Everybody reminiscing about this and i'm like my parents never wanted to buy me a gameboy so I never got to play Pokemon. Now I'm 26 and finally bought a gameboy color! Wish me luck with Pokemon :D
Same here... I was dirt poor but my childhood best friend had some well off parents. I remember he gave me a Gameboy color and a copy of red. My first starter was a Charmander and the rest was history.
Used to play this in our Windows 98 computer saved in a floppy disc. Lol. Those good old memories. I wish we can turn back time were a simple game/graphics like this means a lot to us.
The very first Pokémon game along with Red. I actually own the latter. Even though this was late in the original Game Boy's lifespan, this was a HUGE dawn of a great franchise. Nostalgia. It's still hard to believe Pokémon debuted on a handheld made back in 1989. Gen 1 did had a few bugs and issues, but I still play it any day.
I kinda like to think of Green/Red as the "start", just because those colours are consistent with the first Pokémon monster types Bulbasaur and Charmander.
Never played this game back then... Now, I've got Let's Go Pikachu for my Switch, very similar to this game and I'm enjoying every single moment playing it! Awesome game!
I used to play this a lot in okinawa with my brother good old times my dad is a marine stationed in okinawa that's why we were in okinawa I miss those days
I originally bought yellow when I was younger, but recently went out and bought blue from a local game shop. It’s simultaneously nostalgic and refreshing, now starting out with a Squirtle instead of good ol’ Pikachu! P.s. - To maximize your Pokémon team, it’s best to rotate each Pokémon for at least one turn during combat. That way, everyone in your group gets experience.
I remember when I had 12 years playing this game..I was so afraid in the ghost city, the music was so scary, and the colour black and white of the game made it even more scarier hahah So I had to muted the volume of my tv to pass that town.
The thing i remember about this game is the master ball cheat and rare candy cheat we’re I think you have to put it either on item 6 I think fly to cinnabar island do surf up and down the water and find miss ingooo
Not that hard to do in the first gen, especially with a Squirtle. You can utterly humiliate the first gym just by being a Squirtle and destroy the second gym with physical moves. The third gym? Not long before it, you get the Dig TM, which can and will fucking destroy it. After that it's relatively smooth sailing. Just make sure you have an ice move of some kind for Lance, and you're good to go. You have the advantage of being much higher level than much of the game, which makes it easy for the most part. Charmander can do it too, but it's harder due to Brock and then Bruno or whatever that Rock/Fighting dude is named in the Elite 4.
