Bael's twin swords are the same design as Grimgerde's, I wonder if its standard calamity war design, or if McGillis took the swords from one unit and used it on another.

technically the Kimaris Vidar is piloted by "two" people that is Gaelio and poor Ein's brain implanted into the Gundam Frame itself so what McGillis did to fight it still counts an amazing feat.
Not only that but he’s fighting Ein system which is on par if not better than Mikazuki, and Kimaris Vidar suit is upgraded to the max and McGillis didn’t update at all

All things considered McGillis was a skilled pilot Gaelio could never compare to but Eins raw determination even in death sealed the battle. Funny enough according to official material had Bael defeated Kimaris, which was really close, that wouldve been the end of Rustal, eith no one being able to keep up with the unit. Rustal's ultimate bet was to use most of his resources against Tekkadan, more in specific Mika, who Rustal feared as the closest to a Calamity pilot in the present.

Mikazuki's augmentations are still "bootleg" at best and while sure his 3x augmentations can surpass other AV implant users who only went like once or even non-AV users, he's still not at the level of OG AV users (which we can't base off of anyone except maybe the pilot of Marchocias whose resurgence in the future gave a MA literal PTSD and shit its pants but it's from that IBO video game). (Gaelio isn't included cuz technically his AV system is hooked to a sacrificial lamb aka Ein's brain so even if it's not as "powerful" as the original Gaelio does not face ANY side effects from the neural load) It's implied that McGillis tried to hit the closest design possible by studying the system as well as using Ein as a Guinea Pig before he gets the surgery. But I doubt McGillis actually pushed it like how Mika did so his performance is worse than Mika

I think at the end Bael was dealt a poor matchup. Getting smashed into the ship hull probably crippled his massive thrusters seemingly key to Bael's hit & run style.
Its more like, Kimaris Vidar had more weapons and a better upgraded system while the Bael didn't obtain ANY significant upgrades, or had any additional weapons than the two swords. But due to McGillis being a doofus, proves that he couldn't do much since Gaelio chose to make enhancements.
@@Koryu87 and baels loadout wasnt build to battle mobile suits Baels style is an David with goliaths strenght But the weapons are not that suited for equal sized enemies like mobile suits Mobile armors are twice the size than an Gundam So Quick and fast does the Job very well on such enemies But the mobile suits were to agile ans/or tanky (kimaris vidars shields for example) The same reason on why mika abandoned his sword when fighting hasmal. Its purpose was to use the concussive damage to harm the pilot. Which wasnt that effective on Hasmal. ItWas faster then Him with it and the damage he dealt with it wasnt enough. Well it had mind control in the sense that the myth of Bael was used to seize control of the military and overthrow the government. The myth was just shattered when Bael wasnt this perfect unbeatable thing.
It’s kinda bullshit that Kimaris Vidar was able to overpower Bael at the end there after the damage it had sustained. It had parts of its internals ripped out, lost an arm, and had been stabbed in multiple places including the chest area, but was still able to operate at full power, and managed to overpower Bael, which had barely taken any damage up until that point. But it’s also kinda dumb that McGillis’s whole plan was basically “I can pilot Bael, therefore everyone listens to me now.”
Well, Half broken Barbatos Lupus soloed Mobile Armor with Reincar Sword... Gaelio also not the one in control of Kimaris Vidar it Eins Brain that already lost all senses of pain whatsoever and were forced to processed all data to use whatever he can for combat...
@@frostmistgaming Barbatos Lupus only becomes “half broken” towards the end of the fight. Most of the damage it sustained during the fight was external, isolated to the right arm. It also goes silent after suffering internal damage from an attack that penetrated the upper right side of the cockpit. With Kimaris Vidar, we see Bael rip out parts of its internals and stab it multiple times in multiple places. Regardless of who’s controlling the mobile suit, the performance should be linked to the condition of the mobile suit. For all of that damage to mean nothing against a mobile suit that barely suffered any damage at all is just stupid. It would’ve been different if the fight had been more even until that point, but the way they handled this fight felt more like the writers wrote themselves into a corner and needed to wrap up the story.

