I read the article about this incident. Andre was in that house for a very long time. Definitely long enough to own it! I hope he fights to the end and wins his case. According to his book, The Chiffon Trenches, he bought his grandmother a house in North Carolina and after she died, he stayed there during the Christmas holidays. I would be surprised if he still has it. He seems to have spent his life hanging around people who really didn't care about him like he thought they did. He should have took notes on how they made and maintained their fortunes. He also seems to like handouts and wasn't too proud to accept things from his so-called friends. In fact, with all the freebies he's received over the years, he could have saved his money and would have been quite well off by now.
This was the perfect opportunity to provide financial literacy instead of speaking on Mr. Talley's downfall. Money is tight for most Americans especially during this pandemic. Regardless as to how much money he earned, he was living a lifestyle many of us will never see in this lifetime; and it's ok. Not everyone is interested in living a lavish life but to live comfortably. Have some compassion for your fellow man. At this point all we have is "hope." I wish Mr. Talley the best.

I believe that financial management should be taught in school, ie taxation, saving, mortgage, pension etc. It should be compulsory. We have seen this situation arise a number of times amongst people who have been financially able. The same happens to people who are less able.
André took off and went from poverty to fashion. He didn’t have time to experience an in between middle class life and have lessons in paying bills or structuring his finances. It’s not his fault. The outside world thinks people are wealthy bc celebrities wear designer clothes and have driver but it’s the opposite. Many celebrities can’t even afford to buy a gown for an event....they have to borrow one.
Publishing and fashion are notorious about not paying well unless you are running the show. Knowledgable Mr Talley was never paid well despite the lofty sounding titles he had, and was known to be accepting generosity and kindness from friends for years. But that has an expiration date which apparently is now. There's no denying his brilliance in his area of expertise, but clearly being smart about his personal finances escaped him. I have not made one new friend in the 13 years I've been retired plus allowed siblings to THINK they bled me dry but I'm soon to receive 21 years of $Back Pay$, with interest, all monetary benefits to be recalculated and to my death will double/triple in pay outs of what would be one normal monthly payment and! And I'm going on 64 retired at 50 so I was able to earn/learn a many more lessons of life! I hope Andre' 1st gets on top of his weight and realize he only has 1-body and if it fails him? You're making good sense about managing money sensibly. Many people allow their egos or desire to live "well" to get them in trouble. He is one of my favorite artistic men. This is quite unfortunate but let this be a lesson to all young people. Too many of us don’t put money away for our retirement. I have seen TOO many senior people who have not saved for retirement in their younger years and now are in a crisis mode. Put your money in dividend paying stocks and other investment vehicles, real estate NOW(passive income vehicles). Your money needs to be making money for you.

You can get a house 2 to 3 yrs after bankruptcy. You can get a car right after bankruptcy and you can get credit cards right after bankruptcy. He's quoting old bankruptcy laws. I'm a former realtor and know this to be true.

Financial mishaps are entirely common among the famous....if that's all the dirty laundry he has, he's doing good...we can never take away from Andre's accomplishments...
According to his book, The Chiffon Trenches, he bought his grandmother a house in North Carolina and after she died, he stayed there during the Christmas holidays. I would be surprised if he still has it. He seems to have spent his life hanging around people who really didn't care about him like he thought they did. He should have took notes on how they made and maintained their fortunes. He also seems to like handouts and wasn't too proud to accept things from his so-called friends. In fact, with all the freebies he's received over the years, he could have saved his money and would have been quite well off by now.
This was the perfect opportunity to provide financial literacy instead of speaking on Mr. Talley's downfall. Money is tight for most Americans especially during this pandemic. Regardless as to how much money he earned, he was living a lifestyle many of us will never see in this lifetime; and it's ok. Not everyone is interested in living a lavish life but to live comfortably. Have some compassion for your fellow man. At this point all we have is "hope." I wish Mr. Talley the best.

I believe that financial management should be taught in school, ie taxation, saving, mortgage, pension etc. It should be compulsory. We have seen this situation arise a number of times amongst people who have been financially able. The same happens to people who are less able.
Not as a gramma course but a definitely compulsory one.
André took off and went from poverty to fashion. He didn’t have time to experience an in between middle class life and have lessons in paying bills or structuring his finances. It’s not his fault. The outside world thinks people are wealthy bc celebrities wear designer clothes and have driver but it’s the opposite. Many celebrities can’t even afford to buy a gown for an event....they have to borrow one.

Publishing and fashion are notorious about not paying well unless you are running the show. Knowledgable Mr Talley was never paid well despite the lofty sounding titles he had, and was known to be accepting generosity and kindness from friends for years. But that has an expiration date which apparently is now. There's no denying his brilliance in his area of expertise, but clearly being smart about his personal finances escaped him.

I have not made one new friend in the 13 years I've been retired plus allowed siblings to THINK they bled me dry but I'm soon to receive 21 years of $Back Pay$, with interest, all monetary benefits to be recalculated and to my death will double/triple in pay outs of what would be one normal monthly payment and! This is quite unfortunate but let this be a lesson to all young people. Too many of us don’t put money away for our retirement. I have seen TOO many senior people who have not saved for retirement in their younger years and now are in a crisis mode. Put your money in dividend paying stocks and other investment vehicles, real estate NOW(passive income vehicles). Your money needs to be making money for you.
