    Very nice....and a great deal at that price. I got one in BR Blue in N last year for about 70 Pounds and it too is a beautiful model.....good job as always on the review!
    Take care, Mark.

    Just seen this Callum! Great DMU set (I think I’ve got one somewhere, if not, I’ll be looking out for one!) Anyway, I understand DCC & DCC sound fitting into these can be a bit of a “problem” due to the space available. I remember these in both Green and Blue/Grey periods so I’m particularly fond of them. The 105 “Cravens DMU” is also a favourite. Best wishes, Bob

      Thanks Bob! Certainly is a superb set! Hmm, will have to have a look, as I am tempted to DCC Sound fit it at some point :) Glad you enjoyed!

    Excellent review Callum, I also got one of these sets from my Lovely Wife via Santa. Brilliant piece of kit, also from Hattons. They are also doing the Heljan Lion at a Bargain price. My Wife also bought me that one for Christmas. Beautiful model with excellent detail, I can highly recommend that one to you as well. Thanks for sharing another great video. Kind regards. John.

      FGW2012 Thanks George! Sorry for the late reply, RUclips marked you comment as spam. Though you would get that one! I hear there is a 142 Pacer on the way from another company in FGW livery, with Bristol TM as the headboard!

    Nice review Callum. attention to detail by Bachmann is astonishing, the vertical exhausts the icing on the cake!! As a Derby teenage spotter in the 60`s saw many of these units ex-works fresh from the "carriage and wagon" as we used to call the works.often shunted around "dead" by a green 03 diesel shunter , I believe Bachmann have a nice weathered one coming out March time,,,, look good together !

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  9 лет назад

      SuperWHIZZO Thanks mate! It sure is a stunner! Yes, they did it for me as well ;) Sounds like that was a sight! Hmmm, you never know. Must say the BR 03 sure does look good too... ;)

    It is grand. I love those speed whiskers. My Derby Lightweight has them. Those couplings are my favorite. I have bee retrofitting many of my coaches Bachman and Hornby with them. The regular Marklin tension lock type sometimes come apart when the rake is going down hill. This type do not uncouple. You can buy as spare parts Electrotren couplings that are the same except the are the NEM pocket type instead of the triangular wedges. Good review. I like the DMUs, can't wait till you sound match it.

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  9 лет назад

      Rob McCrain Thanks Rob! She sure is! You Derby Lightweight sure is stunning too! What a good idea! Some came with my little European Tank Engines, but I change them for standard UK Tension locks, as they where fitted with NEM pockets too. I think DMU's are starting to grow a bit on me too! I have start trying out a few sound clips with her, but it is proving very hard to time, as most of the sounds I have got are arriving or departing shots. Derparting shots are the worse, as you have to make the model really crawl and the lights don't like that. Just need some more passing shot. Though I have loads for a 2-Car set up as you know ;)

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  9 лет назад

      Of course! Plus a number of different class mates and in a verity of liveries too. Some are at under £70 at the moment.

      Good because i might need to add to my dmu fleet because the 107 needs a bit of work. So ive only got the 105 in working action. i might have to get in quick if some are under £70 bargin. :)

    Just catching up on some of your videos that I missed , great review of this DMU which looks brill . I treated myself to a 101 2 car unit last Xmas with SWD sound fitted and it is still one of my favourites , I think they make a great addition to any layout .
    Cheers.......Peter.

    A great unit indeed mate! I do prefer the roof mounted headcodes though, as with my 2-car one. Hattons do some great prices from time to time, however it doesn't always pay off. I recently bought a Heljan Lion, for a relatively cheap price Brand New. The lighting leeks from under the bodyshell, the hand rails were bent on the ends and upon arrival, one of the bogies was in pieces. I hope the 700 doesn't turn up like that.
    Great video, and thanks for sharing.

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  9 лет назад +1

      TheSoutherner Thanks Matt! Me too, hopefully Bachmann will do a run of that version again in the near future, as all the units in my area are like that. I'm sure if you told them that it turned up like that they would give you a refund? I've heard they tend to be pretty good on that. I'm sure she won't, hopefully mine and yours will leave the factory in one piece ;)

    A very well put together review Callum. You know you are making my Wishlist ever bigger when you do these extradionary reviews.
    This class 108 DMU would be a perfect addition for my next layout for branchline work. Can it run with a 2 car configuration without the centre coach by any chance?
    Great work. Thanks for sharing!!!

      @SDJR7F88  9 лет назад

      Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed! LOL! I though I might! Yes, it can, as that's what I plan to do, as I have many sounds of these units in 2 car formation ;) But you can also get them as a two car set of the shelf.

    What a fantastic model and a great price. She looks great. I was actually looking at my old Hornby 108 this afternoon and wondering if i should try and fit a DCC chip in her. Don't know what to do now ....

      @SDJR7F88  9 лет назад

      Steve Lea Thanks Steve! It sure is! Totally up to you, at the price for this unit at the moment I would get one while you can. They are superb! Plus DCC so, easy to get a chip in without rewiring.

      PeakeyFortySix Thanks mate! They sure are indeed! I see why you have two! LOL! Me too if they work. Sadly most of sound clips are of the 3 car set arriving or depart which is very hard to time indeed, especially pulling away. Will have to see if I can get some more 3 car ones, just on line side.

    DMU s.Have just ordered a 2 bil 2 car set from Hornby ,they marked it down from £124 to £60 for 2 days ,no idea what its like!!!. Great review as always ,Andy h.

      Calvertfilm Thanks for the heads up Laurie. Might have to invest in one, but my camcorders will do for now. Make my room look a lot lighter ;) Glad you enjoyed the review! I believe they are the same that is applied to Eroupean stock, as they look pretty much the same as the ones fitted to 'Flash' and 'Chew Valley' (when I had her).

      I wasn't complaining by the way - sorry Callum if it sounded so lol.
      I am lucky in that my camera does exceptional low light. One thing it is good at. It is better than my eyes. Most cameras are not. So I believe you when you say it had lights :-)

    I also have a couple of these 108s which I purchased from hattons around 07 for a great price of around £50-60 2car network South East 1 power car and a none powed trailer car and also a 3 car set in BR Green with yellow ends . I've got to say they look far more realistic after fitting a number of fare dodging passengers. It takes away the ghost train affect !! .
    Ps they are a lot more expensive now.

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  Год назад +1

      They really are superb models. Indeed, well over triple what I paid for this one

      @brianfearn4246 Год назад

      @SDJR7F88 many thanks, those European couplings do couple up those vertical pins lift the loop over pins when pushed together,, also if it makes a noise when running even from new you remove the body and add a drop of oil to the front motor shaft visible behind the seats and you don't need to dismantle anything else. My 2 108s now run virtually silent...

    Didn't they also use BUT/AEC AHU Engine like what was used on AEC Reliance and Swift Buses and Coaches.

    • @SDJR7F88
      @SDJR7F88  6 лет назад

      Yes, I think they did. Quite a lot of early units used different bus engines. Guess it was what they had to hand or which company could give them a good deal on engines :)
