    This is the first time I have seen the method used to gain access through the garage door, thank you I was not aware of the ease of access I was offering to potential threats.

    Great PSA. I have a bunch of those seals in my desk drawer. They go to the AED/CPR storage units so you can tell if it's been removed and put back.

    The better solution is to install a long piece of angle iron over the top of the garage door to deflect a hook from being pushed up through the seal.

    • @ITStactical

      A good solution as well, though a bit more complicated to install. Thanks for the comment. ~ Bryan

      @@ITStactical What, you're not going to paint a piece of Mexican-production angle iron black so you can call it a made-in-USA tactical garage protector for $250?

    On the side frame of the door there are lock bars to lock the door from the inside, or run a chunk of wood blocking a coat hanger.

    I don't see these on your website.

    I don't want to be that guy but that looks like a garbage tag we use in Canada to mark extra bags and I am pretty sure I could also buy that exact same thing at any hardware store. I still think its a good idea and a good cheap way to get your self to the next level in making products but just saying.

    • @kd5nrh

      Or you could buy them for about a third of the price from ULine. "Tug-tight tamper evident seals."

    For everyone bashing this idea for one reason or another I wonder if you knew about this weakness in your home security prior to Bryan pointing it out back in the day? My point is that these seals are a very cheap way to show support for this free information, and be proactive about your security at the same time.

  • @LogicBob
    @LogicBob 7 лет назад +7

    I like the idea, and I would like to represent ITS there because you WERE the one that brought this issue to my attention years ago. I followed your recommendation then and used a small zip tie exactly where you put the security seal. I hate to say it, but it looks like your product breaks too easily. You can't break it by hooking the arm with the wire?

    • @johnnyboy6583
      @johnnyboy6583 7 лет назад +1

      dude exactly read comments BAD PRODUCT..already on market it seems its is on the way to being what we call in the real world a " sell out"" tryna make a buck off whatever .He should stick to taxtical gear reviews

    • @LogicBob
      @LogicBob 7 лет назад +4

      Johnny Boy I'm not on board with that. I think the product fits and that is evidenced by the fact that Bryan HAS been talking about this issue on ITS for years. People that buy from ITS (like myself) like the logo on the products they sell. I just think they need to beef it up a bit or go with the "shield style" that blocks off that arm all together.

    • @PHOBOS300
      @PHOBOS300 7 лет назад +2

      I think he does a good job informing people about risk they might not have ever considered, I never knew about that attack, not that it would have mattered because I put a C-clamp on the track so it cant open.
      all he said the product does is make it harder, and it does that.

    • @LogicBob
      @LogicBob 7 лет назад

      PHOBOSakaSHELLY True, i only mentioned the strength because I don't think he would intentionally release a product that is less secure than the zip tie he previously recommended.

  • @PHOBOS300
    @PHOBOS300 7 лет назад +2

    if you don't use your garage door a lot or you going to be away for a while, you can put C-clamps at the top of the tracks so that the door cant open as well.
    one is good enough but i have tons of clamps and hang them from the track when not in use so one door is clamped all the time on both and the other only gets one unless im going out of town or something

    • @sik59rt

    • @PHOBOS300
      @PHOBOS300 7 лет назад +1

      they aren't as sturdy as the clamps but there's nothing stopping you from using both

    A zip tie wouldn't work??

    • @jort93z
      @jort93z 7 лет назад +1

      that is simply a fancy zip tie. its the exact same thing. only difference is that those things are tamper-resistant(more than zipties anyway). but why bother tampering with it if you are already inside.

    • @kd5nrh
      @kd5nrh 5 лет назад

      It's not quite a zip tie; it's a lot easier to break, so that the release will still function, but with more force than a coat hanger bent into a hook will generate. Thus, unauthorized access to your garage will be limited to thieves who own something stronger than a coat hanger, or the really smart ones who can twist a loop in the end of the hanger so it won't spring off when pulled hard.
      IOW, it serves the same purpose as every other product ITS sells; fleecing people too lazy to Google up the same or better products at less than half the price elsewhere so their staff won't have to get real jobs.

      They make special purpose higher quality hooks that wouldn't readily deform. The bent coat hanger is a poor thugs trick that generally works.

    LOL kinda funny! I have been using Lock Out Tag Out equipment for this purpose. I can still get in throw the garage door if I had to, the pin to slide is meant to poop or break away under pressure. the other was is to shear the slide locks on either side then poop the slide.

    If it breaks with a little more force it hasn't added any more security. Alot of police stations give away free pistol cable locks. I run a pistol cable lock through mine and just leave the key in it . It would be very difficult to turn a key using a wire buy from the inside it would be drastically more secure than what amounts to the strength of a bread tie with a cool logo. Come on guys. You can do better than this?

    Gotta love the obligatory comment from weak minded brain donors accusing you of teaching thieves how to do their trade. Because why would you ever blame the individual who does the wrong, when you can assign blame to the few men out there trying to help the victims and potential victims by showing just how vulnerable you are. Truly the illusion of security is better for some.

    • @ITStactical
      @ITStactical  7 лет назад +1

      It's ok, those comments are in most every video we do; you get used to seeing them. "Don't show that, because criminals will learn!" Guess what, they already know how. Like you said, many would rather just go on not knowing those vulnerabilities exist, than to see them "exposed" on the internet in an attempt to help law-abiding citizens better protect themselves and their families. Thanks for the comment ~ Bryan

    • @daa3417
      @daa3417 7 лет назад

      No thanks necessary, it's you who's providing the public service after all. It is laughable though, I mean imagine if the guy doing your open heart surgery learned his trade off youtube, what makes people think the kind of thieves who do B&E's don't already possess all the skill and experience needed to pull them off.
