Always a pleasure to watch your videos and hear about the progress of your journey! Keep doing what you do! I will be doing something similar in the near future and everything you do and say is helpful! Safe journey
Thanks for letting me know, I always want to hear what people are most interested in. I have a lot to learn about growing here, but I've started, and plan to get better. Here's a video that shows what I've started so far if you'd like to see. ruclips.net/video/pvm6X_wzxRo/видео.html
Y'all know ya miss the hippie hot tub under the snow capped mountains looking up at Polaris flanked by the King and Queen of the North with the fire cracking and the homemade pine scented candle torch a blazing:)
What I know is I'm out at my fire pit more nights than not. I see Polaris easily as the sky is clear & free of pollution, light & otherwise.. I start with burning my TP, and then the fire grows from there. I feel grateful every night that this is my life, and not just a passing moment I have while I'm on vacation;)
Thanks Ray, I appreciate the encouragement! That wall was actually one of the first things we built when I bought this property. It's not finished because there are so many other things to spend the money on, but thanks all the same, you take care too.
Gracias, gracias.
I have Baja Connect for internet, it's been excellent. I have a house with a flush toilet, no need for an outhouse thank goodness lol, and yes to both the septic & compost. I share a bit more about them in this video if you'd like to see more. ruclips.net/video/pvm6X_wzxRo/видео.html
How much solar are you running? Batteries? Inverter? I have a EG4 24000 Btu mini split that runs directly off solar panels. Of course at night it would have to run off of charged Batteries.
I made a video that talks about and shows all those details. My mini splits run off solar also. Good stuff! For more info, here you go ruclips.net/video/bRCLqOaukds/видео.html
I'm growing almost all of my own greens now, it's great to not have to buy moringa capsules anymore, and to also know mine is organic. Aside from the greens, tomatoes & some herbs & lemons I'm still buying the majority of my food at the great fruteria at the end of my street, but the transition is in progress for sure!
Oh how I love your butterfly gate ♥. I feel so fortunate that my best friend lives down there too (I think I told you?) so I'm blessed to have a place to go WTSHTF. Many things were revealed during the lockdown! I am shocked you get deliveries as she has mail problems especially from the states. Loved seeing your pets Veda. You are a joy and a blessing and I'm thankful for your channel (it's Thanksgiving time here in Dallas).
Aw, great eye noticing my butterfly gate hehee yep that was a custom gift I gave to myself, I love butterflies. WTSHTF, hahaha, that's great. Not sure I've heard it before but totally know what it stands for! ;) Perfect that you have a BF down here, and I'm as shocked as you are that I'm able to receive deliveries. It's not regular mail though, it's amazon, mercado libre ect.. I wouldn't count on receiving something sent by regular mail. The big companies are very motivated to get you your pkg. Regular mail, not so much lol. Thank you for tuning in sister! 🙏
In most ways it seems to have remained pretty consistent over the years, except this year for me was noticeably different. We had no hurricanes which was a blessing, but unfortunately we also had significantly lress rain than previous years. I imagine Mother Nature is going to make up for that next year, so I'm just doing my best to be ready for it.
Man, did #4 speak to me. People lost their minds during the pandemic. I actually saw a fist fight in Whole Foods in CA over someone not walking in the direction of the arrows. Remember those ridiculous arrows? Almost as stupid as the plexiglass partitions. Good Lord, it was nuts. And, that was over a pandemic that was relatively harmless to healthy people. Could me MUCH worse next time. And, yes, living off grid, far from population centers, self reliant and stocked up with supplies is a great idea. And, being surrounded on three sides by water doesn't hurt your odds of getting sick in the first place either. I know this video focused on off grid living, but you should consider doing a video on two gigantic reasons why living in Mexico is better than Canada or the US..... #1: WAY lower property taxes #2: WAY lower cost of Healthcare. I personally know people with paid off houses in the US and they're still really struggling due primarily to those two reasons. Retirement is phenomenal in Mexico. Terrible in the US.
Lol hey Rick, thanks for weighing in. As usual, I agree with everything you said, and I confess your story about the fist fight in Whole foods made me laugh out loud. 🤭 I absolutely remember those arrows hahahaa, there was so much ridiculousness going on and yep, it could definitely get much worse. I also appreciate the video idea, I'm always looking for ideas! Problem is, most of my viewers are in the US, and probably aren't going to want to hear some of those hard truths. Another thing I often think about is the fact that the dollar continues to lose value, so the longer people wait to get out of there, the harder it will be. But I don't think I'm ready to make a video about that yet. ;) The health care thing though, I juuust might.. I have some first hand personal experience with it, so let's see what happens. Thanks again for always for being part of the conversation, it's nice to know I'm not alone!
Im from Rosarito Baja California, alot of American communities here , im glad you are brave to go off grid and retire in our beautiful neighbor state Baja Sur , saddly violence is real topic in our country just be careful with people of the bad side (narcos), and dont draw attention. Just keep it lowkey.
Thanks for looking out for me. I actually made a full video about my experiences here related to safety. A funny twist is that the guy that was conning me was 'taken care of' by the cartel, due to a completely unrelated incident. I know that in many ways they try to keep communities problem free. That said, I do stay pretty low key, other than this channel. If you'd like to hear that story, here's the link. ruclips.net/video/pvF6YPheCqY/видео.html
I drove through Baja Norte on my way here from Canada and it didn't inspire me to stay, so here I am, lol. I'm on the west coast though, enjoying those ocean breezes, but in the dead of summer it's still really warm.
Where I live, fruits n veggies are rarely labelled organic, but I have no doubt they're less treated than up north. Tell tale signs, for example, the sweet potatoes, ginger, onions, they all sprout easily, meaning they haven't been sprayed with growth inhibitor. Most produce is not as big as up north. I'm no expert, but that to me is also a good sign. Less perfect looking, also good. Eggs are top notch, not washed or refrigerated, also a really good sign.
I was made aware that The Baja is incorrect sometime in the last year, but after a decade of saying The Baja, it's a hard habit to break. Having said that, why do you feel so strongly about it, I'm curious.
PS. You know who doesn't care if you say The Baja? Mexicans. It seems to be only pretentious Americans who want to point out your poor grammar. What's the point really?
Yes it did Thank you!!
Thanks for tuning in!

