Hi Adam. I Just wanted to say that your wife is doing a great job in the video editing department. The clips are very soothing and well done.... That being said, I really miss you talking in the vid's and teaching. You have so much knowledge to share. Thanks !!!
You could certainly make this channel just about teaching about machining (and you do a heck of a job teaching Adam, speaking as a teacher), but there is so much history and tradition around manufacturing and atmosphere and sights and sounds around machining that you and Abby both know need to be conveyed and experienced too. You are a great team, and thanks for all that you do to share your shop with us!
I just thought I’d leave my opinion. I have to have they say I don’t enjoy these videos. I don’t watch them all the way. I watch RUclips to learn things. Watching chips fly I’m not learning.
I will share that like this “show without the telling” format, Adam. Through your large library of videos, you’ve taken us through just about every procedure and set up. There are times when it nice just to watch the chips fly. I appreciate the time and effort required to put videos together. This format gives you something of a break. I know you’ll continue to offer your more usual fare when and as projects arise. Cheers.
I very rarely make a negative comment. But the value in Adam’s videos is his participation in a particular project. I understand you desire to fill time when you are traveling. But this is not a good substitute
This video is for people like myself that enjoy Adams regular videos but also enjoy the calming sounds of the workshop. You know what the video was about. Watch his Abom Travels channel if you want to see what he is up to.

I prefer seeing a project, carefully explained, go through it's production process. The ASMR is repetitive and boring. I'm sure I'm seeing some of the same clips as last time.
Hey, give Adam a break, it's hard to take a 2 month vacation road trip and continue to make videos...but you keep watching, or Adam will have to get a job!
Abby, as much as I like you and Adam, me not being a machinist yet someone who likes machine porn ... this really doesn't work for me. I like to understand what's going on and what Adam's doing. Just watching metal shavings really doesn't cut it for me.
It's OK if you skip the ones with ASMR In the title - they're just clips of work already done in previous videos. It says in the description these videos are is in addition to his normal videos, which will continue to have narration. Not all videos have to be your favorites - other people enjoy these.

One of these every once in a while is something I’d definitely welcome. I find machining very relaxing to watch and even sleep-inducing. I’d just encourage you to stay on each piece longer to show what they become. Big fan of the channel and someone who learns a lot from you and appreciates your work ethic.
Adam, the entire sum of what I know about matching I’ve learned here on your channel. I’ve run woodworking equipment but never a lathe or mill, but your style of instruction makes the subject feel very approachable to the uninitiated . One of the things I find so fascinating by this video is the vast array of speeds and feeds. I’d love to know more about how you choose a specific speed and feed for a particular material and procedure. Are there reference tables in the Machinery’s Handbook, for example? I think more information about how you make these decisions would add another layer to the information. Love the channel, thank you.
I’m by no means a pro, but I think for a lot of machinists, speeds and feeds becomes a matter of intuition. The machine speaks to you. You can tell when you’re pushing it too hard by the sound the motor and gearing makes, you can tell if your feeds are off by the sound of the cutter and by the appearance of the chips. You can feel the vibrations in the machine. When it all comes together, its smooth as butter and the machine purrs.
There is a degree of hands on intuition involved in manual machining but the fact is it's mostly about the speed the workpiece is traveling past the tool, the type of Cutter and it's edge profile and the material being cut. You can see when doing a 'face' cut (the surface at the exposed end of the workpiece), the surface speed goes from fast (at the out side diameter) to quite slow (when you get to the center) there will be a range of surface finishes. Yep the recommended surface speeds will be in the handbook or if you're using an 'insert' (Carbide) I guess you would go to the insert manufacturer. Not a pro either...
It's a great way to see all the scenarios and tools, like an overview. I'd play this to high school kids to get them interested in the trade. Well done - really enjoyed it.
I think Abbey does a great professional job!!!, I do prefer your other type of videos I guess I like seeing a job from start to completion. Thank you for all you do for you fans!!!!!

