Also, get a UPS battery backup to plug network/pc into if HC is your thing. Never go without it or this will happen at least 2 more times, and 10 more times in official. UPS battery backup will store power for like 30 minutes of use when the house goes dark.
AND A generator only starts AFTER power loss, so a generator + small battery backup is still ideal.
8:27 is the disconnect
Get a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) And a good one, as a content creator no reason not to have it. Have your PC / Stream PC and Internet Modem/Router all connected to it. Then in the case of that happening again, your power goes out, the UPS kicks in and you can safely logout, most UPS can run for an hour on battery backup.
The people who think a battery would save you from a county wide power loss are pretty dumb. Just because your router has power doesn't mean the local interconnect has power.

@@sirskorge everyone knows that it's dangerous to keep the backup generators for the cooling system of your home nuclear reactor in a basement. it could get flooded and then you're screwed and you end up with a basementukushima that might cause you to get disconnected and lose your warcraft gnome.

I am genuinely afraid of how disconnects will effect official servers. at any level it will ruin anyone's enthusiasm to play the game again.
That's how hardcore works in every game. It's a risk everyone takes.
@@itbeHootietrue but that doesnt mean its fun or a feature. Im dcing at least once every 50 hours online. Getting to 60 takes hundreds of hours on hc so i wont even play it and miss out on somethi g that otherwise wpuld be so much fun.

I think if you are in combat and get DC'd, your character should still be able to auto attack. I think you couldve killed that mob with just auto attacks. That way (maybe) you could log back in in time to save yourself instead of having the character just stand there and get smacked.
How is he supposed to know hes going to get dc'd to queue wand auto. He's doing a standard SP opener on the satyr and randomly dcs. Had it been a second or so later he would of been wanting. But since he's mid opener this is such a hindsight 20/20 comment.

@Tmoney67000 cmon man... Obviously nobody knows when they'll have a random power outage. But imagine this, the internet goes out for 30 seconds while you're in the middle of a flight path. You log back in and you see your character fell to its death when you DC'd. You'd probably be pissed because it would make more sense for the flight path to finish its course. I think being in combat should work in a similar way. It won't save everyone, but a simple auto attack( no crits, no actual abilities, no heals, etc.) makes sense while dying to a mob with 15% hp while you were at 90% because your character stands still during a crash or power blink does not.
Why remove crits
I work in a big company as a IT guy and we use those aswell in case power goes off. Of course in a bigger scale. But you should get that too since streaming is your job.
This will absolutely happen on official, I mean look at the first level 100 hardcore in diablo 4, if it can happen to him it will happen to anyone. I'm excited to get in on classic when everyone else will be playing but I don't know if I can handle a DC death

Universal power supplies are for preventing deaths in case of power outage. They give you enough time to get safe.
died 5x in hardcore never made it past 30, all deaths were dc's and soured me on the concept

DC's are what really prevents me from wanting to play HC
I like how PoE handles it: DC = immediate port to town.
Sure now minaxers can alt F4 to avoid some deaths if they're fast enough, but boy does that sound better to me than losing because of a DC

I lost my 54 warrior 3 weeks ago to a D/C in felwood and died to a 49 level solo mob.. I wasn't recording. I had so much time on my hands i picked up a 2nd job on the weekends. LOL

I mean, any death that is outside of your control should be appealable, but how many people will die to a DC like this, and have to restart all over.

@@jabroni808 With clips, the same as what we currently do...Or Blizzard need to implement a logout fix whereby if you do get DC'd, then your character should be immediately logged out to prevent a death.
But of course this is Blizzard we're talking about, the same people who got hyped for the HC servers that have virtually none of these features we currently have with the Addon, so they're obviously not going to implement anything. So we're back to square one.

Appeals literally ruin the authenticity of hardcore and are a cheap excuse for lesser players in other death scenarios. There is 0 fairness in appeals, obviously your dent brain will freak out and go "BuT HoW iS a Dc DeAtH FaiR?!?!?!". Man it's fair because every single player on earth has to deal with it, every single player on earth is at an equal footing, there is no bias, no hierarchy, just raw fairness for everybody involved. DC die, go next. Grief die, go next.

Getting griefed or anything else is fine but getting disconnected and die like that , simply sucks.

I think it's funny that chat was whining about how disconnects will kill hardcore when old school RuneScape players have been dying to disconnects for years and people still play hardcore.

@@joshholmes1372 Ehh, the idea has been pitched and voted for, but i dont think the auto teleport has been implemented yet? The only current options that i am aware of, is equipping items in your ring slot, which would mean you lose one item with stats while playing. Alot of people are dying to disconnects in hardcore OSRS.

