I always listened to this in 2013-2015 got me through a lot of days 🦋brings back so much memories time is going too fast ..Thank you for your beautiful music best coast!💗
@@JC-wg5xn I know I'm REALLY late and you both probably forgot about this song I do apologize but just wanted to let you know there is a version on spotify that's better IMO, "Sun was high (so was I) by Small Black". Just putting this here so people in the future can know too : )
I remember my cousin playing this song in the car when I was a teenager. At first I was confused because all I listened to was hip hop up until that point. Growing up in the hood, it wasn’t “cool” to listen to this type of music. And my cousin was a hipster so he didn’t give a fuck about what people thought lol. Anyway, when he was playing this song at first I was laughing at him (me being a immature teenager), but something clicked in my brain, I felt something in my soul from hearing this song. He had all the windows down, it was a summer night in the city, and he was blasting this song without a care in the world, singing it word for word. All eyes were on us, and he just didn’t care. It was that level of confidence right there that would go on to change not only my music taste, but my life. It taught me a valuable lesson in life, that lesson is to not give a fuck about what people think about you. To just be yourself! Be different! He doesn’t even know this story, and we barely talk now, but man I wish he knew! This song will forever be legendary to me!
This song makes me feel delightfully empty. Like walking alone down a street next to a beach watching the heat twist and melt inches off the hot concrete in front of me.
I love coming back here over the years to look at all the comments of all the people who have been positively affected by this song. When this song was released I was on my way out of high school and now I'm sending my daughter into school. Time flies but music like this bring you back to moments that are long gone
@starrycat1 thank you so much. I'm back again, enjoying the beauty of this song. We're doing great, she's a 2nd grader now and may love this song as much as I do ❤
I listened to this song in 2010 while on holidays on the beach in Gold Coast, Australia, in 39C heat while the stand storm was hitting my calves and this song felt exactly like this. A LoFi sand haze carried on the hot wind, on a sun drenched pale beach, turquoise ocean, bending palm trees while cars driving nearby melting asphalt pavement. I will love and cherish this track forever. Thank you Best Coast.
there's a Christmas song that's been playing at work that reminded me of this song ... I've been racking my brain all day to remember the title!! so glad I stumbled across this gem again. great music.
I know exactly how you feel, I play in a band that practises in a warehouse right near the exact scene you're describing. This song also reminds me of the day I left hawaii, and I was on the freeway suspended above the houses. I could see people's yards and fences and that was the last thing I really saw in Hawaii before flying back to Sydney.
I went for a walk watched the cars go by the sun was high I thought of you I went for a walk the wind was blowin' it sure was hot I thought of you I went for a walk watched the cars go by the sun was high and so was I I thought of you
riding in a car on a highway + roll the windows up + roll the weed up + smoke that weed + blast this song + roll the windows down then letting the wind hit your face = perfection.

i’ll never forget this “shitgaze” era. psychedelic horseshit, early wavves and best coast. even vivian girls although it was different. i miss that shit. it was so good.
hearing this song filled me with the most uncomfortable sensation of emptiness in the most beautiful way possible
same here, kinda like a lonely catharsis

Great story! This song is so simple, but it does have some kind of magical, hypnotical quality to it for sure!
come on man, you gotta tell him!! it's what this song is all about anyways!

Most underrated song I’ve ever heard so glad my mom introduced me to best coast.
Forever the summer vibe. All I need is the sun, a breeze, and a bowl
ice cold, filtered water in the bong on a perfect morning :')
This song reminds me of getting high and sailing to Catalina Island, back in 2009. One of my many adventures.
This song is a blessing in my life, coming back to this after 11 years
Best Coast because it makes me feel like I'm at the beach in the dead of winter. Paradise! :)

Best Coast blows my mind!
Brings me back to when I first got Sirius radio
one of their top masterpieces

Best Coast’s Album ‘Crazy For You’ is probably her best album.
Still listen to it often.
I went for a walk
watched the cars go by
the sun was high
I thought of you

the wind was blowin'

I know what you mean, but I don't mind it being all "crystalline", I think her voice is lovely and I like hearing it more often :-)
