The fact that they added a plugin for the game that warns you about people is so powerful for their organization
What makes runescape so interesting is the fact that so much black market crimes or scams happen. That is a big part of the game. It's cool runewatch sees 25% items returned. That's a lot better than 0%. Just remember that if they weren't able to help everyone.

I remember administrating things after the founder left and Veq took ownership. I was able to run things differently and started a new way of how cases got published similar to the way RW takes upon cases. But being one man running a discord with 1 mod, and handling all cases and returns on top of a 50+ hour work week, was quickly burning me out.
P.S. Thanks for not putting me under any buses here, much appreciated. I had no issues with RW staff nor any personal issues with the founder of RSJ, I was simply running cases to the best of my ability.

Veq was also a really cool guy to work with, he gave/kept me full control over rsj, giving me the ability to help the community. It was an enjoyable experience that I wish I could have had the time to keep going.
I got scammed a tbow split, contacted runewatch and got the guy put on there etc. but belinda, one of the runewatch mods or watever, told me to add the guys name on rs3 because it allowed me to always see their name changes or somethin. Just a fun little piece of info that many probably don't know, I know I didn't.

@@1481LimberLost A soyboy? I was just doing some raids for some virtual pixels and the guy didn’t split lmao, so yeah I reported him, took like 5 minutes lol. We’re all like 30 year old grown men, I could care less about $100 worth of in in game gold lol. It was about the principal.

That pic of the FAQ from the Runescape Justice saying that they think it's "healthy" for people to be able to accuse others of anything without any proof is literally insane.
What could be possibly be a legitimate reason for that? All I can think of is laziness or greediness for not wanting to investigate cases. Which, I guess I can't really fault someone for not wanting to do volunteer work vetting accusations, but then don't have a website specifically for that.

I guess maybe they were thinking about the small amount of players that were scammed but were unable to obtain evidence and only knew their name. Even if you take that into account its not "healthy" because that crowd is much much smaller and of course the false reports happening instead made it more bad then good.
I remember the Rune Police asking people for their passwords in Varrock back in RS2, is this the same police we are talking about?
dude ive been watching through a ton of your videos,and damn you make some of the best rs videos out there, serious props to you man. Great work. I watch maybe like 4 other creators every upload, but yours are the only videos that actually make me want to play rs again. I'm not going to play again, but that says something. The main reason I quit playing RS3 about 4~ years ago was because of a scammer. I'd finally made 90m, and told myself that when I hit 100m, I'd upgrade my gear. I'm not the best player, by far. I played pretty casually. But I had fun, getting gear for myself, and seeing if I could do things myself.
Saw a dude with a lot of people following him doing a drop party, so I thought 'Why not? It's been ages since I've seen one, so why not attend.'
Followed along, and they lead us all to the upstairs of Varrock East bank. They began dropping full rune sets, Whips, Dragon pieces. I was genuinely surprised this kind of thing still happened.
Then one guy said " Oh, I know you. You're X person from Y clan, right? Do you still do doubling? "
Jump to 10 minutes later, and a few dosen trades, with them announcing what a person gave them, and how much they doubled it to. People thanking them, and then they continued doing more drops. I thought 'Alright, this doesn't look like a scam. Maybe he's a genuinely nice person.'
Wrong. I traded them 5m, they doubled it to 10m in two trades. Traded them 10m. Doubled to 20m. Traded them 60m, and they said they were being flooded with trades, and that they'd write my name down. Ten minutes pass, and three of us are now asking to be traded our money back.
Turns out, about 80% of the people there were in on it, and were being paid from the money they managed to scam. Being told to trade all the items they picked up back, and they'd get a cut of the profits.
The next day, I asked if I could have my money back, I didn't want it doubled, just give the 60m back, and I got told 'Earn it. Work for me, and you can earn it back. :)'
I crashed the guys scams until my membership ran out, and never logged in to RS3 again.
Yea, gamers are shitty people most of the time. Narcissism and sociopathy tend to go hand in hand with gamers. Just let this soak in, people are lazy and shitty in one aspect of their life and likely lazy and shitty in every aspect of their life. Live with that knowledge and you will be hyper aware of everything that goes on around you.
i love that theh founder of RSJ made RSJ to help prevent scammers but in the end he was just a scammer himself