The service difference is b/c in Europe they're getting paid regardless of tips. In America they live on tips so the pressure to provide "excellent service"

@@SamMaki When I disconnect in Diablo 2 hardcore my character just disappears from the game pretty quickly (I'll still die if I was in the middle of a pack in Chaos but w/e). In WoW, your toon stays there for a *very long time* it's not even comparable how brutal it is compared to D2.
This is why i dont do hardcore in online games. Its so demotivating.
Indeed in most of europe the staff will leave you alone, and be helpful when you ask for help/order.
Except in Germany, where they will act like you ruined their day by stepping in the shop/store, and you'll be lucky if they get your order right.
This is why “renewable” solar/wind energy can’t work - it’s unreliable. The grid was designed to work 24/7/365, not just for days the weather works out. And of course the solution is a diesel generator haha.
Note you’ll need a hotspot - if power is cut to your neighborhood, you will likely lose your network connection as well even if your power is on.
uh no, most of the grids are connected and so there is wind/solar somewhere across the continent supplying power. Texas with their hate of renewables has the worst system with the most downtime lmao.......and when it does go down, they gouge their customers with exhorbitant prices for the limited supply that works. People there were getting bills for 10k+
Lol i live in florida so we have hurricane season. Power flickers/outages happen often. I have 3 kids and if the wifi goes out they crawl out of their holes. I have an UPS on my tv, pc, and wifi router. I dont know any of my friends that dont have an UPS on their PC.

That's why D3 HC works but WoW will not. If you die in D3 HC you can level up to 70 within seconds and you have a accountwide bank and can equip BiS gear straight away again to blast further. That's not possible in WoW. I'll 100% not play WoW HC at all. I already don't have much spare time to play games and then I wouldn't want to waste my time with a character which I'd lose. That only works for streamer because they earn money from it and for people with a lot of time for WoW.

How about the following: If you disconnect/logoff while you have less than 10% hp left and the mob you are fighting is within 5 levels of you, and has at least 50% hp; you do NOT get a redo. Since this is clearly you about to die.
But if you are fighting something like Xaryu was in this video, with near full hp, and mana; with the mob dying quickly - you get a redo.
(Could also do a flat out %hp comparison. If you have 51% and the mob has 50% you don't die. - but you drop down to 1% when you relog.)
Can also add additional conditionals such as: When you are fighting 2 characters or more, the moment you drop below 80% hp without either of the mobs about to die (

I know his guildies said it, but this is 100% true. Official hardcore not having an appeal process will surely kill it. Your power goes out or a random DC gets you killed, can literally die any point playing the game and its not your fault is pretty lame. I don't see official lasting too long with that in play.

you would think blizzard could somehow manage to check if the client was connected or not during combat.
And if the answer is no, and the character dies, would it be possible to port the player to their hearth instead? like an unstuck?
but like there has to be a way that blizzard can detect if a player is disconnected and maybe it can save those players, even if it just acknowledges the dc and when you log back in it automatically resurrects you in the city.
like it has to be automated though, and you as a player, have to be dc'd for at least a couple seconds to trigger it (to avoid abuse)

There is no way to make a distinction between a real disconnect and a "fake" one. If I pull my ethernet or unplug my router, I will disconnect. How could Blizzard tell whetever it's legitimate? Streamers aside, for "normal" players, it's just impossible.
Doesnt matter if they can check for dc. People would abuse the ability to yank power from their modem in a sticky situation "But I lost power and d/c mid fight, no fair!!" If the disconnect is legit tho, and they know its because of server issue, maybe they reverse it, but its already been said, no appeals. Be willing to lose your character in bullshit ways, or dont play, simple.

a DC is a DC. Unless it's the problem on server side, in which case they'd just do a roll back, it's best they do nothing. That's the nature of online gaming.
No matter if you add this second thing, people can DC very early if it just seems slightly sketchy, to be extra safe.... and it will be abused no matter what....

I thought an UPS is a must if you have a PC. I have a dedicated UPS for both PC and router.
I am not suggesting this as a fix for everyone, but if you can afford it get a battery backup for your computer and network equipment. It would give you time to finish the fight and log off.

What are you even talking about? Mages have sheep combos, Sheep rof, sheep gpye. Now frost has insane combos as well with spike that does massive 1shots. And all this while you are spamming classic wow which only combo is spamming melee/wand and ur main filler
Of all the things that will make official not last very long I would put that lower lol, sure it's annoying as hell but its all part of it. What will kill official fast is the fact they are allowing people to play it on full easy mode. why even bother at that point. I already forgot about HC for the past month or two until now. People gonna realise so quickly how empty and hollow of an achievment it is to play HC wow on official servers.

I managed to get a mage to 60 hardcore, but on other toons I died once to a grief and 3 times to DC. Hardcore is a great idea, but DC is the one fatal flaw.

Osrs recently added a tp crystal for hc for this very purpose
@@Khagrim When I played PoE hc 3-4 years ago everybody used a TCP disconnect macro. The game was supposed to disconnect you too but it was very unreliable. The macro was not super reliable either, most of the time it would be smarter to move your character away rather than macro out if it was an option. PoE is a hundred times more fast-paced than WoW though, 100-200 ms disconnect on stand-by would be very easily abuseable in WoW.

What do you mean? Everyone votes to resurrect any recently dead player? Everyone votes for/against if Blizz GMs will have an appeal process? I would worry players would vote for/against players based on other factors other than "was it an unfair, unavoidable death by bug or DC" and maybe more like "I like Payo, ppc" or "I hate payo, gtfo"

My thought is that you have to be aware of your surrounding both in game and out for time to play or be ready for anything, but auto attack would be nice to have when dc happens.
