I've never heard this song before ... Having had two baby boys, I can relate to this song. After my oldest boy was killed, I was encouraged by my grief counselor to either journal or write some poetry. I'd never taken time to do any kind of writing. But I wrote a poem I titled "Beautiful Brown-Eyed Boy". I worked on it for months, writing and editing it over and over again -- crying the entire time. It helped so much to get the grief out. My Dad used to quote John Lennon when I was growing up. He always told me that when a man falls in love with a woman, he should mean it. Walk hand in hand with her for life.
after John was killed, Paul listened to this song in his studio and Paul bawled his eyes out for John, it's really heartbreaking to watch, this song really makes me cry my eyes out, it just hits me hard
This song is off John's final album, "Double Fantasy". Though he could not have known it at the time, he got a chance to leave a farewell song, this one, for his son Sean and "Woman" for his wife Yoko on it. They are two of my favorites. People often forget that he also wrote a lullaby for his first son, Julian, when the Beatles were still together. It is called "Good Night" which is the final track on the so-called 'White Album.' That song was sung by Ringo because John was too macho at the time to allow himself to be heard singing it, but of course, he was not too macho to write it.
The lyrics are very different. There's no praise for Julian in Good Night; it's a generic lullaby. In Beautiful Boy, he mentions Sean by name at the end. Julian's name is not included in Good Night. It might be a lullaby he sang to Julian and even wrote to sing to Julian, but it was recorded while he was having an affair while still married to Cynthia his first wife.

I started crying because this song was on John's last album before was senselessly murdered. Sean Lennon lost his dad when he was only 5 years old. So sad.
Julian lost his dad when he was 5 as well. That's when John divorced his wife after cheating with Yoko. John only cared about Sean, which makes him a horrible father in my opinion.
From 1975 when his son Sean was born to 5 years later when John went back into the studio and recorded this, John was a house husband and stayed home to raise Sean. Beautiful Boy is a testament to his ensuring fatherly love. Thanks for this! 😃 👍
He wrote this beautiful song for his son, Sean, that he stayed home and took care of for the first five years of Sean’s life. Sean was only 5 when John was so senselessly murdered…

The weeks after John was killed were a period of cold shock, December into January. This song would play on the radio, also "Woman", which John wrote for Yoko, another gorgeous track; man, I tell you, that last chorus in "Woman": "I love you___ now and forever", this lullabye to his new son, Sean......lots of crying. Not ashamed to admit. You all hold each other, while you can.

Don't spoil your boy too much now!
Congratulations guys!!! I’m a 62 year old man and I tear 😥 up every time I hear this song. It contains some of my favorite lyrics ever… “life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”. Sadly, Sean never got to know his dad and John never got to watch him “come of age” 😢
I cry every time I hear this song. Such a beautiful song from the heart of a proud father. Although they only had 5 years together, Sean will always know how much his father loved him. This was a wonderful suggestion. Thank you to whomever suggested it. This is just perfect for Jordan and Amber. Congratulations!!
This song makes me tear up every time. Especially when he sings the lines: I can hardly wait to see you to come of age, But I guess we'll both just have to be patient. Of course John never got to go very far along that path, when his journey was cut short soon after Sean's fifth birthday,.
This song hits hard after you have a son. I remember watch Mr. Peabody and Sherman with my young boys when the song came on and tears just started rolling down my cheeks.
First off congratulations on the new addition to the family. Paul McCartney picked this song of John's as one of his Desert Island Discs. It's so sad that John grew up without a dad and both his sons also grew up without a dad too! Stay safe 🤘 ✌
John wasn't able to be with his older son Julian much when he was younger because he was on the road with the Beatles & then moved to New York & they were an ocean apart. When he had Sean he wasn't touring so he was able to be home with him all the time. It makes me so sad that John was killed before he could watch Sean grow up & be there for him & reconnect with Julian. The relationship he had with Julian mirrored his relationship with his Mother. She wasn't really there for him while he was growing up & as soon as they started to connect she passed away & he was just starting to reconnect with Julian when he got killed. By the way, the place is looking awesome! Good to have y'all back. Thanks for the videos of the baby & his awesome big sisters. And thanks for the smiles.
Welcome back y’all! And may I say that your new space looks sick👌🏼...you should listen to “Forever Young” from Rod Stewart which touches on what you said Jordan.
John, Yoko, and Sean had shared a sailboat trip around the Bahamas in early 1980, before starting to record in NYC, his final music. The steel drums, influenced by the Bahamas.
"The monster's gone..." That part of the song is kinda like Sandman in reverse... Glad he woke up to what a gift a child is. Sad Julian (his son with first wife Cynthia) couldn't have had more of this side of him.
Ironic that each boy got 5 years of his time. Julian was 5 when John left the family and Sean was 5 when John was murdered. Of course, John was a stay at home father when Sean was a child so he actually spent more time with Sean as he was at the height of his career & touring the globe when Julian was small.
Congratulations and it’s amazing that you’re back here with us already. Your smiles and emotions during this reaction just brightened my day, thank you guys again.
So glad to hear you've got a healthy, happy baby. Was admittedly a bit concerned when I noticed you weren't posting for a few days, but then figured y'all were just taking some well-deserved time away to usher that new life into the world.

