Hey there, guys! I wish you would do at least one hour long vid per week. Between the two of you there is a vast array of topics. I could listen to the two of you converse, it's like meeting friends out socially. Your tribute to ALT is wonderful. I find it unfortunate that he besmirched his own legacy with that book. For a man raised in the American South, I find it impossible that he forgot one of the tenets of being a gentleman: you don't trash women. You also don't publicly complain about being non-employable. He had skills; why was it impossible for him for find gainful employment with the connections he had? I'm afraid he made the error of melding business with his personal life i.e. possibly living above his means when he was editor at large for Vogue. I know it's easy to do. I've watched The September Issue numerous times. He comes off as a deluded ensemble player who think he's the star. One question: who do you think has taken his place in the fashion/social media world? Is there anybody who could assume that mantle? I'm going to catch myself up on your vids. Thank you!!

For the love of god, who are you guys to judge anyone?? I am so offended by your complete lack of empathy for Andre Leon Talley. This is a man who achieved what he did at a time when no black person was given the time of day in the fashion industry. He made it possible for black designers, magazine editors and models to work in the fashion industry. He was an intellectual who possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of fashion going back centuries.He spoke fluent French. In the 1970s he slept on the couches of two grad school friends when he moved to NYC. The work he did for Diana Vreeland was as a volunteer. He worked for Interview magazine as the receptionist and he was paid very little in that position, as well. To hear you basically blaming him for his financial choices is upsetting at best. Maybe you could check your privilege and realize that Andre Leon Talley was a generous man who always took the time to mentor young people of color coming into his industry. He was a genius who paved the way for both of you and I hope that you can realize how petty and judgmental you sound in this video.

In my opinion, Andre was a glorified pet, a token to those people, and he knew it. As a Black person, you don't usually reach certain levels/circles in the fashion industry (or ANY industry) because of your talent or influence: you're allowed in because you're a novelty and "fun", even when you have the credentials to stand on your own. But he made a choice to go along with the charade all these decades, because of the access it gave him to fashion. Deep down, he knew that without their fake-ass friendships and alliances, the privileges available to him would be cut off. Without the benevolence of Anna, he didn't have a leg to stand on in the fashion world. He sacrificed his pride and integrity to be Vogue's adored pet, until he wasn't anymore. He was the first Black creative director at American Vogue, although it is highly doubtful he would've ever been considered to replace Anna. He had a good run, but what a high price he paid.