Thanks Shannon, glad I can be of service, all the best to you!
I really love that gate and fence. Did you build that as well? Beautiful property!
Thanks for the update.
Thanks for always tuning in mr.g, and for your great questions too.
great video and ALL true aboiut Canada
Thanks for weighing in Jocelyn, glad you enjoyed the video!
fan in the tent, looks cozy! doggy approved :)
Hehee, yep she totally approved, waiting each night for me to carry her out there lol
I'm looking forward for some gardening videos, I'm curious how stuff grows in your area.

Do you have a septic system, composting or out house facilities? Do you have local internet or starlink?
I have Baja Connect for internet, it's been excellent. I have a house with a flush toilet, no need for an outhouse thank goodness lol, and yes to both the septic & compost. I share a bit more about them in this video if you'd like to see more. ruclips.net/video/pvm6X_wzxRo/видео.html

What % of your food do you buy vs growing / raising?
I'm growing almost all of my own greens now, it's great to not have to buy moringa capsules anymore, and to also know mine is organic. Since you have been living in Mexico x number of years. How much have you seen the weather change from heat, cold rain levels to record breaking?
In most ways it seems to have remained pretty consistent over the years, except this year for me was noticeably different. We had no hurricanes which was a blessing, but unfortunately we also had significantly lress rain than previous years. I imagine Mother Nature is going to make up for that next year, so I'm just doing my best to be ready for it.
That is a big wall you got there! Why is that necessary/desirable?

What country are those Americans from?
Remember America is more than 30 countries.
Andrew is just kissing ass. He doesn't know our history, inviting those intrusives over. That's how they stole Texas

Why not Baja Norte? The climate is much milder on the west coast with better infrastructure.
I drove through Baja Norte on my way here from Canada and it didn't inspire me to stay, so here I am, lol. I'm on the west coast though, enjoying those ocean breezes, but in the dead of summer it's still really warm.
I want to get started and build a EPS Styrofoam house

Please dont' say "The Baja"
