You are confused by the names of the dominant political parties of your country. Both concepts are not mutually exclusive.
Republic is a state in which supreme power is held by the people (also a democracy) and their elected representatives, and which has a President rather than a monarch.
The fact that you Americans vote either Democrat or Republican is just a matter of names. Those parties could be called righties and lefties, blues and reds, heads and tails, whatever.

I really wished Tulsi would've teamed up with Trump in 2020 on a 3rd party ticket. Could've lost still, but would've set up a takeover in 24 to finally break the "2 party" rule.
I like tulsi as a person but she does have a lot of values and stuff democrats have. She would be very different from what trumps believes that’s a good thing to a point but a ton of her position like on guns and abortion are completely opposite of what he thinks. Again I think think she would be a good vice but her and Trump would have to be on the same page for most issues doesn’t have to be all but more than they are right now. Hopefully she is a vice president in her lifetime but she’s not very liked in the democrat party because of her support for Trump more then any of the other ones.
