I've seen a number of people who had that pen crack very quickly under normal use or other build quality issues. That may be out dated info, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who was looking to start their FP journey.
Edwards Gardens is such a beautiful ink! it’s named after a park in Toronto which is near where i went to middle school! thanks so much for sharing and congrats on your winning the giveaway! 💛
The isopropyl alcohol in sanitizer is what works well. When I worked at tech shop we used to mark computer using sharpies and use rubbing alcohol to clean off
Love your nail colour in this video! And I’ve just got my first Ferris Wheel ink, got the Aurorealis limited edition and the shimmer is amazing. But the pen itself feels a bit on the light side, but for a beginner like me it’s quite nice to use.
I love the colour of the pen so much! Sadly it broke in the first two weeks I had it (cracked plastic from removing cap). They sent me a new one, and it cracked the second day. I know I’m gentle as can be so it’s not me, they just have super faulty cap sizing. Glued it with super glue and use it anyway, but sad they don’t last! Love their inks though.
Oh no! That's what I've been hearing from a lot of people, too. I did only dip test the pen rather than use it properly so not the greatest test. I'm so sorry you had that experience.
Watching the drop of the ink down the side of the notebook is so painful!! I had a droplet fall out of my fountain ink literally on Jan 1st right on the side of my brand new hobonichi a6 😭😭
I have one of those pens. It writes ok but the converter doesn't always sit in place very well... The shape is really lovely though. That colour is very you.
I agree with you, the converter doesn't sit right. I've had it come loose for literally no reason just sitting on my desk and leaked ink everywhere. I even tried to put a Diamine cartridge in it and that didn't sit right either. I also agree with it being just an okay writer, mine is an incredibly dry writer to the point I have to be very picky with what inks I put in it. Mine also has a lot of feedback to the point it feels like a scratchy pencil and I kind of hate it. I'm planning on messing around with it sometime soon when I can be bothered. I had a Roundabout too (the sister pen to the Carousel that's the same other than it's a rollerball) but I have since modified it so that now it has a Kaweco Sport nib on it. It was surprisingly easy to do too, and it writes much better than my Carousel and the converter sits better too, go figure.
I love Edward's Garden so much. I got the last bottle from one of the Aussie shops 😍 That pen seems a lot better than I would have expected. Thank you for sharing 🙂
That is a gorgeous color. I don't have that one yet. I really hope your pen behaves, mine acted like a 2 yr old that never straightened up. I am so disappointed in it. The nib is scratchy and the ink flow is off and on and I wonder if it has anything to do with that ball inside the converter. I cannot get it apart to get the ball out. Please let me know how the pen works out for you.
So true! I guess what do you expect from a $15 pens, I expect alot- I have a Kakuno that will run races around this pen. I am not sure if I would be happy with the metal pen. Especially if it has the same nib.@@tanyarobinson1146
@tbayless8324 @tanyarobinson1146 I'm so sorry the experience wasn't great! This was okay to dip, but I never filled the converter. Thank you for sharing your experiences!
That ink is beautiful. I’m not generally a big fan of blues, but I do like that one. Actually, there are quite a few FWP inks that I admire. I like their grey poupon, too. The pen reminds me of a Kaweco. Thanks for sharing. Sorry about the ink mess, but grateful for the clean up tip.
I quite like the Carousel. It's a cheap little pen that works well for the price. Haven't had one crack yet, but i remember the FPs I bought in the 80's for 20$ back then. They cracked and got your fingers full of ink and that was part of the experience. The white Pelikan M600/605 also had issues with cracking but the price is over $500! I didn't realize the drama surrounding FWP, but I'm not sure I understand it all. So they use influencers for promotion; who doesn't these day? Using AI? Other ink companies have used it as well. They are pricey, but it's like going to the farmers market where you pay more than the grocery store but support local people. I will continue to support Canadian companies when I can . I'll definitively stop if they make ink from the blood of puppies or something as nefarious!
Thank you for your comment! It's definitely interesting to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions about Ferris Wheel Press - I am a fan of their inks and love that they are a Canadian company, but there are other things about them that are making me think twice.
I'll need to do more research to filter rumors from facts. Incredible that there can be so much politics in the purchase of a bottle of ink. I really just want to play with the pretty colours and forget about the snow for a while!!! 😁
Lovely color ink. All their inks are pretty, but expensive. They use influencers to advertise for them, which I think is brilliant on one level, as it shows adaptability to the modern era of constant online-ness, but depending on how those influencers are paid, (and how honest they are paid not to be,) it could be an ethical strike against the company. Also one of these paid influencers early on turned out to be a Jan 6th insurrectionist. The community exposed her and she was removed as far as I know. They had a few botched product launches which angered the fountain pen community, leaving a sour taste in some people's mouths. And the latest is that they are using AI to do the box art and advertising copy, in order to avoid paying artists and writers.
Thank you for sharing. I'm not an influencer or ambassador for them, and I am aware of what happened with that particular person and I'm glad that FWP did remove her. I don't agree with all of their practices, and it will make me consider what to do in the future.
Thanks for the info re the AI art. That fancy packaging is often used as a selling point, and people think they are supporting small businesses, so that clarification is needed that it’s only the FWP company. Regarding the use of influencers, a lot of businesses are using them, but many are not appropriately compensating them for their time. So that’s a bit tricky. I haven’t bought any of their products as yet, just got a couple free samples of ink, their range look interesting but I am not interested in their pens. I will continue to monitor before I buy any of their products.