A massive metric to look at is if reported cases are going down. That shows it’s working better than percentage does. Scammers be scammers and could just create a new account to scam on and transfer to a main. So returning and the list still doesn’t matter too much to them

It's crazy that players help other players more than jagex. And then we have people like sirpugger who do 100000x more than the owners of RuneScape. It's literally so sad. I'm not sure how they have kept so many players around for so long.
Because Jagex will have to pay employees to do it then have them update/watch over it and I bet they dont want a Mod Jed episode happening again

Wish I saw this video yesterday. Just got scammed for half my bank and I'm taking a break from the game. Wish I had thought of taking screenshots but didn't think I had a reason to and getting scammed is as embarrassing as it is depressing. Never heard of these services or plugins until now.

@@robertbelyea5767 back then the only way to get defense experience was melee so I was making a pure account aiming for 40 def 60 mage tryin to get god spells as low as possible with rune. Needless to say that was far too tedious so I set up a bot program to auto click on a man all day while I was at school. Had a keylogger on it lol... got all my accounts hahaha.

I suggested somebody make a website like this for World of Warcraft to weed out toxic players, because Blizzard were incredibly lazy about policing their rules. The community condemned me for making that suggestion.

How do people even get hacked? I've never been hacked.
Every time I poop, i take a moment to look at the log(s) of shit in the toilet. When i take a poop that is exceptional in any way (size, color, smell, consistency), I take a picture with my phone, and email it to myself. Every other Friday after work, I download all of the photos to my PC and print them off before deleting the files and emails. I've been doing this for 6 years now, and i have roughly 500 pictures in my file cabinet so far. If my wife ever finds the poop files, I may have to take her out of the equation so that nobody finds out.
I haven't watched the full thing yet but how is it a problem to charge an extra fee to scammers? You stole items, you can't just return them back, pay up the extra. There gotta be consequences for bad behavior lol.
Everyone will be using this if OSOSRS comes out ;)

Honestly i don't like it. Vigilante justice is almost never done with good intentions, it's usually done just so they can feel good about themselves.
Scamming is also going to exist no matter what, and the best way to avoid scams is to be smart. I remember being scammed when a guy told me to drop my valuables, then he gave me a weird food, he told me if i ate it all of my ground items would be turned into something rare. I pretended to take off my g rune armor and dropped a lobster on the floor because i knew it was a trick, and i ate it out of pure curiosity because i wanted to see what happened, it teleported me, the guy was like "thx for the stuff lol" and i replied "i dropped a lobster lol" and it was just a funny moment. That's just part of runescape.
Say I scam 10 people and 1 of them reports me for it. Down the road I decide I am tired of people knowing im a scammer cause I can't scam as easy anymore. Now I just pay off the 1 scammers stuff to clear my name. Now I can look for that big payoff right? =p
I believe as long as all 10 people file a report, you'd be required to pay back all 10 to be de-listed. However if only one person submitted a report, and you scammed 9 other people, you'd just have to pay back whoever reported you. :)
If they say they catch people trying to falesly accuse people all the time, how can they also say it's rare people falesly accuse others? For sure they miss a bunch of people as well.

NordPass is a nice tool, but be careful. I got locked out of everything; email accs, Google accs, etc. Because NordPass thought I was a bot.

Yeah honestly removing people from a list is a dumb idea because they'll just scam someone when they know they can get away with it. One of the best deterrents is the threat of someone being permanently on a watch list and not being able to group up with anyone essentially killing the account. This system just allows you to return shit and get away for free lol.

Mr Colonello, a friend of mine, a friend I made through runescape over 13 years ago, was hacked a second time recently. The first hack he lost 1b and the second one probably 200m. We don't know what happened, how they got into his account 2 times. Can something be done? I can't send jagex tickets and my friend is so stressed out about this situation he just insta quit and probably is never coming back. It's a very sad moment, even more so because he was the most dedicated and highest level out of all of us. It just seems that jagex doesn't care at all if you're hacked even if you have authenticator on the two times you were hacked. I was hacked too once for 500m when I downloaded a fake runelite that was the first option when you searched runelite on google.

RuneWatch doesn't usually list normal scams. It lists loans not repaid and boss trips where splits should have been paid and weren't.