Those things were designed to be operational until the pilots literally die, that what Alaya-Vijnana System really is.... Kimaris Vidar Type E system also used the same feature, it was a weapon for humanity against extinction so it will die when the pilots dies and will continue to operate as long as thermal signals and brain waves still functional even though the pilots already unconscious and the mobile suits itself already turned into scraps metal... That why Gjallarhorn ban the system after Calamity War ended...
@@frostmistgaming Of course I didn't, and the Gundam Frames do have their functional limits. The pilot dying is not the only way they can stop working. If you go back and actually watch that scene, Gusion Rebake is the one that suffers severe internal damage with a Dainsleif to the chest, and barely holds itself together. Akihiro only musters enough strength to push that machine to kill Iok Kujan. As for Barbatos Lupus Rex, it literally starts to break down towards the end with how hard Mika pushes the machine after the damage it had sustained. Only two of the Grazes that he kills actually move (one of them just moves in a straight line), the other ones just stand completely still. Mika isn't able to do anything to the Reginlaze Julia even before Barbatos's systems start failing and Mika starts to succumb to his wounds and the strain of the unrestrained Alaya-Vijnana. Once BLR's systems were compromised, Mika could only charge straight at the Reginlaze Julia, where it was easily finished. If we were to take another example that makes the functionality of the Gundam frames inconsistent, lets not forget that Barbatos Lupus stopped working shortly after landing too hard at the start of the second season.
Well he was leveraging the mythos of Bael to snatch military control and overthrow the government. Part of that mythos was the supremacy of Bael. Its possible that the coup may have failed due to lack of support if he did anything else, really.
Bael is terrifying. Awakened after 300 years it has been able to go toe to toe with a newly refurbished/updated Kimaris Vidar. Big mistake of McGillis not destroying Gaelio while he's being held by Isurugi. Its scary too that we didn't yet saw Bael with red eyes/berserker state, imagine how it would be. At its current/base state it nearly destroyed Rustal's Arianrhod Fleet only being saved by Gaelio. I know some said that Bael at that state is already operating at full strength but I doubt it. We saw Gundam Marchosias unleashing its berserker mode when facing the Mobile Armors so Bael is definitely not at full strength under McGillis.
Call it stupid all you want, he basically seized control of a significant portion of the military. Thats no small feat. If he defeated Gaelio, that would have been it. Not because Gaelio was the only obstacle, but because the myth of Bael would have been proven against the mightiest that the modern age could bear against it. The rest of the military would fall in line and he'd succeed at the coup.
The legendary mobile-suit that carries the soul of Agnika Kaieru, the founder of Gjallarhorn, Gundam Bael. So it seems that this has been Mcgillis' true goal all along. And here I thought he would use its might to crush the delinquent members of Tekkadan. Boy, was I ever wrong about that.

