    Were Bach to have asked anyone to perform any of his works, I'm confident it would have been Karl Richter.

    How few people have understood the spiritual depth of Dorian. And of those how manyhave hadthe competence and opportunity to perform it this well

      @user-uf7td3fe1k The Dorian fugue feels otherworldly even by Bach's standards. What you surely mean is that it feels TO YOU otherworldly even by Bach's standards.

      The term 'spiritual depth' is a highly subjective concept. I would be interested to know how you would define it.

    I'm personally not a big fan of this recording. The staccato notes make is seem much less dramatic than it should be in my opinion. Richter has better recordings of this piece that I enjoy far more than this one.
