Does the veeam back server need to be a dr site? What happens if.you have a veeam server at main location but the building or site is inaccessible, how is veeam going to start the failover?
Hi Sam, Typically, you would run TWO instances of our management interface. One at your 'protected site' and another at the 'recovery site'. In the event your protected site is unavailable, you'd still have the ability to login and conduct a failover using the failover plans. Equally so - bare in mind that we simply register the VMs into HyperV/Vmware, so in the event of a really big issue, there is nothing to stop the admin simply logging into his/her vCenter/SCVMM and simply booting the recovery VMs manually as they are all just powered off objects. (Of course, for fail-over/fail-back, its far nicer to use the Veeam interface!) Hope that answers your question.
