I have already seen all your previous lessons about poetries, poems, sonnets and rhymes but, surely, I will watch them all again (repetita iuvant the Latins would say). I remember some classes on Shakespeare another about Haiku and another one on a poem by Emily Dickinson. In my small way I read Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters that I advice everyone in particular way The Hill, Fiddler Jones, Doctor Meyers. Thanks a lot Ms Gill.
Dearest teacher. I'm travelling soon to England and would love to be able to meet you, to have the honor of meeting you. Do you give lessons somewhere other than on line? I'm from Argentina and I give English lessons on a very poor neighborhood in the north of the country in Santiago del Estero. Thank you and sorry to intrude. ❤
"Namaste" mam i am from India and i am trying to learn to speak english. Today i got your videos on youtube and i found it very useful. There are many videos but when it comes to pronunciation it is very difficult to understand the word for them whos english is not first language. But your voice and pronunciation is very clear. I understand more than 90%. Thank you.
Dear Gill, I honestly believe you are one of the greatest and gifted teachers I have ever met! Thank you so much, you are wonderful🤗🤗🤗 P.s. I am a teacher of English as well🙂
Hi! Gill. I'm an amateur at writing poems :). But, I love your classes and also poetry. I felt prompted to share one poem that I wrote a long time ago. I hope you like my text. :D How can a few seconds turn life upside down? An unforeseen event that blossomed deep sentiments Contradicting the destiny, you dared to cross the bound Overcoming convictions and impediments. Love, soul of my soul , where have you been these long years? I wandered through the dark streets searching for the light. I tried to find a sense of life in laughter and tears Then I heard your steady voice and life has become bright Because you are the missing fragment in my heart You are the main reason for what I`ve been living for. And since the very beginning, we`ve never been apart . Neither time nor death separates us anymore. Your absence is painful, and my soul is invaded by sorrow But , daily my hopes are revived since you are my morrow. BF
I'm so glad to watch every Gill's lesson, especially like this one about poetry and English literature. Furthermore, one of them encouraged me to learn a verse by heart. Thank you, Gill! ❤
Dear Ma'am Gill, This lesson on ' Rhymes' is very helpful as we start our life as a kid with the Nursery rhymes.Reading or writing poems elevates our imagination and makes life seem beautiful than it really is ! We certainly like rhyming poems as we get a rhythm while reading poetry ! I have also composed a few poems on my own.Every little child imitates his or her parents. My son as a kid once was hiding from me and writing something so insisted him to show me what was he writing ? He showed me and told very innocently " Mom, i am trying to write a poem like you " and he had written only one line " Life is like a feather " ! Thanks,Ma'am !
Dear Ma'am Gill , Since you are a professor of English literature, your suggestions are very valuable as to what are the things that a literary student must follow to tee ? We certainly need your proper guidance ! Thanks ! Ma'am
As usual a very interesting lesson !!! Unfortunately I am not a good rhymer but I still love poetry and poets. I live a few km away from one of the greatest Italian poets: Giacomo Leopardi whom I adore. Thanks a lot Gill.
Probably the most important thing when you live in UK is the pronunciantion. In this way, I appreciate to much the Gill class, is a real support when you arrive to anglo-Saxon country.
Merci 👌beaucoup pour cette leçon. En effet, ça m'intéresse car j'ai un recueil de poésie et je ne sais pas comment le traduire correctement et surtout pour que ça rime aussi en anglais. Merci pour votre réponse.💐
A bug and a flee, went out to sea, upon a reel of cotton, but the bug got drowned, and the flee was found, biting a lady's bottom 😁😂😃Pardon the naughty joke but a cute poem, wouldn't you agree, Gill? Thank you for the very interesting lesson.
Thank you madam Gill, I really do appreciate you lesson. You teach very well and this helped me because i have competition. Thank you so much stay healthy and happy. ❤
Hi! Gill, I love your videos!! It would be great if You make a video talking about English expressions for a job interview. Please!❤...regards from Perú.
Hi - thanks for your kind words - I'm glad you enjoyed my video :-) To find poems for beginners, you could try googling "short rhyming poems for english efl" as there are some good results there!

Actually mam please don't mind but it's the reality that now I don't have to learn this kind of rhymes as there is chat gpt and Google bard present in the market
Hi - there's a big debate going on about Chat-GPT - it may be useful, but it's important for us all to keep exercising our brains, and not rely on technology to do all our thinking for us ;-)

I think that for a rhyme to be beautiful, you need talent, aesthetics, a sense of rhythm, a broad outlook and experience in writing poetry.