You'd think McGills got the brains of Char Aznable or something. But in S2, omce he got Bael he thought he was invincible. He threw away every caution he had from S1 & go out in the public for...what, rushing Rustal's forces which were several times larger than his? Not to mention McGillis knew Rustal would use any illegal means like Dainsleif if need be. But he still chose to charge at Rustal anyway. S1 McGillis would've found a way to make sure Rustal has no cards to play before charging at him.
The strongest IBO Gundam frame (confirmed by author) wasted on a power hunger and idiotic child like McGillis. If only he secretly give maintenance and upgrades to Bael, he would have been able to outpower Gaileo + Ein power of friendship combo in their Kimaris Vidar. @@frostmistgaming The whole operation being conducted at the city by Gjallarhorn was to interfere with the election of Arbraus' Prime Minister in order for Iznario Fareed to install his puppet to take control of Arbrau for himself for his own secret reasons, while Gaelio had a personal reason for wanting to fight at Edmonton due to the death of Carta Issue by Tekkadan just weeks earlier, and that before he had been part of a taskforce to try and stop Kudelia Aina Bernstein from reaching Earth to try and vouch for Martian Independence and had been in-contact with the Prime Minister of Arbrau before the current Election period to sanction this that Gjallarhorn was not wanting to go through. McGillis Fareed wouldn't have any possible alibi to justify *_why_* he was at Edmonton in the first place or why he wasn't participating in the battle against Tekkadan while there in an official capacity. It would have brought him under scrutiny and suspicion by the other Seven Stars had he personally returned to Vingolf with the Kimaris in-tow. Especially when he was the last person to have talked with Carta Issue before she had departed from Vingolf to chase after Tekkadan in Canada.
Imagine if McGillis activated the "Berserker Mode" like the Barbatos. I swear he would have won this last fight. He was much more skilled than Gaellio who just had a sh*t ton of equipement, weapon, and was AI assisted by Ein.
Iirc, the version of the surgery McGillis got was upgraded and improved from the faulty version in the rest of the show. It was more akin to the original from the distant past, and didnt have the pesky problems that required a limiter to protect oneself from.
I feel like McGillis was a great pilot even tho plot screwed him over. If only they didn't do his character so dirty but that's not the problem. I feel like it's a problem and a shame how neither the series or the mobile game ever showed how badass Agnika Kaieru was. If Bael was unit 01 then he is most likely the weakest unit out of the gundam frames due to production date yet the man who piloted him became a legend. I don't understand why we never even saw a glimpse of his strength. It would've made the series 100% better if even 10 seconds to dedicated to showing us Bael fighting a mobile armor. Just even once.

I just noticed, In the ending when Bael was being put back into storage, it's missing the central chest armor. I guess they could reattach the wing but not save the chest armor with Kimaris's drill stuck in it

McGillis got done hella dirty in SS2. Suddenly he became a dumbass with zero caution, completely opposite to his character in SS1. Then he got bested by the bullshit power of friendship with a half broken Kimaris while his Bael was still mostly intact.
To this day, I don't know why McGillis would just yeet a perfectly good sword into space. At least throw it at Rustal's ship lol. I'd chalk it up to arrogance that he could win with one sword and he could've until the AV magic kicked in for Gaelio
Gundam Bael might have been an extremely powerful Gundam Frame in its own right but it really does not have anything inherently special about it. All Gundam Frames are literally the same regarding the frames themselves. It quite literally is ASW - G- 01, meaning it was the first one developed and really never had any special tech or unique traits amongst the Gundam Frames, in fact you could argue that Kimaris and all the other frames after Bael were more advanced machines. Bael true strength during the Calamity War lie in the incredible piloting skills of Agnika Kaeiru, that was even the whole legend of Bael where Agnika was such a godlike pilot that he didn't need anything else other than 2 swords. Mcgillis is nowhere the level of Agnika who would have probably made Mikazuki look like an amaetuer, and just like Mikazuki it is heavily implied that Agnika was quite literally killing himself by overloading the Alaya Vijana like Mikazuki was doing, and that he died at the end of the war as the result. After the Calamity War, Bael's greatest power came in its status as a symbol of Gjallahorn and its leader. Bael essentially became Gjalllorhorn's Excalibur where the organisation came to believe who ever activated Bael 'pulled the sword from the stone' and deserve to be king of Gjallorhorn. However, it was always merely a religious legend and dogma in Gjallorhorn, in actuality in the Bael character info sheet, its heavily implied that Agnika was only ever Gjallorhorn's best pilot and leader in figurehead only, most of the management was left to the Seven Stars as Agnika probably was probably paralzyed or disabled from overloading the Alaya Vinjana.
Dumbest plan ever Bael was wasted on such an idiot plan. Seriously, what did McGillis expect? That everyone would just submit to mecha Jesus because he’s the one and only who can pilot Bael?
It probably wouldve worked, had he defeated Gaelio at the end. Military command would be unlikely to turn, but the actual soldiers would have. Gaelio was the big opportunity to prove the legend of Bael and the right to rule.
S2 could’ve been better, sadly the pacing died when everything was somewhat repeated and just felt rushed. They should’ve extended it to a 3rd season. I really felt S2 was super rushed, hence the storytelling felt like shit compared to S1.
What infuriates me is that McGillis had much MUCH more raw skill than Gaelio, and he had at least 2 opportunities to kill Gaelio, one in Grimgerde, one in Bael as shown in the vid. McGillis was a great pilot given he had the least AV buff, but boy does he suck at making sure Gaelio is dead. Heck, he pretty much trashed Kimaris Vidar with minimal damage on his part and then left it instead of double tapping it ffs. It was only "close" because of plot and plot is gonna plot I guess. 😅

