not worst the repair in my case since I don't have the spare chip or the hot air iron to do the job. let alone the time and effort to open up this 10 year old phone. Those would cost way more than buying a mid tier phone that would out performs Note5, running latest andriod OS.
I have an ipad with similar issue. what's pity of a nice mint looking phone and ipad. really appreciate your sharing. One day I would do this type of repair for fun or educational purpose.

What kind of chip is that one you replaced from another board? Is it charging ic? Thanks

I really wish you could talk us through what your doing. IMO if someone can just watch and actually understand what it is your doing, they probably don't need any help repairing things because they already know how.... or maybe I'm just dumb... lol bc I don't understand how you came to the conclusion of it being that little chip causing the problem. Thanks for sharing though, I wish I knew enough about electronics to fault find.

My note 5 makes 1 black chip on the motherboard super hot when I plug in the charger, but not hot when I put in the battery.
At the moment it doesn't work.

Sorry sir i doing charging IC charge. You can't follow then check nearest service center
