Thank you Anna for sharing your experience! Can you tell me please exactly how you prepared the layers behind the gold? You use shellac ( how many layers?) and then you spread one layer of...lac? What kind of? You are using a brush for this or you sprey it?
Thank you! I use one layer of shellac. Then I cover surface with 2-3 layers of lac (Tikkurilla Unica Super 90). I mix lac with white-spirit ~1:1. And I wait 24h between layers. I use the sintetic brush.
Beautiful video, can you please state what is the two ingredients are you are using. One is the Oil Mixtion however not clear on the white S? Looks like you have mixed equal parts. If you could kindly confirm what hte product is and its proportions. thank you.

Thank you! I cover with olifa only the painting. I cover the gold with varnish before painting.
Nice work. Can I ask you what is the kind of clothe that you are using to rub the gold leaf as a burnishing step ?
Thank you. I polish the gold with special clothe from Noris (Kölner-Instacoll tissue for pressing and polishing).

Very beautiful. But if the gold is true ( not imitation ) does it need varnish ? Can it be varnished with shellac if it needs to be protected ?
The gold is true gold, so I cover it with vanish. I don’t like shellac, because it will be darker in the future.

Thank you! I gold the orthodox icon with varnish surface and the mixtion. I paint icons on the special wood.

I think you can write with the dissolved gold if you need 🤔 It depends of the surface for writing.
