This is my home river. I live just a few miles from the Head of the James where the Jackson and Cowpasture have a confluence to form the James. I paddle the James mainly at Balcony Falls, a 2+ section with arguably two 3- rapids. There are also some decent rapids in Rainbow Gap on the Jackson a few miles before the confluence. The Maury at Goshen Pass, the Tye, and the Bullpasture are also great whitewater sections that are tributaries to the James. Thanks for sharing Virginia in Appalachia, the James River (America's River: Jamestown, Richmond, and major battles of the Civil War occur all around it. The James is a vital part of America's founding and perseverance.), the Allegheny Range, and the Blue Ridge Range with the world. I still need to try to paddle with you one day Pete. Keep sending it and thanks again for all the things you do for the paddle community.
I have kayak that section so many times. Also floated down portions of it in a John boat doing some smallmouth bass fishing. I have Kayak from Glen Wilton - Locher Landing in Glasgow. Never camped it but a section at a time. I live at Smith Mountain Lake so its not that far of a drive to do some Kayaking down the James.
Would you definitely recommend the dagger Katana for my wife and I for a good cross over kayak.if so could you recommend a good store to order from we live in Kansas and no one around here sells dagger.
Yes, the Katana is a fabulous boat and should serve your needs perfectly. As far as ordering, that is a good question. There is likely some shops in the TN area that will carry Dagger.
beautifully done as always