Yes to this!
I have the Tumultuous Tides fountain pen and ink. It's amazing how much joy a little plastic pen and some pretty ink can bring.
Yes to this!!

Good to know! Thank you!
In my youth, I sold popsicles in Edward Gardens from a cart, a very memorable day in the summer. Will look forward to acquiring it.
I love this story! Thank you for sharing!

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing!

Ooh thank you!

Hope you enjoy it! Aurorealis is one of my favourite inks!

The converter that came with my Carousel won't stay put, so I can't use it, but I love the FWP ink I got.
That seems to be the consensus - the pen is not great but the ink is gorgeous.
You guessed right! It is the same nib size as a Kaweco Sports.
Watching the drop of the ink down the side of the notebook is so painful!! I had a droplet fall out of my fountain ink literally on Jan 1st right on the side of my brand new hobonichi a6 😭😭
😭😭 I feel your pain!
I have one of those pens. It writes ok but the converter doesn't always sit in place very well... The shape is really lovely though. That colour is very you.
Thank you for the info - from the sounds of the comments, the pen is not a favourite.
it looks very similar to the kaweco perkeo (are they manufactured by the same folks??). i have the kaweco and have had no problems with it.

@ina_lina Kaweco's pens are, imo, much better quality, these just look similar.
Gorgeous pen & ink!
Edwards Gardens is a beautiful ink!
Thank you! Yes it is a beautiful ink! Cannot wait to put this in a pen.
I love Edward's Garden so much. I got the last bottle from one of the Aussie shops 😍 That pen seems a lot better than I would have expected. Thank you for sharing 🙂
The ink is definitely getting better reviews than the pen!

I am not buying their pens any more. They don't even hold up with their inks.

@@KarynaLovesToPlan I'm good! Lesson learned. You never know until you try it out!
Stunning ink! 🤩 It landed in my shopping basket right away when I saw your first ink drops. Just had to see if the store had it and they did! 🤸🏼♂️😍❤️
Hope you enjoy it!
Where do you get the grid on the back of the blank paper? Is that a grid insert like in traveler's company ?
That is an insert that comes with the Galen Leather notebooks
Ty very much
What size is your ring binder and where did you purchase it, if you don’t mind me asking? The type and size of the paper? Thank you in advance!
The binder is from Amazon and it says it was A5 size. The paper is Tomoe River Paper that I also bought off Amazon that I cut down to size.

I need to try their Goose Poupon, too! Thanks for watching!
Just recently found you, and I love your videos! Can I ask where you got your dip pen? It's absolutely gorgeous!
The acrylic dip pen (purple swirly) is from River City Pen Company! You can find them at instagram.com/rivercitypenco
This is my favorite ink!!!! I have it in a Platinum 3776 Broad nib.
Oh that would be beautiful in that!
Id like to see this ink vs Emerald of Chivore😍
Where did you get your glass pen?
@@rosemorelock the nib is not glass. It is the Kakimori brass nib.
Loving that ink!
It's so good!

Haha thank you!! I'm all about the matte finish right now.

Thank you for the info. I'm new to the fountain pen world so it's always nice to become aware of possible "shenanigans". 🙂❤️
For these reasons, I’ve decided to not buy any more FWP products.
