And I can honestly say that your video has been the first that made it look easier because of the extra tips you used to do it. I feel more confident now going forward!

    When they are ready for an upgrade, my husband and I impressed with our intex 16x32 sand pump with saltwater generator. We leave it up year round in the upper wet west corner of Washington State. We used foam board insulation under ours. built a platform on one end for jumping and getting in and out.

    Add a ladder that goes inside over and out of the pool for make it easier to enter and exit the pool. Otherwise you will find the ledge where the kiddo's enter and exit the pool will break down over time and use. Otherwise excellent job dad and mom.

    Good job but I could NEVER put that amount of work into setting up for a $150 pool. Oh boy that's next level OCD. My wife sees these videos and thinks I magically have the knowledge, skillset, and TOOLS to accomplish this.

    • @brooklin_bernek
      @brooklin_bernek 14 дней назад

      Haha!! But it doesn’t take a ton of tools. Shovel , cheap level string and sand (sooo cheap we got like 15 bags for nothing at Lowe’s) we also used foam board , the only tool you prob need (maybe not if you have a nice shape life) if a zigzag saw my husband had one for years it made cutting seamless. Its nice to test run the pool (which are not 150$ it’s 300$ for the index we got 12x30) to see if we actually want to do a real above ground one when our kids get bigger. But I hear ya I do that to my hubs sometimes too. Some guys just don’t have it like others.

  • @OldNew45

    Did almost the exact same thing at my ex and I's back yard. Ours was on a slope, so it was a retaining wall on the downhill side. I put in pavers as a base, so we could put a little fire pit and some chairs on it during the off season.

  • @pienuniek
    @pienuniek 3 года назад +17

    If I were you I’d invest in a pool ladder. The kids climbing over the sides is asking for trouble.

  • @stuartgibson1896
    @stuartgibson1896 3 года назад +3

    We did something similar. We used quarry sand, it was much cheaper then the brown river sand or bagged sand.
    The chemicals used in most pools really messed up my kids hair last year. We got an ionizer from Amazon. Much nicer on the kids hair and doesn’t turn my blonde child’s hair green.

    JUST FOR THE KIDS PROTECTION, you are pretty good doing electrical work. here in new york, a above ground pool, needs to be grounded. ever post on the pool needs to be connected with a #8 ground wire, than from the post, to the filter motor. this is done so there is no difference between each one in case they are touched at the same time, to avoid a shock. than the motor needs a ground to a ground rod at least 10 foot long, driven into the dirt. just thought i would tell you, because i don't know what the laws there are

    How did you do the electrical hook up? It looks like you have it plugged into an extension cord. Are you planning on doing something more permanent like an outlet by the pool in the future? Or is this such a small setup it's not necessary. I want to put a pool in myself but everything I read told me I need to have a dedicated plug by the pool and I'd have to get one installed. I like to know your thoughts.

I’m just curious, could you provide brand and model detail on the sand pump you up graded to? Did you need any adapters or were you able to tap it into the 1.25 fittings properly out the box? Any insight would be much appreciated as I think we’re going to upgrade to a sand filter as well.

Appreciate any insights on a simple drainage setup!

    • @MrPostFrame
      @MrPostFrame  2 года назад

      Yes, just dug out a run and put some drain tile in, covered it and used some rock to hide the opening at the pool. Since it's for something like this not too concerned with perfection just make sure it runs downhill!

  • @Yyyyyy5
    @Yyyyyy5 2 года назад

    Sir, you don’t take above ground pools down in the winter. You just pull the pump out and store it where it’s warm and pull the ladder out. Leave the water in the pool that does not come out the inlets it will not hurt the pool one bit and acts as a paper weight for those winter breezes. If you take your pool down every year you will ruin it. Above ground pools only have an average life of 7 years anyway. If you keep taking it down every year you could shorten that life. Above ground pools use plastics and sometimes plastic rivets that become brittle. This is normal and usually causes no problem if you leave the pool be. You start removing them every year they will break. Yes it may be possible to order more but above ground pools once up are better left alone. There may be a little green water clean up before adding new water for the start of the pool season but it’s a small price to pay to prolong the life of the pool.

    • @MrPostFrame
