Reviewing Interesting Genealogy Polls

- In this video, I go through some interesting genealogy polls in my community tab.
I made this video a little over a year ago and just never released it, partially because I hated how out of focus I was and wasn't sure if it was that interesting. After finding this again and rewatching, I enjoyed it and figured I might as well release it.

Growing up, we went to a family reunion on my mom’s side every second Sunday in September (same town and community center) up to 2020. About 10 years before 2020, it started shrinking in numbers as to how many people attended. Before 2010, we would have up to 80. Around 2010, down to about half that, about 5 years before 2020, we were down to 15 in attendance.
I can trace my mother's line back to my 11th great-grandmother late 1500s/early 1600s
I really enjoy participating in your community polls. Keep them coming!
It's amazing, I thought I had answered most of your polls (I love polls) but I fail to recall most of those featured in this video... 🤔
I don't know if I answered them and then forgot about it, or if I missed them.
Regarding my purely maternal line, I can go back to my 9th-great-grandmother Isabel João, married in 1664 just 13 km (straight line) south of were I was born. The marriage record does not mention the groom's and bride's parents names, so I cannot go further back on that line.
Most of my ancestors in my direct male line are either 2end cousins or 3rd etc. . I have certain ancestors that I decent from like 10 or more times in 1600.
19 - My dad’s side his mum alone had 11 siblings, his dad had 6, each of my mum’s parents each had 2.
For my mum’s purely maternal maternal lines so far I can get back to my 7th Great Grandmother who was born about 1700 (I can get back farther on my mum’s maternal grandmother’s paternal line (circa 1500).
One of my sets of paternal Gr. grandparents were married from 57 yrs 10 mos., 29 days ( Nov. 1917 to Oct. 1975). The others were all about 45 yrs.
Three of grandparents had 10 or more siblings who reached adulthood, so I consider my maternal grandmother to be from a small family of "only" 5 children. Including those who died during childhood, I have 44 great aunts and uncles (with birth years ranging from 1912 to 1958) so "more than 20" does not really begin to describe the situation.
I have a half sister, she was raised with me. In the past in my birth country more than one marriage was common due to the lower life expectancy at the time, and yes they had children with their new spouse. My mother's mother was the child of her father and his fifth wife. My mother was born when her mother was 41 and her father 42, she was the sixth and last child.
I have cut my family tree back somewhat as I don't see the value of being related to someone as a 5th, 6th or more cousin. I only go back to the 1700s which is quite far, and mainly because my haplogroup subclade is dated to that time, my 5th great grandfather. I am Maltese of Maltese ancestry, I was born in Malta, I live in Australia. I have a first cousin in Australia, the daughter of my uncle, father's side, and a 2nd cousin on my mother's side who lives in New Jersey, he has my mother's maiden surname, so I found out my grandfathers haplogroup. I was born in a country that didn't have a post war boom, I fall into the Boomer generation in Australia. My parents and grandparents and so on had quite a few siblings.
I'm consider as a Millennial ('87) but have a lot of my direct ancestors alive during the 1950. 4 Grand, 8 1st Great Grand, 2 2nd Great Grand & 1 3rd Great Grand (15 Total; 14 in the Census because one died 5 weeks before Census).
My Great grandfather was granted a divorce after his wife left him (in New Zealand) and went back to Australia. As a result I have a lot of half connections in Australia as she remarried as well. I also have half siblings as both my parents remarried. We also have reason to believe that one of my maternal great grandmothers had a child outside of marriage (she was separated from her husband). She went to Australia, had a baby there, and came back to New Zealand to live with her daughters. I have yet to follow up on the daughter who was born in Australia (and stayed there) and we don't know who the father is. On the birth record it has my Great grandfather as the parent, but awe know that is highly unlikely. A family secret to work on.
I can trace most of my family lines to mid-1500s or mid-1600s. Interestingly, my Polish partner took a DNA test with familytreedna, and you are 4th cousin to him. He has a lot of Jewish matches but only 2% Jewish (Mizrahi) autosomal dna. You look very much like him 😊
Also 14 siblings for my grandparents in total.
On the findagrave thinking better question how many people use it as a primary source
14 in 1950.
3:40 am I young? I had 34 direct ancestors alive in 1950 (my mom's parents were born in the 50s so I couldn't even count them and I have a few fifth great grandparents that survived a few years into 1950 in their ninth decade of age)
11:30 I have pictures up to my 5th great grandmother who was born in 1816 and have names five generations past her but I'm not very good at going through Norwegian records
I’m GenZ and my grandparents were born in between 1929 and 1943.
My parents were around that time and I'm Gen X.
My siblings are baby boomers, Gen X and Millennials.
My daughter is Gen Alpha. My siblings children, so her cousins, are Millennials, Gen X and Gen Alpha. The older ones babysit her. 😂
All of my grand parents were born between 1906-1915. My parents were 1947 and 1952 boomers. By the time I was an adult all of my grandparents would have been in their 90s. In fact, most of them were deceased at that point. My oldest sister was Gen X, I’m the youngest of five. Technically a Millennials, but I was raised like a GenX.
@@MsPeabody1231 now that’s a crazy family dynamic.
3rd Great Grands I know 27 of 32 that's where my Brickwalls start coming - 28 of 64 of 4th great grandpatents
I was an outlier on most of these
