  • Any good SEO campaign should include content auditing and maintenance. This isn't just about getting rid of low click / zero click content - it's also about finding content by age.
In this video - we look at a way you can quickly pair up search console data against IMPORTXML data imports to combine article/blog post dates against clicks.
Written instructions (the video covers this more indepth)
    1. Go to search console
    2. Export LAST 16 Months of data for your domain into a Google Sheet
    3. Click on the PAGES Tab
    4. Select ALL columns, click DATA - Create A Filter
    5. Select the CLICKS column and select select FILTER BY CONDITION and select LESS THAN and enter 10
    6. Select the IMPRESSIONS column and select FILTER BY CONDITION and select LESS THAN and enter 100
    7. Now - take an ARTICLE / PRODUCT / COLLECTION / BLOG URL and open it in your web browser
    8. Find a date on the page, then HIT F12 to open Chrome DevTools - inpsect the DATE element and in dev tools, with the date element selected, right click and select COPY and select COPY FULL XPATH
    9. Go to your Google sheet pages tab - in column F enter the following script -
    =importXML(A2, "PASTE XPATH HERE")
Now, the FULL XPATH YOU COPIED, paste that where it says PASTE XPATH Here - make sure A2 is also updated to reflect the cell number that's the first cell below the header row (top pages, clicks etc) i.e. A150 - so you should have something that looks like this:
    =importXML(A6, "/html/body/div[1]/div/div/div[1]/article/div[1]/div/p/span")
Hit enter and wait for it to get the date content. Then drag down across all cells in the column F.
You should now see all of your URLS that are weak click/impression (combination) with respective dates against them.
You can then use the FILTER to segment URLS by age - this is great for binning off old content that's likely adding little to no value.
You can pair this data against other things such as using AHREFS batch analysis to bulk check 200 URLS at a time to see which URLS have external links - handy for redirecting anything where you decide to cull the page where external links exist.
    Enjoy.
If anyone would like a video / template on doing it let me know.

Hey Daniel - once I've identified these URLs, do I want to unpublish them or 301 them elsewhere? And if I unpublish, do I want to purposely created 404s for these?
