i helped my dad and my brother re-roof our house in Massachusetts years ago and I remember how much work they did, not fun. I like that log splitter! What a neat idea, much faster than hydraulics and less crap to go wrong. Never seen anything like it and I've seen a bunch of log splitters! Always a good vid, my friend!
What a great saw and idea. Glad your roof is done. I don't know how they do themdown here in nearly 100 degree heat, but they do though usually early in the morning. Congratulations all the way around.
Mustie1, It actually works better than I thought it would, much faster than my hydrolic log splitter. Engine sounds good, another perfect Mustie1 tune up!
A very nice bit of kit. It looks like it would be easy to copy in a DIY fashion for ones own use. Or have I fallen off my log and barking up the wrong tree? HA HA HA HA HA HA.
Nice! Much quicker than my old slow hydraulic unit. What is the maximum size hardwood log will it split? 12"long by 16"wide would suit an old bloke like me fine.
I have seen a lot of videos of this type of splitter. This one seems very slow, if you can believe it. That ram should leap out and massacre those rounds in the blink of an eye. Then it should retract lickety-split, if you'll pardon the pun. Maybe you weren't running it at full speed, I don't know. These are neat splitters. DR makes a clone of this one. They're kinda interesting but I don't know if they'll ever replace tried-and-true hydraulic splitters. Crank this one up and let 'er rip!
Always informative and entertaining. I roofed a house about 20 years ago. I can't believe that people choose to do that for a living. I always thought that it should be to punish people and teenager's who know it all. hehehe
Much faster than a hydraulic. I have the same, but in electric. Clean, no gas, no oil, no fumes to breathe...and it goes through everything...very fast.
Bourne Accident I bet I could give it more power - flywheels would be 150 lbs each, super-size the powerplant - replace the petty single cylinder IC engine with the manly man's 230 v 15 hp electric motor, and increase the belt widths.
I use to be big into VW's. I still build one every now and then for a customer. When I'm away from my shop. I can't hardly even go to the races or stand to think about turning a wrench on anything. Nice Bus you have there. I use to have a 66 with reduction axles. 45 mpg. Not very fast though. lol
Mustie1 hey I just bought my first car and it's an old rusty vow bus that I paid 500 bucks for, since the body is in good condition I'm leaving it rusty for the nostalgia. It has a carb issue and it's leaking oil, do u have any carbs for sale? If not can u mabey give me some help fixing it
Wow thats very good isnt it :-)) I can see a mustie1 mod, apply two horizontal blades so it produces quarters :-)) Sort of rack and pinion system but on steroids lol :-) And its got a honda, reliable :-))

That is a cool splitter. I sure miss roofing, did quite a bit of it when I was young. Nothing like baking in the sun after a winter of -40's
very neat tool. You gotta love the ways people have accomplished things.
well that sucked, what did you put on the bike,,

That is a great design. Very quick.
I really like that splitter, much faster than hydro
thats a cool set up,never ever seen one like that before ,sure does look fast
that was actually nice cut like butter
Pretty slick little log splitter
Neat little machine, Richard Peek would love that to play with.
lets just say id rather do a trans in a big truck with no tools then go back up there
A very nice bit of kit. It looks like it would be easy to copy in a DIY fashion for ones own use. Or have I fallen off my log and barking up the wrong tree? HA HA HA HA HA HA.
great old splitter and the best part is that it's not dangerous at all
hey man you'd roll/ran away too if someone was trying to split you in half lol hahaha
and an operator with a handlebar mutache
👍👌👏 I like this kind of log splitter. Would like it even more in combination with an old hit and miss engine.
Best regards luck and health.
wow, the super split is super cool.
Pretty cool little setup.
I like the tray that keeps the split wood from falling off.
This is called a Rack and Pinion system the Rack is the arm and the Pinion is the toothed wheel you called the "cam"
Nifty rig. With those big flywheels I almost expected to see a hit 'n miss engine on it.
Cool setup, never seen one like that either.
you could split rocks with that, was it you that was talkin about a bike show coming up soon,
Those are neat . Some are so fast your fingers are always in danger.
Cool log splitter, always nice too have one around

it does have that old school look
Never seen one like that . . . . . pretty cool . . thanks D, Rog
Ya gotta love big Flywheels eh!!☺
Never seen one of those before but I could do with one during the winter.
it just got too hot, and its now done,
Nice video. Great splitter
i always wanted to build a splitter like this using a old square hay baler
Works great, but imagine getting a shirt sleeve caught in one of those flywheels.
OSHA must have squashed them (Mr. Super Split) like a bug.

Rack & rack gear - I used one with same method in the 90's
That's pretty slick right there.. hahaha

nice! so it's basically a 2 ton punch press turned on its side.
Interesting splitter
Be careful with those flywheels doc, you can lose a leg-!
First time I ever seen one like that
that's a cool 1 fer sure man, cheers
Now thats cool I wonder how it work's with big log's it made fast work on them small one's (like butter) no bogging at all
Give a man a long enough lever and he can move the world....
my dad used to build log splitters before they became popular - these were for pro companies.
Much faster than a hydraulic. I have the same, but in electric. Clean, no gas, no oil, no fumes to breathe...and it goes through everything...very fast.
Would it have trouble splitting a 16" log on a 6 way wedge?
USNVA I think so. 6 way is too many ways. I've see 4 way work well, but I am faster with my 2 way. It sounds funny, but the 2 way is quick quick.
Bourne Accident

USNVA Sounds good to me.
That is really cool.........tony
They don't make em like that anymore. For good reason. It might be just a tad dangerous. I wish I had one. :)
working good job on repair
thats 200 lbs
I see a VW transaxle over there. You building a sand rail?
a split window bus
I use to be big into VW's. I still build one every now and then for a customer. When I'm away from my shop. I can't hardly even go to the races or stand to think about turning a wrench on anything. Nice Bus you have there. I use to have a 66 with reduction axles. 45 mpg. Not very fast though. lol

Vw not vow, stupid autocorrect
man looked them up for some pricing that one is about 4k
with what rpm is the wheel rotating
endless amusment at the Mustie1 compound
Thats kick ass :)
That thing is bad to the bone!!
Wow thats very good isnt it :-))
I can see a mustie1 mod, apply two horizontal blades so it produces quarters :-))
Sort of rack and pinion system but on steroids lol :-)
And its got a honda, reliable :-))
Hell of a lot faster tan hydraulics
Like to see it split Blue Gum( 1ft diameter) or a NZ hard wood Purri.
Yes. Sunday the 22nd 10am -5pm
45 Ferry, RD. Salisbury, MA.
Very cool
OSHA certified? 😄
I like dis.
That is cool
Would like to see it split Elm.
Haaa. I used one like that but the flywheel was 4' in dia. No clutch chain driven scary...
oh i can not get on roof no more
good stuff
cool :-)
WAS HERE
cool
It is very quick
same thing as a DR. log spliter
lol
