Just changed mine today, very easy w ramps, does not need to be level.. I just loosen the black cover, no need to fully remove it.. very little oil came out.. working the filter cover back and forth.. it will eventually pop off w a little pulling.. cost me less than 100 dollars.. no need for the flush, via Chevrolet engineers I was able to research.. saved me like 500 bucks
@@Steveleanr Glad we could help!
Nice video guys.
Glad you enjoyed it
Can you guys made a video about changing transmission fluid?
I would like to see that as well.
Looks like you lose very little fluid...mine has the extra 2 quarts and I sure don't want to remove air filter box + extras to top-off the fluid.
I had the same question stated by @skylerallens. I read elsewhere that a flush should be done when replacing the filter and this requires a (MDi?) scan tool from Chevy. @Paragon Performance, can you confirm the necessity of flushing the system with filter change and whether the tool is required to do so?
Hello, I'm operating a Corvette c8 in Korea. my C8 currently driving a 2020 year. 41,000km,
I replaced dct filter + mission oil at 30000km.
I want to replace the dct filter because it's a replacement cycle, do I need to inject additional mission oil after replacing the filter? Or do I need to inject additional oil only when driving the track?
additional transmission fluid is only recommended for track use on Z51 cars, no fluid top off is required for DCT service.
@@ParagonPerformance I will replace the dct filter today. Thanks!
My dealer completed all of that in 6.5 hours including engine oil and engine filter. 😂
Your dealer needs to step up the pace
Did a hydraulic valve flush procedure needed to be done prior to changing the DCT filter? Apparently, GM made it a requirement to do the flush procedure which requires an MDi2 scan tool.
I was wondering the same thing, they did not mention that part of the procedure.
@@rashirace4842 Just found out recently, GM had revised the procedures to require an MDi scan tool when performing a DCT flush and filter change. Those scan tools costs about $500 last I saw on some website, which would likely be clone devices.
I wonder if there's a way to pump DCT fluid up through the filter area to give the extra quart needed for track use. The traditional way is very very time-consuming as you have to take out the trunk, intake, etc.
ridiculous of chevy to NOT include the 2 quarts/litres of DCT fluid. When they do things like cheap out on 2 litres of fluid in a car costing 100k it really makes me think twice about wanting one. makes you wonder where else they are cheaping out on the car!
@@puny-tinsucks5102 im mechanically useless, but I was able to add the extra 2 quarts via the access bolt behind the rear driver's wheel. you just have to lift that side of the car so the transmission fluid all runs to the far side, leaving the bolt behind the wheel now above the fluid level. took me less than an hour. it would take someone that knew how to work on cars and had the right tools probably 15 or 20 minutes tops. I did it myself because the dealer wanted to charge me $500 at delivery time, even though they already had the trunk mostly apart to install the high wing. I just got the first DCT filter replacement earlier this week for free. I'm told next time it will run around $800, so I looked for the DIY video and found this. Seems like the dealership should be able to do this in an hour or less. $800 my @$$.
No torque settings for the rest of the bolts? We only saw the 53 in-lbs for the filter housing. :( But also the ones for the panels (the 10mm, 13mm and Torx E16) should have some sort of torque setting. Got a clue?
Just snug them up with a hand tool. Snug is tight, tight is broke. The most crucial torque is the filter housing.
I heard the filter bolts are one time use?!
Nothing special about these bolts. Re-torque and go.
Did you reset the AT FLUID FILTER LIFE PERCENTAGE?
Hello I want to change the filter on the corvette but doss the motore have to be cold?? Or shlead it be hot?
If you're just changing the filter the engine can be cold or warm, doesn't matter.
Why remove the 10mm and 13mm bolts while still on the ground?
If using a hoist the arm will block the bolts from being removed.
I heard the dealers are charging $900 for this service, insanity!
Absolutely insane
I need audible instructions because I am blind.
Do you need to add fluid once you remove the filter. Looks like a fair amount comes out with the filter. Also, I've not had to change the filter yet, but can you do a video on how to reset the oil and DCT fluid life.
Thanks for the great video's.
GM states that now fluid needs to be added as the amount lost on the filter change is very minimal. However, after maybe 5-6 ( 40K miles ) of these changes I would add a small amount back. :)
@@ParagonPerformance Thank you !
@@ParagonPerformance That's absolutely not true. GM Tech clearly states to top this off after a filter change.
@@zac76156 Not sure that means Zac. GM Delivers C8 Stingrays 2 quarts low intentionally. Top off to what ? I had the 2 quarts added on my free filter change. Changed the second one myself. Very, very little fluid is lost. So if a tech says top off, top of what ?
@@ParagonPerformance So this is required every 8k miles?
Do I need to drain the trans oil before I open the trans filter housing?
Not if you’re just changing the filter.
@@ParagonPerformance Ok, thanks.
Can you use rhino ramps to do this or is a lift required to avoid suspension compression?
Anything to get under the car and keep it level
@@ParagonPerformance The car needs to be level?
I used rhino ramps today, does not need to be level. Took me about an hour and a half
You don't need to put any fluid back into the system?
It's not necessary, the fluid that comes out with the filter is very minimal.
@@ParagonPerformance thanks for this information. The Chevy dealership I go to is telling me it's gonna cost me $900.00 just to change the filter; UGH
@@danluedecking5354 They are ripping you off. Just do it yourself, it's really simple.
@@ParagonPerformance not everyone has a lift, they are likely going to have to take it to someone other than the stealership and Dan never go back to a place that quotes you $900 for what you saw Paragon do in likely less than an hour
@@puny-tinsucks5102 For $900 he could probably drive his C8 to us, have a nice weekend in Des Moines and Drive back with leftover money in his pocket for more parts.
Guess who read that as 53ftlbs and broke a bolt inside the transmission 😅
Ouch, we’re you able to get it out?
* We’re not responsible for any damaged 😅😉
@@ParagonPerformance after a lot of patience I was! I was REALLY lucky the bolt snapped outside the thread.
