The H&K 21E is highly accurate. Nobody really talks about that. On a tripod, with a T&E and the optic on it, assuming it's well bedded, you can put a three round burst through a 6 inch circle at 300 yards. You can use it as a sniper rifle in semi-auto. It'll stand up to years of neglect, basically zero maintenance, in a tropical environment, and still run like a champ. I once saw a 21E suck five belts up a tree in one, long burst, without a hiccup. It didn't occur to anyone involved that five belts was a lot of weight or that 500 round bursts might be a tad abusive. The gun just did it. I'd rather have one of these over an M60E3, or an M240B, any day.
HK21 comes from the box magazine fed HK 11 which comes from the G3 series and G3 from the Spanish Cetme rifle. HK11 has been modified with a detachable box loader so as to transform to a belt fed light machine gun
I look at guns in how they are designed and how they function. I don't care if they are the gun to like at the time or if they are in video games. A system has a serious problem if you have to cut flutes in the chamber to get it to function especially if you reload like I do.
@@BWEFirearms your right. I love guns because of the beauty in engineering it takes to make a good gun. That's why hk guns are so awesome. It's not for nothing why the mp5 is so popular. I get what your saying about flutes and reloading, but that doesn't mean there's a problem with the gun. People don't design guns specifically for reloaders. Like what you like though. I like stens for the their simplicity. And Ive never played video games. Not every young person plays video games.
My 1968 Hk21 had a shorter barrel jacket, a fixed feeding mechanism that did not hinge down and the feeding mechanism “sprocket” rotated 100% of its needed rotation to feed another round off the belt when the bolt traveled one direction, that is why I was told the fun recoiled so violently. The 21E was an improvement being that 50% of the belt feeding is accomplished for each direction the bolt carrier assembly. That way the gun didn’t t need to cycle so harshly to operate reliably.
Something I've found with cetme and other roller delay firearms (which have the spring loaded catch on the bolt carrier) is a pair of channel locks with relatively smooth (or covered/protected) jaws. Carefully apply some pressure to both sides of the rollers and it'll unlock the bolt. On cetme's I've also had success stuffing the bolt carrier in backwards with a plunger type motion so the backside of the reciever forced the rollers in
@johnkatify pray tell mighty expert of the keyboard: how do you service your G3's bolt both on the bench and in the field? Isn't there a bridge somewhere for you to get back to?
Very cool Richard! Appreciate the videos and you taking the time to make them. You have a great passion and gift. Do your thing brother. From NW AL 👍🇺🇸🐍💪
Thanks ,Enjoyed, To Recock the bolt rollers ,you can put the bolt carrier unit into the receiver Backwards and push it in partially , Ran a 51B years ago, was a monster.. Considering how Expensive these firearm's are , I would be embarrassed about those welds on the upper receiver. lol Pretty much everybody Agrees . German engineering is #1. Hope you are feelin well. Later from Texas.
i got a question, When laser engraving the barrel with the Tax stamp holders info, Can it be under the hand guard like in the Mark 18s hand guard? That lower section comes off with two screws.
The markings need to be visible without taking the gun apart. If you can see the marking clearly through slots or holes in the hand guard you should be OK, very grey but OK.

The quality of you content is amazing
Thank you.
I still have an HK93 I bought way back in 1981. Great rifle in 223.
I would like to build one.
How could you not be into h&k guns? I'm not an h&k fan boy but we all know their awesome guns.

these are my favorite.
Been wanting to see a video on the takedown and how to change the Barrel great video thanks for sharing
Your welcome.
Neat-O, Richard! I was unaware of this HK variant. Thanks for sharing.
No problem!
This is superb keep it up. I had no idea this existed.
Glad you liked it!
Very nice. I had a 1968 manufactured 21, it was not the 21E version. It kicked so hard, after shooting a burst my vision would be blurred!

Another thing, I think your version will accept a standard 20 round magazine conversion kit to where the gun I had would not.
This is all good information. I do not know a lot about the 21 series but I am learning. Thanks for the information.

Just assemble the bolt properly.
No need for bubba gunsmithing