Honestly, my favorite part about IBO is the gundam fight scenes. No beam rifles, no beam sabers. Just metal on metal bashing on each other
And when you hear the sound of the metal bashing each other, you feel like you are on the moment.
This is the biggest reason I love IBO over most other series. The idea of returning to gladiatorial combat in giant robots was genius.

後の作品である水星の魔女に後半の出番は少ないけどガンダムシュバルゼッテは武装に恵まれていた拡散ビームに大剣モードから物理まで遠距離も近接も死角なし兵器満載ぐらいが丁度いい水星の魔女の大河内脚本のシナリオの改悪と不遇無能パイロットでなければシュバルゼッテは活躍がもっとできた少し惜しい機体そういう意味ではバエルとシュバルゼッテは共通点が少し似ているどちらも脚本に恵まれない😥

I think at the end Bael was dealt a poor matchup. Getting smashed into the ship hull probably crippled his massive thrusters seemingly key to Bael's hit & run style.
Its more like, Kimaris Vidar had more weapons and a better upgraded system while the Bael didn't obtain ANY significant upgrades, or had any additional weapons than the two swords. But due to McGillis being a doofus, proves that he couldn't do much since Gaelio chose to make enhancements.

But the weapons are not that suited for equal sized enemies like mobile suits
Mobile armors are twice the size than an Gundam
So Quick and fast does the Job very well on such enemies
But the mobile suits were to agile ans/or tanky (kimaris vidars shields for example)
The same reason on why mika abandoned his sword when fighting hasmal. Its purpose was to use the concussive damage to harm the pilot. Which wasnt that effective on Hasmal. ItWas faster then Him with it and the damage he dealt with it wasnt enough.
So he adopted an simmlar style of what bael basically does
Fast and precise Hits on enemy joints or ripping of the enemy armor to Expose weaknesses
In the end he got impatient and Mika just Bulldozed the hashmal with raw strengt and no care for his safty
If gaelio wouldnt had been so stubborn and used the gundam FRAME like mika die and Adapter to his surroundings he could had made an much better fight

It’s kinda bullshit that Kimaris Vidar was able to overpower Bael at the end there after the damage it had sustained. It had parts of its internals ripped out, lost an arm, and had been stabbed in multiple places including the chest area, but was still able to operate at full power, and managed to overpower Bael, which had barely taken any damage up until that point. But it’s also kinda dumb that McGillis’s whole plan was basically “I can pilot Bael, therefore everyone listens to me now.”
Well, Half broken Barbatos Lupus soloed Mobile Armor with Reincar Sword... Gaelio also not the one in control of Kimaris Vidar it Eins Brain that already lost all senses of pain whatsoever and were forced to processed all data to use whatever he can for combat...
@@frostmistgaming Barbatos Lupus only becomes “half broken” towards the end of the fight. Most of the damage it sustained during the fight was external, isolated to the right arm. It also goes silent after suffering internal damage from an attack that penetrated the upper right side of the cockpit. With Kimaris Vidar, we see Bael rip out parts of its internals and stab it multiple times in multiple places. Regardless of who’s controlling the mobile suit, the performance should be linked to the condition of the mobile suit. For all of that damage to mean nothing against a mobile suit that barely suffered any damage at all is just stupid. It would’ve been different if the fight had been more even until that point, but the way they handled this fight felt more like the writers wrote themselves into a corner and needed to wrap up the story.

