Dorian, the fugue in particular, feels otherworldly even by Bach's standards. Surely, the music of higher planes is unconceivable to men, but perhaps Dorian manages to offer a glimpse? :). Are you, by any chance, aware of works (by any composer) that "resemble" it?

I'm personally not a big fan of this recording. The staccato notes make is seem much less dramatic than it should be in my opinion. Richter has better recordings of this piece that I enjoy far more than this one.
All of Richter's live performances have an incredible charm and magnetism ...
Were Bach to have asked anyone to perform any of his works, I'm confident it would have been Karl Richter.
Wonderful!
Thanks for this other videos of my beloved Maestro. I would like to see videos of Bach's sacred choral works performed by HIM !!
Es un amor
How few people have understood the spiritual depth of Dorian. And of those how manyhave hadthe competence and opportunity to perform it this well

The term 'spiritual depth' is a highly subjective concept. I would be interested to know how you would define it.
Warum nur diese elektronische Verfremdung durch Pseudostereo und Kunsthall??
