Well I moved to Sweden on a whim. A friend said he was going with a bunch of people to teach English, so why not come with us. So I did. The whole thing took three weeks, one of which was a preliminary training course.
@@dranthonyg Sorry for the delay in responding, Hurricane "Olaf" knocked out power for 2 days - talk about odd, A Norwegian named Hurricane here is the Baja of Mexico This is my favorite version of some others Iran across when I googled it trying to get a source. It was spouted out in a corporate training seminar I attended in the late 1970s and I can't even remember the instructor's name. So lets say Source "unknown". Two others that came up when googling that have sources are the following but I don't like them as much: "Thorough preparation makes its own luck." [Joe Poyer] and "I am a great believer in luck, and I find that the harder I work the more I have of it." [Stephen Lealock] The quote on work came from a Lipton Tea Bag tag that my boss handed me after he made his tea, in order to compliment my work.
I used to walk to school in Oslo in nothing but my long underwear, jeans, and hand knitted Norwegian sweater so your descriptions of being so cold just going to and from work seem extreme. I can remember being sol cold I wanted to cry on ski trips in Nordmarkka though.
You ended up in the Nordic countries even though you were going to Greece. You are the luckiest in the world. Usually it takes a little while before you fully understand it. The Nordic countries are secret paradises where in the eyes of other countries is just cold and vikings :D
What? You mean to say that I, as a Norwegian, am not a cold viking? I mean, it is 13 degrees outside as I write this, and I have not yet raided someone's house, soo I guess I'm neither cold nor a viking.
I know you know, but just listening to what you say in this video (offered to me today by RUclips algorhythm - it apparently knows I'd love to move to Norway), it sounds like Europe is homogenous the way the US are.
I hear you! I used to think that way. And I know it sounds so ridiculous to kind of mash up so many different cultures into one way of seeing them. But rest assured I do not think that way any longer. And in fact I've realized that so many countries around the world no matter how big or small end up consisting of many many different ways of living, thinking and being.

That is amazing! What an incredible opportunity! 🤩
"Luck is when careful preparation meets opportunity" "Ideas are things that only work when you do"
Amazing quote! Do you have a source? I would love to read more!

Good for you👍

I know right? My tolerance for comfortable temperature is extremely narrow 😆

Preposterous! Say it isn't so!
@@Henoik That’s that secret and now you went to reveal it. Prepare for the wave of immigrants.
@@Redfizh Oh sorry, I hope I'm not the next to be sacrificed to Odin.
I noticed your greek-sounding last name, then I hoped the main reason was that we are almost the only ones calling Greece its "correct" name HELLAS ;)
Yet another good reason!!! 👍👍👍😁😁😁

Work! And bc society here is more aligned with my values ☺️
I could not live in a country that has not a real summer.
I hear you!!! It took me some time to get used to it 😊
I hear you! My comfort zone is 22-24 so Norwegian summers are usually perfect!
Yeah we do? not very long lasting, but definitely a real summer
I still haven't gotten used to the autumn starting in August!!! 😆😆😆Every year when it hits 10-15 I'm like what is this nonsense? 🧐🧐🧐
@@dranthonyg haha yeah it sucks, we wanna keep the summer at least for a little while longer 😙 summer for a norwegian is literally holy