This is kinda the reason i watch this channel in the first place XD He talks for a bit then goes quiet as he works occasionally mentioning something. The longest shots where he just leaves the camera going for awhile are the best.
I subscribed to you channel a few years back in order to learn more machining techniques and you did a pretty good job of it. Alas, that is no longer the case. Today there is more talk about the various machines you have accumulated than there is actual usage. Then there is the videos on going to museums, tradeshows, and tours through manufacturers facilities. Another thing that seldom happened before but has become the norm is the promotion of certain products and machines. Now we are getting soundbites from the past. Things have changed to point where one might start to question the advantage to subscribing to this channel. You may want to think about that and perhaps refocus on the original intention of the channel.
That's the problem with becoming a fulltime RUclipsr, the focus is on putting out videos to make revenue. The views should be enough to make abom realise he might have to go back to real work soon 😅
It's the unfortunate reality of making income through social media, content starts to become watered down because it's way easier to make and takes less investment than in-depth tutorials, etc. Adam's a good guy, and I've supported him since 2015. You just have to look past it somewhat; it's not really his fault, it's just what the algorithm prefers most of the time.
One who has come along in leaps and bounds whilst staying in his lane is Keith Rucker. His work overall is increasing in its challenges, having recently done gear cutting and helical gears is next. His machine renovations together with being highly proficient at scraping go well beyond what Adam does. And he puts out 2 videos every week whilst holding a full time job and also doing volunteer work at the railways museum. Whereas some of Adam's projects go almost back to apprentice level work nowadays. Hope the new CNC stuff works for him.
@@richardjones-sl2zdBut also keep in mind that Keith is on a different trajectory than Adam. Keith works a white collar job completely unrelated to machine work, so he has money coming in from his day job to fund his machine shop. RUclips is Adam’s job. Keith could stop making videos tomorrow and he’ll be fine. Adam needs to keep feeding the monster, or the algorithm will pull the plug. With that said “whilst staying in his lane”?! Are you serious? Are you that entitled? If Adam or Keith wanted to start posting videos about woodwork or tomatoes or aquaculture or oil painting, that is entirely their prerogative. There is no “lane”, that is only a figment of your entitled imagination. Unbelievable.
All the people who requested this... Grrrr. If all the clips were part of doing a project then maybe I would enjoy it more, currently it's kind of meaningless to me... Just my five cents worth.
“Grrrr”? lol. Just don’t watch. It’s not hard. In fact, it’s easier to not watch than it is to watch, get upset, and comment that you’re upset. Adam and Abby aren’t making you angry, you’re making yourself angry.
@@KeelanLightfoot It's just frustration, not that one word is going to communicate my thoughts so I used a more generic expression. I will add that your comment is upsetting but this is the comments section after all so that's all good :P In all the years I have been sub'd to Abom the last two videos are unique so I'm giving my take on the change and I'm not just saying that I don't like it (Grrrr). Read my comment again for the creative suggestion... On another note, are you related to Gordon?
I feel bad leaving that comment after learning Adam’s wife put this together. Love the content, I guess his explanations of how and why are what makes it interesting to me.
I love watching the machining and the audio and i like all of his machining videos as well. This sort of video isn't for everyone but i think it is a great show of machining as ART and people should look at it that way.
Nope, Adam, I'm sorry, but I didn't sign up for this. I know you've got to move on & up to reach your dream and I wish you the very best but it's no longer educational and entertaining. Cruising around the country and barbecue and buying CNC...trying to be too many things to to many people.
@@andrewterry8092 I'd take yearly 2 month long road trips If I amassed a load of money from RUclips creation. I don't blame him at all. You only live once
Can't stand these none narrative videos . I first subsribed to your channel for your interesting content ,sorry but latley the quality content isn't there anymore for me . Been subsribed from the very start . I will look in once and a while to see if the content improves ......
Adam, I am a beginner and enjoyed all your past narrated videos much more than these current ASMR video's. Not that they are not good video, just looking for the educational style videos from the past. Thanks for sharing.
Basically it just means, No Talking and just uses the ambient noise for content. Some people really enjoy it. It's definitely better than the usual sucking and slurping noises you hear when you attempt to watch most, ASMR videos. LOL.
Wiki: “An autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR)[2][3][4] is a tingling sensation that usually begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. A pleasant form of paresthesia,[5] it has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia[6][7] and may overlap with frisson.[8] ASMR is a subjective experience of "low-grade euphoria" characterized by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin". It is most commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, and less commonly by intentional attention control.” “A genre of videos intended to induce ASMR has emerged, approximately 25 million of which had been published on RUclips by 2022,[10] and categories of dedicated live ASMR streams exist on Twitch, Kick, Instagram, and TikTok.”
@@KeelanLightfootThe comment section is there for people to express their views. And you used it for that purpose, quite rightly. But so did @rogerdeane3608. If you don’t like his views just bear in mind that he probably doesn’t like yours either.

I think it's great that she has an opportunity to work with Adam on something they're both passionate about. Haters are going to hate! Keep em coming I for one love it! ❤
It’s not so much that it’s ‘hate’ in that it shouldn’t exist, but perhaps it should have its own channel so it serves its subscriber base, and the original Abom content finds its subscriber base.
@@caphenning That's a valid point but I think the description couldn't make it any clearer in that this is just something that Abby is using to learn video editing. I'm not sure how anyone can say what should or should exist on someone's channel, surely this is in the gift of the channels owner. Clearly they are a team and I applaud Adam for putting his faith in Abby, I think constructive feedback is what is needed and if this isn't something you like or are interested in then just accept that it wasn't for you. I personally cannot get enough of the machining content especially the shaper, the building of the new shop whilst it's great to see Adam prosper doesn't really do it for me, so I just accept that video wasn't for me and look forward to the next instalment. I don't feel there is any need to comment that it's not what I want and certainly wouldn't feel I should be saying that it shouldn't exist on the channel. I do accept that hate is probably too strong a word in this case but it was simply a turn of phrase that I felt fit what I was trying to convey.
@@TheDankFarmer That’s great. I was giving my feedback as one of the subscribers that helps the channel pay him. I don’t see him complaining about it, why do you think your words mean anything in the world? Why did you think you needed to interject your two cents when they hold no value in this conversation?