Those things were designed to be operational until the pilots literally die, that what Alaya-Vijnana System really is.... Kimaris Vidar Type E system also used the same feature, it was a weapon for humanity against extinction so it will die when the pilots dies and will continue to operate as long as thermal signals and brain waves still functional even though the pilots already unconscious and the mobile suits itself already turned into scraps metal... That why Gjallarhorn ban the system after Calamity War ended...
@@frostmistgaming Of course I didn't, and the Gundam Frames do have their functional limits. The pilot dying is not the only way they can stop working. If you go back and actually watch that scene, Gusion Rebake is the one that suffers severe internal damage with a Dainsleif to the chest, and barely holds itself together. Akihiro only musters enough strength to push that machine to kill Iok Kujan.
As for Barbatos Lupus Rex, it literally starts to break down towards the end with how hard Mika pushes the machine after the damage it had sustained. Only two of the Grazes that he kills actually move (one of them just moves in a straight line), the other ones just stand completely still. Mika isn't able to do anything to the Reginlaze Julia even before Barbatos's systems start failing and Mika starts to succumb to his wounds and the strain of the unrestrained Alaya-Vijnana. Once BLR's systems were compromised, Mika could only charge straight at the Reginlaze Julia, where it was easily finished.
If we were to take another example that makes the functionality of the Gundam frames inconsistent, lets not forget that Barbatos Lupus stopped working shortly after landing too hard at the start of the second season.
Well he was leveraging the mythos of Bael to snatch military control and overthrow the government. Part of that mythos was the supremacy of Bael. Its possible that the coup may have failed due to lack of support if he did anything else, really.

The only time that most Gundam frames were together are
Barbatos, Vidar (Kimaris) and Bael
Barbatos, Gusion, and Flauros
Maybe in the past of Calamity War.
All of the Gundam Frames are all together waiting for King Bael and Agnika Kaireu for command

Bael is terrifying. Awakened after 300 years it has been able to go toe to toe with a newly refurbished/updated Kimaris Vidar. Big mistake of McGillis not destroying Gaelio while he's being held by Isurugi.
Its scary too that we didn't yet saw Bael with red eyes/berserker state, imagine how it would be. At its current/base state it nearly destroyed Rustal's Arianrhod Fleet only being saved by Gaelio.
I know some said that Bael at that state is already operating at full strength but I doubt it. We saw Gundam Marchosias unleashing its berserker mode when facing the Mobile Armors so Bael is definitely not at full strength under McGillis.
The whole plan was stupid, to be honest.
Thinking that he gets control of Gjallarhorn just because he can activate Bael.

But in S2, omce he got Bael he thought he was invincible. He threw away every caution he had from S1 & go out in the public for...what, rushing Rustal's forces which were several times larger than his? Not to mention McGillis knew Rustal would use any illegal means like Dainsleif if need be. But he still chose to charge at Rustal anyway. S1 McGillis would've found a way to make sure Rustal has no cards to play before charging at him.

McGillis Fareed wouldn't have any possible alibi to justify *_why_* he was at Edmonton in the first place or why he wasn't participating in the battle against Tekkadan while there in an official capacity. It would have brought him under scrutiny and suspicion by the other Seven Stars had he personally returned to Vingolf with the Kimaris in-tow. Especially when he was the last person to have talked with Carta Issue before she had departed from Vingolf to chase after Tekkadan in Canada.
Imagine if McGillis activated the "Berserker Mode" like the Barbatos. I swear he would have won this last fight. He was much more skilled than Gaellio who just had a sh*t ton of equipement, weapon, and was AI assisted by Ein.

Iirc, the version of the surgery McGillis got was upgraded and improved from the faulty version in the rest of the show. It was more akin to the original from the distant past, and didnt have the pesky problems that required a limiter to protect oneself from.

