  • Storm Babet hits Astrobloke's Village Observatory - Did it survive?
    In this video we discuss the storm called Babet that has swept across the UK causing damage and floods. I live in Suffolk and flooding was a major problem. After making sure our home was ok I then had to see how my DIY observatory had faired. I just hoped I had built it well enough to survive extreme weather events. Did it survive??

    Good to hear you weren’t to badly affected! I’m over from Australia for a couple of weeks visiting family in Wickham Market, we were in Framlingham and Easton two days before the storm hit. Can’t believe the place was flooded just afterwards. Haven’t had a chance to use my portable rig to get M31 while I’m here, but hopefully will get another clear sky before we go back. Fingers crossed the water subsides and the locals can get dried out soon! Cheers and take care.

    Glad to see you've got through it relatively unscathed Glen, it's been a rough couple of days. The red alert has only just been lifted up here in Aberdeenshire. I live on a hill in the countryside so flooding was less of an issue but 75mph winds and driving rain were a major problem. A couple of people in the area lost their lives unfortunately which is always sad to hear🙁

    • @Astrobloke
      @Astrobloke  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Pete. You guys had it much worse than us. Think I read up to 200mm of rainfall in the same period as our 79mm. The wind was not as bad here either. So glad you made it through relatively unscathed. Just goes to show how good your construction work is. I love what you do and share with the community. I have a weird question for you. Would you have a way of getting in touch with Joe, Joe's Astrophotography? I am automating my roof, have all the gear but need a few changes made to the code and I have no idea how to change it. I have been into the Arduino discord channel asking, but because there are several pieces of software involved, they don't understand what I am trying to do. I even pointed them to your channel. I figured that since Joe gave you a hand with yours, he may give another astronomy geek a hand. If you have a way of getting in touch with him, great, if not, no worries.