I could watch this format of vid ALL DAY LONG ! so ENJOYED Adam .. Keep it up man 👍👍👍👍
Don't egg them on.
Marvelous machining
Yess always knew you where a ASMR machinist , me too
The schaefer is my absolute favorite asmr machine , since machinist school 35 years ago ❤
Nobody’s getting angry, just feed back
@@TERRYB0688 what does “grrrr” imply to you?
@@KeelanLightfoot "Grrrr" is ASMR as well! 😉
Love this! Thank you!
Adam, I love to hear you describing what you are doing. This is OK but I like the other better.
I agree I prefer to know what is being worked on
I like the way you describe what you are doing and why. Watching chips come off isn't what I'm here for. Please return to former format.
This editing style combined with your photography skills really worked.
It just keeps getting better.
I enjoy this. Nice job Abby.
Not a fan
I feel bad leaving that comment after learning Adam’s wife put this together. Love the content, I guess his explanations of how and why are what makes it interesting to me.
@@billstanisci9807 Don't feel bad, they're on a 2 month long vacation.
I could watch the horizontal milling machine for hours! 😍
In the days when Adam did projects and shared them on a Saturday…….wish he would do that again things were simple interesting and fun..🤷🏼♂️👏🏼🇬🇧
You mean like 2 weeks ago?
I love watching the machining and the audio and i like all of his machining videos as well. This sort of video isn't for everyone but i think it is a great show of machining as ART and people should look at it that way.
Strangely, I watch probably 85% of the videos these clips came from.
Adam, I enjoy your videos, no matter what you two are doing. Keep it up. Thanks!
Not a fan. Dislike this new you. Want to see real machine work being done.
Nice job, Abby !!
Abby great job , really enjoyed the video.
i'm kinda surprised that you haven't moved a shaper into the new shop
Some of these comments... 🤡. We're lucky to have ya Abom!
Abby this rocks! I remember some of these jobs. I love the shaper shots!
I really like these ASMR videos you are making! But I like all your videos.
Love it!
Great job Abby loved you videos your very talented ya'll make a great team, RollTide
Love these Abom 👍
Nice! Thank you!
Can't stand these none narrative videos . I first subsribed to your channel for your interesting content ,sorry but latley the quality content isn't there anymore for me . Been subsribed from the very start . I will look in once and a while to see if the content improves ......
Read the damn video description.
@@Dreddip drop dead boso
See the other channel, he's on holidays, these are all just fill ins because there's no other work to be shown.
@@Jacob-64 People not allowed an opinion?
...agree.
Great Job Maestro!
Adam, I am a beginner and enjoyed all your past narrated videos much more than these current ASMR video's. Not that they are not good video, just looking for the educational style videos from the past.
Thanks for sharing.
Imagine for a second…
Imagine that Adam is on vacation, so he’s posting this kind of content while on vacation instead of posting nothing at all.
What does ASMR mean?
It is most commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, and less commonly by intentional attention control.”
“A genre of videos intended to induce ASMR has emerged, approximately 25 million of which had been published on RUclips by 2022,[10] and categories of dedicated live ASMR streams exist on Twitch, Kick, Instagram, and TikTok.”
Ahh, those marvelous chips!
I wouldn't call the angle grinder soothing for the ears hahah
Great Job Abby....
Thanks.
I have Question for Adam ? Why was he shaving off the Sides of the Trailer Hitch ??
Mike M.
If this is all you can produce it's Goodbye from me.
Lol. I bet you go around calling millennials entitled too, eh?
Maybe try a little introspection.
@@KeelanLightfootThe comment section is there for people to express their views. And you used it for that purpose, quite rightly. But so did @rogerdeane3608. If you don’t like his views just bear in mind that he probably doesn’t like yours either.
@@KeelanLightfoot I was just wondering, who is a millennial here? Where did you get that from? It's not alright to go psychoanalyzing and putting words in peoples mouth just because you feel you need to.
It's not alright ok.
@@andrewterry8092 I can't comment on most of what you said mate because this pseudo psychoanalysis is just being nasty in a pseudo clever way and Keelan seems to use it quite ruthlessly and meanly in my opinion.
Maybe Keelan is the millennial, or maybe they are the one who likes to call them entitled themselves... Maybe they will let us know :)
I don't understand some folk, all the originals are already up and posted if you want the full chapter and verse. This is something Abby wants to do and I say bring it on!
@@jasonfrary Hate IS far too strong! No wonder this world is so going down the toilet /shakes head
@@TheDankFarmer That’s great. I was giving my feedback as one of the subscribers that helps the channel pay him. I don’t see him complaining about it, why do you think your words mean anything in the world? Why did you think you needed to interject your two cents when they hold no value in this conversation?
Now we dont even get the explanation / teaching part -
Abby Made this from Previous Videos....
I love the sound of a machine just doing it's thing. One of the few times I wouldn't have a radio playing in the shop, was when I was running the Bridgeport, or making sizzle sounds with a welder. I Miss that machine. Sold it off before a big move. Need to find another.
Nothing better than the shaper.
