Just finished watching your video, I then immediately started the deep clean of my TL. For 6 years now, I have known there were screws on the bottom of the machine, but I have always been afraid to remove them (this was an expensive sewing machine). When I did take the bottom off, the buildup of lint and oil, I couldn't believe how this machine was even running, it was beyond filthy! I kept all the screws in order like you showed, micro vacuumed and wiped all the springs, gears and moving parts, I put everything back together, oiled and rethreaded, said a little prayer that it would work, then did some sewing, I swear my TL was humming to me, "Thank you, thank you for cleaning me, I feel sooo much better!" I really liked my TL before, but now, I have a greater appreciation for the quality of this product, and from here on out, I will take much better care of her. Oh! I'm also going to order some of those mascara wands, what a GREAT idea!
I've had my Juki TL-2010 for about 5 years and I absolutely love it. I'm a quilter and I'm retired, so I use it almost every day. I also have a Juki HZL-DX7 computerized machine, which is a very nice machine with a lot of features, but honestly I use my TL a lot more. It's easy to maintain and is sturdy as a tank. I love your tip about the mascara wands - what a great idea, so I've just ordered some. I live in the Southwest, where it's very dusty, so I always cover my machines when I'm not using them.
That's good to know about the HZL-DX7. I have 2 Jukis and I'm always tempted to get another:) I do love the ones I have, though. I have also had a Brother embroidery machine for many years, but it is collecting dust in my closet. My Jukis are what I use everyday. I'm in the southwest, too. I need to do better about keeping my machine covered -- yes, dust is ever present!
As soon as you showed those wands I stopped the video and went immediately to order some. I have this machine but just recently really started using it. Thanks for the great tips - now I'm going to hop over to your channel to see what I can expect to see if I subscribe!
Great idea using a mascara wand! I never realized I could take the bottom off of my juki! I have had it for about a year and must have missed that option somehow! Thank you!
I'm so glad you discovered the option to take the bottom off the machine. It's on the list of my favorite things about the machine -- they make the maintenance so easy!
Thanks for the tips for cleaning the Juki. I have owned one now for a couple of years. LOVE IT. Where did you get the oil. I have the bottle that came with my machine but like the long metal tip that you were using. Thanks
I found the oil here: www.amazon.com/Liberty-Oil-Synthetic-Lubricating-Machines/dp/B008QNQ2VE/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=1DIKIU6HUC0ZD&keywords=sewing+machine+oil&qid=1650297597&sprefix=sewing+machine+oil%2Caps%2C136&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExVEMyWldYREdWNk1NJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUExMDE2OTcyMTM4UVNVTUE3MkZTMCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzYyNDM0MVlISUw0OVdaWkwxWCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Question for you! I recently got a juki machine and am cleaning it out for the first time today. I noticed a little piece inderneath the throat plate that kind of looks like tiny bristles - almost like a little toothbrush head but with finer bristles - do you recognize this? I pulled it out thinking it was lint but then I realized it’s definitely not lint…and I can kind of see the little spot where I think it may have been glued onto. This is near the bobbin case where the bobbin thread comes out.
Hi Gayle, I do remove the bobbin case and clean it when it gets lint in it. I don't oil there, though. Only in the holes shown in the video. I just put one drop of oil in each hole and so far I haven't had any oil or grease in my sewing projects.
@@bayhillstudio The 'finger' (officially the HOOK) inside bobbin area needs to be oiled, too. On page 29 of the manual, there are 7 arrows that indicate points that should be oiled: you showed the 4 on top & the 2 on the bed. The 7th is the hook in bobbin area.
I am so thankful for your video. I have had my juki 2000qi for over a year now and took the back off and there was alot of goop. I didn't really clean it off because I wasn't sure if it was supposed to keep it lubricated. I did have quite a bit of oil on the long plate cover I removed to get in there. Do you think I am over oiling it? Is the inside of your machine nice and shiny or you have lubrication goop everywhere? Thank you so so much for any advice!!!
You don't need a lot of oil. I probably add one little drop of oil into each of the holes once a month or so. You don't want too much, but at the same time, it's natural for lint and oil to goop up in a machine, so I wouldn't worry about it - as long as you clean and oil it regularly it should work great for you.
Great tips. Thank you. In the Juki manual it shows a seventh area to oil and it says inside of the hook. There's a photo in the manual but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions?
Great question - I completely missed that spot. The problem is that the manual is so unclear on it, it's hard to know exactly where to put that oil. I think after you pull out the bobbin casing and manually turn the needle, you can see the "hook" appear just outside of where the bobbin casing goes. That doesn't explain where to put the oil, though. I am guessing just right on the inside side of the hook?
Thanks for these wonderful tips, saving up for this machine which besides an industrial is my dream machine, I'm on social security so it's going to take some time, Where can I get that tip for the little bottle of oil and the oil bottle itself? I appreciate you. 🤗
I hope you love your Juki as much as I do. I appreciate your video. In the past when I've removed screws I take a small amount of painters tape and tape it near the hole as to avoid any confusion to where it goes. I have a cat 🐈, that won't hesitate to knock them to the ground.
I love the mascara wand as a cleaning lint grabber. Thanks.
I've been trying to find something to grab all the lint from the nooks and crannies. Great tip, thank you for posting!
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for this great and detailed video.
Glad it was helpful!

Same here. Dusty Australia. Now retired. Have had my 2010q for 5 years. Best machine I have ever bought. Enjoy sewing!

Great tips. Thanks.
I have a Juki TL-18QVP and have to remove the screws from the bottom feet off to remove the bottom piece to clean.
Excellent. My Juki says thank you too.
Great tips! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you for the recommendation regarding the mascara brushes. I am always looking for a better way to clean out my machines. This is a GREAT tip !!!

Yes, I think that is part of the machine. Double check with your user manual, but most machines do have the bristle piece you are describing.
You don't remove the bobbin case and clean and oil in there? Do you ever get oil or grease on a sewing project? I do occasionally. Too much oil?

My manual says to take out the bobbin case and oil the inside of the hook. Do you do that on your machine?
Yes, I completely missed that spot in the video. But it also does need to be oiled.
@@bayhillstudio thank you! It’s not that easy to see where to oil there. Do you have a photo of where to oil the inside?
Do you put oil in the bobbin area?
A single drop on the ledge in the bobbin area.
Juki Junkies has an excellent video on oiling the bobbin case
What is the oil dispenser that you use? Thankyou

where do you put the oil on the bobbin part? the instruction/picture not great ?
Yes, the instructions are terrible. There's a little pointy hook part on the edge of the bobbin casing. I put the oil there.
Juki wat model is tis pls ?
This one is a 2010Q. I also own a 2000Q. Both would be cleaned the same way.
Why wouldn’t you just use a vacuum that’s designed for cleaning out computers?
You definitely could do that of you own one!
@@bayhillstudio I did buy one for my overlocker and also use it on my singer quantum stylus so I thought why couldn’t I use it for the Juki
