This makes my heart ache. If you get it, you get it, and it's quite difficult to articulate it beyond that. Leslie is transmitting something of immense depth that perhaps even he didn't consciously comprehend; an explosion of emotion, a distillation of the cultural moment of 1970, a violent explosion of expressive musical intensity. The electric guitar is lightening rod in this man's hands.

It's just pure passion and deadly vibrato plus the combination of that Les Paul Jr and that wall of killer Sunn amps that sets Leslie apart from all others

@@billyboy1093 No question about it. Mountain was a magnificent band. Felix had so many different music talents including his singing and Corky was an excellent drummer. Leslie West? An awesome tone guitarist. Just as good as Clapton, Hendrix or Paige. And Leslie had a sense of humor ..So I know he`d chuckle at my next comment. That girl sitting on the top of the solid barrier above the huge "Whopper" word at .49. Sittin` next to her boyfriend I think. Doesn`t she have her hand on his ..........Whopper?

No lie, my friend. I remember as a little boy hearing them and thinking about how awesome that guitar sound was. He could get such a crushing heavy tone. Those Sunny amps don't hurt either. U got a Sunn model T last year and had to do a ton of work on it but it's a beast now.

The main reason why you don't hear the name Leslie Weinstein (aka Leslie West) in circles or list of names for great guitarist was that Mountain ever had that massive charted hit - Mississippi Queen peaked at #21 (I think) - the album Climbing! peaked at #17. Their follow up album managed to peaked at #16, but it's single seemed to only reached into the top 90. It wasn't until 1973 with the Best Of Mountain that they pulled out another gold album (but half of the songs was from Climbing!).

Think about it, if you can make something like this that brings a feeling of wellness and peace to an old timer like me and thousands like me, you have not lived for nothing. 50 years form now someone will be listening to this song and get influenced by it. 50 years from now, people in my own family will be saying, "Dan who?" For all those who enjoyed this song and the band, I hope life treated you well and you found whatever you were looking for. I will always remember those lovely ladies who are still lovely today. Not all who wander are lost and it is better to seek your whole life and never find resolution, than to ride the main stream bus down the twisted road of complacency. Hail to the seekers, for they are the ones who find the distant shores. I am afraid we will never have a time like this again.

I remember watching this on tv when I was a kid.... Iggy and The Stooges did an awesome set also. RIP Leslie AND Felix, and Steve .... You think it might have been loud in front of those rigs?
