my all time fave on your channel. This could sound rude but it seems like nowadays it doesn’t matter if your planner is working to help you achieving your goals, is more important to have 10 different planners (even if is just one that is truly helping you), make them look cute and getting 1000 unnecessary accessories to make it as more time consuming and unmanageable as possible but cute. It seems like the planner beauty standar is a thing now lol.
hate to hear that, but thank you for watching and sticking with me. I usually try to focus on the process behind what I’m doing over what I’m physically planning in, or if I’m finding something more functional for specific reasons etc. It’s sort of why I stopped doing plan with me videos bc I felt it ended up being more about which stickers I used over how I filled out my weekly / daily. Would you say because I’ve tried so many different sizes that it comes across as more about things being pretty? Or more the pulse of the community in general? Trying to wrap my brain around changes I could make
Hey Lindsey! Is more about the community in general, but don’t get me wrong as I said before I really love your videos is just that I miss the intentional goal section that you used to have last year when you were using just the hobonichi weeks. XO
@@yahumee gotcha. I think I’ve winging my goals a bit this year (😬) but I’ll keep that in mind for 2023 goals planning etc. gears are turning and thanks for the feedback!

I like my Chic Sparrow Narrow because it lets me fit more inserts than a TC cover. It’s been my happy place and I’m continuing it for next year!

I think that would make a great journal option knowing you’d get one page per day 🤔
I use a Personal size Madori which I use for journaling and the HobonichiWeek for other things

I plan to be in weeks for journaling and memory keeping and the standard TN for my main planner.
I totally get your thoughts on the Standard size. Practically it makes so much sense but I just don't get drawn to it the same as the Pocket!

What if you set the passports out of sight to see if you’d be more content with the standard/mega combo?
Have you looked at the Midori MD diaries? They have the same paper as the Traveller's inserts but in A6 and other sizes.
