My take on this is that this piece is so impossible that it's ok to do some mistakes. While he probably love so much the Sibelius violin concerto that he wants to deliver an almost perfect performance
TheAskald Or maybe he was practicing this already and putting Sibelius on top of it would be too much.
TheAskald Honestly, I’m impressed he even did that. A piece like this in two months is mind blowing, even though he clearly doesn’t have it down perfect still. I don’t blame him for not throwing in the Sibelius, this is even harder.

You know, there's a wonderful sense of poetry at the end.
Eddy has just collapsed after his amazing attempt at this stunningly difficult piece. He knows it's not perfect, but he succeeded in making it to the end without any huge mistakes (needing to stop or redo a section, etc). He utters this guttural sigh of relief that it's done, it's finally done, and better than one would have expected after only two months of practice. It's followed only by a poignant stillness and two words inscribed on the parting screen: "keep practicing".
The chills were real.

Just want to clarify, yes we know Brett is known for his amazing LH pizz. But it doesn't mean only Brett can do it or has to do it . LH Pizz is a skill that Eddy showed he could pick up if he practiced. Remember Twoset is a package of Brett and Eddy. Can you imagine if a teacher says that child X is better than child Y in trigonometry, so child Y doesn't need or is not expected to learn or do? If a person lives with the belief that others are better than him and he will never be able to do that, so he wouldn't try, then he will never be able to do it. Eddy, stop depreciating yourself and have some confidence after this performance. TS fans, please be encouraging towards Eddy. Twosetviolin is capable of great things for the classical music world when both members in the team continue to grow stronger together. Remember, a team is only as strong as its weakest link. So both members must be responsible for its growth.

Ok, so with 4 hours of practice a day it takes me a week to really memorize 1 page of music (that music is of course, nowhere near this difficult), so the most I could do in two months is memorize something that's 8 pages of fairly easy music. This man memorized 11 pages of one of the hardest pieces of music ever created in that time. What a mad lad.
You know... Sometimes when they joke that Eddy is not that good or when they start comparing themselves to people who literally have practiced a piece much longer than they have and generally praising others but downgrading themselves for comedy’s sake usually makes us forget that these two guys are musicians and they are hardworking, talented and have studied this. Eddy and Brett are professionals, we mustn’t forget that. 👀
Although I don't wanna sat that brett is not a bad musician in any way. I still think eddy is a bit better
There's always some twat that feels they need to remind the rest of us that B + E are professional musicians, just in case we forget.
@Kheijhack Tubalinal We've seen them sight read a *new* piece alot of times, and Eddy does most of them better tho. I'll say Eddy got the sight read and pitch but Brett got the technique, they both have their own pros and cons
I don't think anyone forgot...
Frugal Lentigo 🤷♀️

“I’m Eddy Chen, and this is my Masterclass.” - Eddy Chen, 2019
I would love to hear more performances with voice-over commentary by these two. Their own or someone else's. I really loved Eddy's analysis here.