I feel like McGillis was a great pilot even tho plot screwed him over. If only they didn't do his character so dirty but that's not the problem. I feel like it's a problem and a shame how neither the series or the mobile game ever showed how badass Agnika Kaieru was. If Bael was unit 01 then he is most likely the weakest unit out of the gundam frames due to production date yet the man who piloted him became a legend. I don't understand why we never even saw a glimpse of his strength. It would've made the series 100% better if even 10 seconds to dedicated to showing us Bael fighting a mobile armor. Just even once.
How I wish Bael had won the fight against Kimaris, but Mcgillis The problem is that he shouldn't be arrogant just because he activated Bael doesn't mean that he was the leader of the entire army.
I just noticed, In the ending when Bael was being put back into storage, it's missing the central chest armor. I guess they could reattach the wing but not save the chest armor with Kimaris's drill stuck in it

Gundam Bael might have been an extremely powerful Gundam Frame in its own right but it really does not have anything inherently special about it. All Gundam Frames are literally the same regarding the frames themselves. It quite literally is ASW - G- 01, meaning it was the first one developed and really never had any special tech or unique traits amongst the Gundam Frames, in fact you could argue that Kimaris and all the other frames after Bael were more advanced machines. Bael true strength during the Calamity War lie in the incredible piloting skills of Agnika Kaeiru, that was even the whole legend of Bael where Agnika was such a godlike pilot that he didn't need anything else other than 2 swords. Mcgillis is nowhere the level of Agnika who would have probably made Mikazuki look like an amaetuer, and just like Mikazuki it is heavily implied that Agnika was quite literally killing himself by overloading the Alaya Vijana like Mikazuki was doing, and that he died at the end of the war as the result.
After the Calamity War, Bael's greatest power came in its status as a symbol of Gjallahorn and its leader. Bael essentially became Gjalllorhorn's Excalibur where the organisation came to believe who ever activated Bael 'pulled the sword from the stone' and deserve to be king of Gjallorhorn. However, it was always merely a religious legend and dogma in Gjallorhorn, in actuality in the Bael character info sheet, its heavily implied that Agnika was only ever Gjallorhorn's best pilot and leader in figurehead only, most of the management was left to the Seven Stars as Agnika probably was probably paralzyed or disabled from overloading the Alaya Vinjana.

そうなるとバエル以外に使えるのはファリド家所有のガンダムムルムルになるけど、いかにも使いづらそうなムルムルよりもシンプルで安定しているバエルに乗るのは当然かと

モビルスーツってゴテゴテと装備足したから強くなれるってわけじゃないのよ
それにバエルは錦の御旗としての効果もあったし無理にいじくりすぎるとその効果が薄れやすいし
1番の問題としてはモビルスーツの機体の改修ってそうポンポン出来るもんじゃないってことだな
機体を改造して進化させるってのには当然設計から運用の方法をパイロットと相談しなきゃならないし
バエルとしての性能や効果を殺さずに強化ってなると改修部分が限られるし、バエル奪取から革命戦までそう時間もかけられないし
そもそもの話として指揮官であるマクギリス自身の出撃自体がもう戦況的に負け寸前くらいのもんだから、バエルを強くして戦おうってのが根本から破綻してる
で、最後に単騎で戦仕掛けたのはもうマクギリス自身のライブ感でやってるから、あんな状況じゃ機体の強化なんて考えられもしないワケ
とどのつまり、何だかんだバエルはあの状態でいるしかなかったってこと

It probably wouldve worked, had he defeated Gaelio at the end. Military command would be unlikely to turn, but the actual soldiers would have. Gaelio was the big opportunity to prove the legend of Bael and the right to rule.

S2 could’ve been better, sadly the pacing died when everything was somewhat repeated and just felt rushed. They should’ve extended it to a 3rd season. I really felt S2 was super rushed, hence the storytelling felt like shit compared to S1.

What infuriates me is that McGillis had much MUCH more raw skill than Gaelio, and he had at least 2 opportunities to kill Gaelio, one in Grimgerde, one in Bael as shown in the vid.
McGillis was a great pilot given he had the least AV buff, but boy does he suck at making sure Gaelio is dead. Heck, he pretty much trashed Kimaris Vidar with minimal damage on his part and then left it instead of double tapping it ffs.
It was only "close" because of plot and plot is gonna plot I guess. 😅