And Roberta Flack was John & Yoko's neighbor in the Dakota Building
I started crying because this song was on John's last album before was senselessly murdered. Sean Lennon lost his dad when he was only 5 years old. So sad.
Julian lost his dad when he was 5 as well. That's when John divorced his wife after cheating with Yoko. John only cared about Sean, which makes him a horrible father in my opinion.
Congrats guys, My son just turned 28 and this song still brings tears to my eyes.
That was a whole lot of smile. Dig it! CONGRATS on the lil baby man. Good stuff.
From 1975 when his son Sean was born to 5 years later when John went back into the studio and recorded this, John was a house husband and stayed home to raise Sean. Beautiful Boy is a testament to his ensuring fatherly love. Thanks for this! 😃 👍
Our first baby was still born in 1984, we named him Sean after this song.
❤
Sorry for your loss, just can't imagine.
❤
He wrote this beautiful song for his son, Sean, that he stayed home and took care of for the first five years of Sean’s life. Sean was only 5 when John was so senselessly murdered…
Love the new room! Always get a smile listening with you
CONGRATULATION , guys..,have a great life, all the best....xxx to Your beautiful boy,..darling.❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
i came here after yoko shared your reaction on twitter and this made me cry so much, it's so sad that john didn't get to go on that journey with sean physically but i know he never really left, he lives on in precious moments like this - and i'm so happy for you and your baby boy! congratulations and i hope you have a wonderful time raising your beautiful boy
Well, as soon as I wipe away all of these tears, I will be able to type. lol This song is so special and it is especially special now that it is associated with Luca's start in life. You guys are the BEST parents and deserve so much happiness and joy which I'm sure that your children will provide for you. Thank you so much for being you.... Take care and be well. Peace.
Your room looks great!
Congratulations on your beautiful beautiful boy
Congrats you guys. Good to hear that things went smooth. Welcome to life, Luca!! Great choice for a reaction.
CONGRATULATIONS, TO YOU BOTH. GOD BLESS YOUR BABY BOY.
The room is awesome. The song is sweet, but Luca's parents are sweeter.
God bless your children. “Before you go to sleep, say a little prayer”.
Congratulations you two there's a unique and beautiful version of this song in the movie Mr Holland's Opus with Richard Dreyfuss that always comes to mind when I hear this
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." What a great line, and how true.
Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" is a good one for welcoming a new baby. He wrote it for his daughter. You can change the pronoun when you sing it.
Or 'you are the sunshine of my life'
Will Smith's "Just the Two of Us".
@@davidgalvez5341 Grover Washington Jr written by Bill Withers!
Daryl Hall wrote “Sarah Smile” for his daughter, though most people think he’s singing it to a gf.
This song is one of my favorites. I wore out the record because I played the album so much. I also love that name Aisha(I hope I spelt it right)
My beautiful boy just turned 30 and this song still chokes me up. A parent's love song to their child never grows old.
Congrats on the birth of your son. Yes, great song, the whole album was one that I enjoyed. I can "imagine", if John had lived, we might have been blessed with song collaborations from John Lennon with both of his talented sons. What could have been, no doubt, would have been fantastic. Don't spoil your boy too much now!
Awwww, Baby Luca's first Song, Perfect....You look amazing Amber, Looking smiley J (Proud Daddy)...I think Boys are easier...Blessings of Peace
The day we brought my baby boy home I held him and listen to father and son by Cat Stevens and balled my eyes out! Congrats m'man!
Welcome back and with a great song too. Cheers!
Amber , you ROCK!!!! So happy Luca is here. Healthy and beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Especially when he sings the lines:
I can hardly wait to see you to come of age,
But I guess we'll both just have to be patient.
Welcome to your new baby King. Love and adore you both. Glad you're good Mama. You are perfect.
Great song choice!! This song was featured in the Mr. Peabody and Sherman movie from about five years ago. Congrats on your beautiful boy.
Welcome Back Home Congratulations own y’all’s Baby Boy. Thanks for the reaction loved this song.
Congrats on the baby boy y'all! Texas shout out
Perfect song for your first day home! Welcome home. Your wall looks amazing! Amber you look great!
So happy for y'all. Glad everyone is healthy.
The lyric " Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans" is classic!
Congrats on the birth of your son. He will be blessed having two beautiful, loving parents like you two.
"The monster's gone..."
That part of the song is kinda like Sandman in reverse...
It’s not much unfortunately, but at least John tried to make amends with Julian in his final years.
@@edgarlazaro859 It was when John was briefly separated from Yoko that he started to reconnect with Julian
God Bless your beautiful family....Congratulations!!!
Congratulations and it’s amazing that you’re back here with us already. Your smiles and emotions during this reaction just brightened my day, thank you guys again.
Welcome home Luca!! Love the new studio!!
So glad to hear you've got a healthy, happy baby. Was admittedly a bit concerned when I noticed you weren't posting for a few days, but then figured y'all were just taking some well-deserved time away to usher that new life into the world.
Congratulations on your beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy!
His son Sean is an accomplished musician that deserves a listen too.
Both sons are musician's 😎👍
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! God Bless & Good Wishes.
That bit where he sings 'I can hardly wait to see you come of age' always does me in, because, of course, he didn't.
I love your faces at the very end of the song. You both have your eyes closed with such serene smiles! Congratulations again.
It's so sad listening to this song, all the promises of the future. John was murdered when Sean was five.
It's also sad that he didn't seem to care as much for the son he had prior to his child with Yoko
@@jillmayer9501 exactly he was a nasty person 👍
@@josmith2031 Did you know him personally then? Interesting...do tell us some personal stories of his nastiness.
@@josmith2031 Did you know throughout his entire solo career, all his concert income went straight to charity? Did you know he held a benefit concert for disabled children where he raised millions? Did you know he bought the entire city police force bulletproof vests just before he was sadly gunned down himself? Do your research before making silly judgmental comments 👍🏻

🎊 Congratulations. To you and your family and your beautiful ,beautiful, beautiful, beautiful boy. And Amber... wow what a beautiful Mom. Happiness to all of you.😄✌
Another gem of a song imo is by White Lion "When The Children Cry".....awesome message 💗🕊️. Congrats on the new member of the Rob Squad 💜👣.
Welcome back and congratulations on your beautiful boy glad all is safe
