I still miss the original channel content. But do not give up your faith!
I've been a sub since the Ohio garage days. Those were the good old days before censorship
This is the kind of video I've been hoping to see. Someone showing different trials , the results , pros or cons. I bought a brand new Lincoln Electric 180i HD DV for 1/2 price. Changed the liner to teflon before running any wire through it. I'm going to use .030 wire (5356) like you but a .035 contact tip to supply more room as the Alum. ovals out (expands) near the heat. I'm glad to see the different bend shapes that still allow the wire to push through.
Thanks for the science of aluminum mig welding video,
Sincerely ......................
Nice to see the old videos coming back. I hope you keep making new videos though 👍
Wow, i remember this video !!!
Hey it's Zila!! Chuckee's Friend.
Hey mate I am really like the old video you are up loading keep them coming. Really want to see all the bbq smoker builds please. Thank you
On the upside, Everlast does sell nylon inserts in case you want to do this. They do recommend using 5000 series wire because it's a bit stronger. Push pull guns work quite well, but not many exist and they are not cheap.
My mig units of yester years came with a Teflon liner for aluminum to replace the one for steel.
hello from central Ohio
Holy shit it’s chucke! I used to watch his videos all the time was wondering where he went.
I have seen that for some welders you can purchase a plastic liner just for aluminum wire.
I only have a 100 amp mig with just Hi /low switch and wire speed . Oh and unfortunately gas-less, I obviously need to try and pick me up a cheap better mig. You make it look so easy.
Interesting times!
I bought a cheap second gun and liner off ebay and cut it down to like 1 meter and I never got one single birds nest. I burnt a few tips, my welds had plenty of contamination and they always had the occasional pinhole but it did the job. I've been driving around with my cut and shut intake manifold for over 6 months now.
Wow, taking it way back to the old Ohio farm shop!
Try running the whip over your shoulder for a more ergonmic grip on that odd but useful whip. Cheers 🍻
I guess the contaminaton is the aluminium oxide, soon as you clean the metal, the oxide forms in seconds.
Chuckie!!! I cant believe I found you again! What happened?
Consider building a mechanical clutch linkage for zetor tractors. Mines out again. I ask dealer if they had one available? Snicker, you wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve been asked that.
nylon liner is needed. then the least amounts of bends and the largest dia wire your rollers take. Also us 5356 wire as it is stiffer than 4043. $043 is very soft and you have zero chance without a spool gun or push pull gun.
Should’ve done a few weldes with the spoolgun just for us to see the difference
Why the contamination??
Im making a spool gun from parts i ordered on line that was not for my weld machine..the Chinese said it was but no...
👍
We're you running Flux core wire before you changed to aluminum ??
What shielding gas did you use? The carbon (CO2) in your shielding gas will cause a sooty contamination which is why 100% Argon (without 25% CO2) is necessary.
Maybe turn down the wire speed
what wire and tip size did u use?
💯👍💪🙏
Wait... Why are you holding the MIG gun in such a weird angle..? You can run it at the normal angle
This was back in Ohio right
Your head is far too close to the smoke, ever noticed there are no old welders knocking about?
Fing birds nest...bummer
So, ... it's sort of possible, ... but why not MIG it instead ?
Its the wire get on to manufacturer ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
what?
Chucke2009.. I've seen quite a few videos on that channel I don't know whatever happened to it.. I think your buddy Stephen Cox. Fell off the edge of the Earth to I don't know what ever happened to him.. I watched a few other channels where they change the liner to a red plastic tube,, upsize the tip. Straightened up the lead to the gun to make it flow through a lot better.. it didn't really answer my Pacific question.. I don't do a lot of aluminum welding so I can't justify buying a specific machine Pacific setup for between five and ten thousand dollars for something I'm going to do once or twice a year.. I have aluminum stick welding electrodes but that's really messy and mostly I end up passing aluminum truck tool boxes.. I have an Ironman 240 and I just don't want to spend $850 on a spool gun.. or $2,800 on a push pull gun.. but I want to be able to mig weld with my Ironman 240. .063 or 1.6 mm wire.. mainly because I can buy like 25 lb rolls for like 60 bucks that fit perfectly on my iron man 240.. and I also have some special projects that I want to do and I need to fill a void and 2 inch thick aluminum plate.. and you're probably thinking well if I can afford to buy 2 inch aluminum plate than I can afford to buy any Welder I might need.. and that's where you're thinking would be wrong.. because the aluminum plate that I need you can't buy.. you can't buy it because there's no way anyone could ship it.. so if you want what I use for my hobbies.. you have to collect a lot of aluminum and make it yourself or by 2in thick plaits and weld them together to make 4 disc's 52 feet in diameter..
