- After taking six Austalian wickets in the first innings of the 1990 MCG Test, Pakistan legend Wasim Akram continued his excellent match with another five wickets in the second innings. He took the key wickets of Dean Jones and Steve Waugh and finished with his first (of three) 11-wicket hauls in Tests.

Bro, he had a 500+ wickets in ODIs not in tests. He had 414 wickets in tests & 502 wickets in ODIs. But you are right, if DRS were in those days, he could have ended with many more wickets.
But then if you had 21 cameras covering the match in that era Akram wickets tally would have been not the same as Pakistan bowlers accepted they used to change the shape of the ball with cap ofwater bottles during Drinks break.
But still He is the best I have seen at par with McGrath
You can add to that 300+ catches dropped by Pakistani fielders😂

Let's assume even if it was tampered, u still need a lot of skill to ball those reverse swings. I can bet, u can give a tampered ball to all bowlers in the world, u will hardly find a handful who can get reverse swing.
It is better to watch these old classics than current cricket
Sachin,lara,kallis,ponting these players had class of their own and they were indeed the legends of the game,But when it comes to skill level and all round ability. Wasim akram was unmatchable

That’s some horrendous umpiring! Akram would have had double the number of wickets if he had DRS and a half decent fielding side with him.
Also he bowled a lot in the flat subcontinental pitches not offering too much to fast bowlers..

He is the best all round bowler of all time. Not just a swing bowler. Macgrath himself said that Wasim is the most skillful bowler he has ever seen. Allan Donald, Ambrosr, Waqar everybody said the same. Most complete bowler ever.

He was brilliant when he played over in England in the 1992 series. As an Englishman and cricket fan you could only marvel at how well he played. I think Waqar Younis was on that tour as well??
Waqar did play in that series after missing the world cup due to injury, Waqar and Wasim were the chief destroyer, Alec Stewart played brilliantly in that series, scored a bucket full of runs, it was also the end of Botham career
@@zachaman4458 David Gower as well. We won the 4th test at Headingley, thanks to Neil Mallender mainly. Yet Pakistan were just too good for us in the series.
Correct Mr Kipling, Wasim and Waqar made that tour special and helped modern teams to bowl reverse swing, back then it was cheating but now it is an art form.
Wasim Akram would always be top of my bowler's list in any best in World 11, amazingly he could also bat.

Bcz I agree the catches drop from his bowling or Umpire decision not in his favour then the wickets have to be taken by him or any other bowler so amount of wickets depends upon how much matches he had played

The man had everything an ideal pace bowler should have! Seam, swing and genuine pace. Too bad Pakistan batted really poorly. Otherwise Wasim would have won them the match. If I remember correctly, he was man of the match in this game even though Pakistan lost. I think he had 11 wickets in the game total.
Greatest thing about Akram that he TOOK THE PRESSURE of bowling death overs for TEN YEARS.. TEN YEARS.. 1987 TO 1998. Was McGrath bowling those last overs ..
